Flood-like situation in parts of Rajasthan after heavy rain
Villages in low-lying areas downstream of the swollen rivers have been submerged. Rivers in several districts, including Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Dholpur and Tonk, are overflowing following heavy downpour.
The state meteorological department has issued a rain alert in 29 districts. Amid a warning of heavy rains, schools were closed in 14 districts on Tuesday.
The Baran-Jhalawar highway is also closed due to the overflowing Parwan river. Many villages in near Bhawani mandi in Jhalawar district have been submerged due to the flooding of the Rewa river.
The Jhalawar collector and SP said they had to go to the affected areas on a tractor.
In Bundi, Udaipur, and Dausa, schools, houses and roads have been damaged in rain-related incidents.
Two rooms of Government Senior Secondary School in Peepla Gram Panchayat, Kotda, Udaipur, collapsed on Monday night.
At 8.30 am on Tuesday, light to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms was recorded in the last 24 hours at many places in east Rajasthan. Very light rainfall was recorded at some places in north Rajasthan. The highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Atru (Baran) at 109 mm.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Sriganganagar at 40.3 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Sirohi at 20.5 degrees Celsius.
Average humidity in the air was recorded between 70 and 100 per cent in most parts of the state. PTI AG ANM ANM SKY SKY

New Delhi: A cloudy sky with rain is likely in the national capital on Sunday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said while predicting light rain or drizzle. Delhi on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 33.7 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees below the season's average, the IMD said. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.7 degrees Celsius, 1.4 notches below the season's average. The relative humidity was recorded at 90 per cent at 5.30 pm on Saturday. Red alert for multiple North Bengal districts, Kolkata expected to receive light to moderate rainfall
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Saturday issued a red alert (take action) for rain in North Bengal districts like Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Kalimpong. Whereas, Darjeeling and Coochbehar have been put under an Orange alert (be prepared). 'Moderate flash flood risk likely over a few watersheds & neighbourhoods of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal during the next 24 hours,' IMD stated in a special bulletin. The weather department has issued a Yellow alert (be aware) for all South Bengal districts, which are likely to experience thunderstorms with gusty wind (30-40 kmph) accompanied by moderate rain at isolated places. Kolkata is expected to have a cloudy and humid day, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature in Kolkata on Saturday was 30.8 degree Celsius and the minimum was 26.8 degree Celsius. The maximum relative humidity was 98 per cent, and the minimum was 81 per cent. In its extended forecast, the IMD said Kolkata was likely to continue receiving light to moderate rain over the next few days, with chances of thunderstorms at most places in the city.
