Yahoo4 days ago
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom might have had total sparks, but the couple has called it quits after nearly 10 years together. My S.O. will probably tell you that I randomly belt out, "Baby you're a firework" several times a day because I can't get enough of the way Katy Perry actively encourages people to be their full selves. It's something she strives to do in her career and personal life as evidenced by her 9-year public relationship with the actor Orlando Bloom. Yes, the same man who deliciously played Legolas in The Lord of the Rings and Will Turner in The Pirates of the Caribbean.
But in 2025, these two called off their relationship, and it just proves how dedicated they are to going after the lives they want. (And we're wishing them the best!).
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry called it quits in the summer of 2025 — and Orlando posted a family photo after the couple confirmed the breakup. I'm so relieved to see they're all smiles!
On February 27, 2025, Blue Origin that Katy Perry was joining the New Shepard NS-31 crew — alongside an all-female crew including iconic journalist, — heading to space...like actual factual outer space. While that fact is shocking to nearly everyone (just look at the comments section on the Instagram announcement), we could only imagine what that conversation with husband-to-be, Orlando Bloom was like.
However, Katy Perry just gave us a peak into her decision making process — including what her fiancé thinks about it all. On March 3, 2025, Katy told that she and Orlando "respect each other so much" so they "want to get input from each other."
"He is also all about the journey," she said. "That's one thing, I really, really admire about him — he's a seeker."
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom took the "'black" carpet at the 2024 VMA Awards, and they looked better than ever! Katy bared her body in a frayed, white two-piece look that only she could pull off, while Orlando rocked an all-black outfit to let her ensemble shine.
And while they looked great, Katy had a very relatable mom moment during an interview. She looked into the screen and told her daughter Daisy not to stay up too late and to "eat your broccoli," noting that it's Daisy's first time watching MTV ever! Adorable!
Orlando then introduced Katy before her VMA Vanguard Award performance. He said, "You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katherine Hudson." He continued by elaborating on Katy's many successes and how proud he is of her.
Then, post-performance (wow, that aerial work was INCREDIBLE), Orlando presented the actual Moon Person to Katy. While Katy rattled off the usual thank you's (her label, her team, her parents), there was one "thank you" that really stood out among the rest. When thanking her husband, she said, "Thank you to Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrated, and doing the dishes." Stars — they really are just like us!

She chatted with about his contributions, but made it known her family doesn't obsess over her music like fans."They've had enough of me. I mean, they're fine, but like...my family, they're telling me to move or take the trash out," she said.
Flynn's the only one who truly offers tangible feedback. She said, "He's got good taste" and "loves this song called 'All the Love,'" on 143. Out of everything Katy's written, it's one of her "favorite songs."

It's connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."
Orlando also revealed to that things can be challenging for the couple. He said, "Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won't lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity."
Appearing on Chelsea Handler's podcast , Katy got real about her and Orlando attending therapy together. "We love it because it keeps us in tune...and so when you want to come back to being normal in a domesticated world where you have a child and stuff like that, you have to really learn how to be kind of different out there in the big and in the small," she said.
We love a couple who attends therapy together!

HBO vs. HBO Max: A simple guide to what's what

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, BGR may receive an affiliate commission. When Last Week Tonight host John Oliver mercilessly mocked his show's parent company Warner Bros. Discovery back in May over the umpteenth name change for HBO's streaming network, it was not only a hilarious bit from the cheeky host about a boneheaded marketing decision — it was also an indicator that the difference between HBO and what's now HBO Max might still be a bit… puzzling, to say the least, to some viewers. With so many names, rebrands, and mergers in the mix over the past few years, it's understandable if you're still not totally clear on what's what. So here's a quick explainer to help straighten it all out. Today's Top Deals XGIMI Prime Day deals feature the new MoGo 4 and up to 42% off smart projectors Best deals: Tech, laptops, TVs, and more sales Best Ring Video Doorbell deals Whenever anyone refers to HBO, they're talking about the legacy cable TV channel that's been around for more than 50 years. It's known for prestige dramas (The Sopranos, Succession), original documentaries, and standup comedy. If you're watching Curb Your Enthusiasm or True Detective, for example, you're watching HBO. And while all HBO shows are also available to stream, the key thing here is that these titles were created for the cable channel first and foremost. If you're watching HBO, in other words, think 'watching TV.' Here's where things can get a little confounding. HBO Max is the streaming platform that launched in 2020 and has gone through multiple branding tweaks, most recently returning to the HBO Max name after a befuddling stint as 'Max.' This streamer includes everything from the HBO TV channel, but also a lot more (hence, the 'Max' in the title). In other words, the name implies HBO supercharged with extra content. HBO Max also includes Warner Bros. movies, some live sports, and originals made exclusively for the streaming platform. Which brings us to one more thing worth clarifying: Here's a distinction that trips people up: It's also important to define releases that are branded as Max Originals, which are shows and movies created specifically for HBO Max. In other words, these have never 'aired' on the HBO cable network. That includes streaming-only titles like The Flight Attendant, Love & Death, and Tokyo Vice. The recent movie Mountainhead from Succession creator Jesse Armstrong is also a Max Original. These are part of the HBO Max library, but technically, they're not HBO releases. I know, I know — it feels like splitting hairs. To wrap up, here's what to know about the key differences between all these terms: If you're watching something branded simply as 'HBO,' it's a TV show or movie that originally aired on the HBO cable network. If it says 'Max Original,' it's exclusive to the streaming service. And HBO Max is the umbrella platform where it all lives, along with a whole lot of other Warner Bros. Discovery content. I'll admit, it's definitely understandable that it can be confusing, still. But at least now, the next time John Oliver throws shade at his own streaming home, you'll be in on the joke. The Studio had an impressive showing at the 2025 Emmy Awards nominations The Seth Rogen-led comedy series earned a whopping 23 nominations this year, including six nods in the guest star categories Ron Howard was among the nominees and it marks his first-ever acting nominationThe Studio made a splash amongst the list of nominees for the 2025 Emmy Awards, and even Ron Howard made the list in an acting category. On Tuesday, July 15, Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén announced this year's nominations and the Seth Rogen-helmed Apple TV+ comedy series earned a whopping 23 nominations. Among those are nominations for Rogen himself for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, as well as his costars Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series. Ike Barinholtz also scored a nomination in the outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series category. Howard — who began his career in Hollywood as a child star and famously played Richie Cunningham on Happy Days — earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for acting. His performance in The Studio garnered him a nod for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series. The nomination is the acclaimed director's 14th ever at the Emmys, and he has won three times — for the documentary Jim Henson Idea Man last year, Arrested Development in 2004, and From The Earth To The Moon in 1998. The other guest stars from The Studio joining him in the category are: Dave Franco, Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie. Zoë Kravitz also earned a nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series. Mackie, 46, and Howard, 71, overlapped in episode 3 as they worked together on the fictional film Alphabet City, which Franco also "starred" in. During the episode, Howard broke down crying during a meeting with Rogen's studio head Matt Remick over his critique of the film — and things really crashed and burned when Rogen fell into and destroyed a bar cart after Howard threw his signature baseball hat at him in anger. Rogen, who co-created the series with Evan Goldberg, told PEOPLE that the director was "so game and so good and really tried so hard" during his days on set. "[He] worked really hard on the performance and the role and yeah, he was very impressive," he recalled. Howard also brought some of his own ideas to the scenes, Rogen shared. "It was his idea to throw his patented Imagine hat at me, which I thought was a true stroke of genius," Rogen said. "For him to weaponize his trademark look was a really miraculously funny idea." HBO just crushed the Emmys – here's the secret to its success

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, BGR may receive an affiliate commission. In a year crowded with prestige TV, HBO once again proved why it's the heavyweight champion of awards season. The network, along with its streaming sibling HBO Max, just scored a record-breaking 142 Emmy nominations — its highest total ever, and enough to surpass Netflix with its 121 nominations to reclaim the top spot. What really matters in the long run, of course, is actual wins, but HBO's big pile of nods nevertheless has plenty to say about the network behind it all. Today's Top Deals XGIMI Prime Day deals feature the new MoGo 4 and up to 42% off smart projectors Best deals: Tech, laptops, TVs, and more sales Best Ring Video Doorbell deals HBO's recognition this year is a product, first and foremost, of a smart mix of both established hits and buzzy new titles. The Penguin, for example, racked up 24 nominations (second only to Apple's Severance), while The White Lotus followed with 23, The Last of Us landed 16, and Hacks and The Pitt brought in 14 and 13 respectively. This kind of lineup certainly isn't accidental — it's the result of a carefully calibrated strategy that leans into bold storytelling, creator-driven projects, and a willingness to bet on talent. Anyone with an even passing familiarity with HBO no doubt understands that it's a place where prestige is about more than aesthetics. It's about trusting the creative talent, whether that means letting Mike White get weirder than ever with the newest season of The White Lotus or adapting a video game (The Last of Us) with emotional depth and scale. 'These Emmy nominations highlight the exceptional craftsmanship and storytelling that define HBO Max,' HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys said in a statement. 'From The Pitt and Noah Wyle's standout recognition to Somebody Somewhere's first nomination for its final season, it's incredible to see such a wide range of programming and creative talent celebrated across our slate.' It also helps that HBO's brand still means something. Viewers associate it with quality. Awards voters do, too. And while its rivals keep giving viewers more of the same algorithm-friendly slop, HBO keeps its lineup tight and curated — no filler, just the kind of releases that build on critical and viewer momentum. The result is continued cultural relevance, and a trophy case that keeps getting fuller. In an increasingly crowded streaming landscape, HBO's big Emmy year is a reminder that quality, not quantity, still wins. A simple lesson, but one that too many of its rivals still clearly do not understand.
