EastEnders 'lining up multiple returns' with huge winter storyline teased
EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning on the BBC soap, revealed storylines six months from now are 'exciting' as she hinted at more than one return too
One EastEnders star has teased that more than one return could be on the cards for the BBC soap.
Not only that, but this Christmas and New Year could be very "exciting" judging by the hints of said soap star. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, Jacqueline Jossa addressed the rumoured return of her onscreen father Max Branning, played by Jake Wood.
While she could not confirm or deny, she shared her hopes to see him back on the show. Jacqueline also confessed bosses often kept huge twists and plots from her, knowing she would give things away by accident.
But what the Lauren Branning actress could tell us was more than one return is rumoured to be con the cards. Not only that, but she teased that in six months time, the show would be in a "very exciting" place.
Jacqueline teased stuff that only she and some of the cast know about, with viewers currently in the dark. Judging by her reaction when she teased the future huge storylines, which would be airing around Christmas and New Year, six months from now, it's certainly going to be massive.
Jacqueline told us: "I've heard some rumbles. I heard Kate Oates' source say maybe there are gonna be some returns and for me that excites me, whoever it is." While she did not give away who was coming back, she seemed to give away it's more than one character.
The star also addressed the rumours that Max will finally reprise his role after leaving the show in 2021. Max and actor Jake were written out at the time, and fans have long called for the favourite to head back to the show.
Amid speculation both Max and Lauren's brother Oscar Branning will head to Walford, Jacqueline remained coy over the rumours. She commented: "I have seen the rumours. I feel like you would have to ask Ben [Wadey], I'd love it. They tell us nothing. I feel like they tell me nothing because if they tell me, I will tell the world by accident.
"I know nothing. It's Max Branning. I'd love him back but he's super busy. We'll ask Ben, we'll beg Ben. Where is he?" It's then that the star revealed there were huge things to come on the show, with "exciting" plots unfolding around December time.
Jacqueline revealed: "I'm a massive fan of the show. I am so excited for [what's happening], cut to 6 months time, where the show will be [in six months time]. It excites me. You don't know but we know, it's very exciting."
Her co-star Kitty Castledine, who plays Lauren's cousin Penny Branning, also teased the big things ahead and promised the show would "keep getting better" from here. Responding about the scenes later this year, the actress spilled: "Yes, it's good.
"You don't know." Adding the show was in a really good place, she told us: "It really is and it's only gonna keep getting better."

The Office star ‘rushed to hospital after ‘suffering medical emergency' in front of live BBC audience
health scare The Office star 'rushed to hospital after 'suffering medical emergency' in front of live BBC audience THE OFFICE star Sally Bretton has been rushed to hospital after 'suffering a medical emergency' during the filming of Not Going Out. Actress Sally, 45, had been performing in front of a live BBC audience when she began experiencing pain and needed urgent medical attention. 1 The Office star Sally Bretton has been rushed to hospital after 'suffering a medical emergency' Credit: Andrew Sims - The Times Production on the long-running sitcom was interrupted as she sought help. Her co-star Lee Mack revealed the incident happened while they were shooting an episode centred on their characters trying to secure tickets for an Oasis reunion tour. Because the show is filmed 'as live', like a stage play, the medical emergency led to an immediate halt in production. Lee told The Mirror: 'There was a moment in that Oasis episode when we were filming it, when Sally said to me – she looked a bit in pain – 'Do you know what appendicitis feels like?' 'I said, 'I have no idea but I can tell you now you haven't got appendicitis, otherwise you wouldn't be here filming.' The next day she had her appendix out.' Sally plays Lucy, the on-screen wife of Lee's character, in the hit comedy. The pair have starred together since the show first aired back in 2006.

EastEnders star says ‘what a way to end' as she breaks silence on shock axe after eight years
EASTENDERS legend has broken her silence after being sensationally axed from the soap. The actress, who has been on the Square for eight years, shared her emotional reaction with fans after her final scenes aired. 6 6 6 The fan favourite, played by Clair Norris, bowed out as Bernie Taylor in a heart-breaking twist after nearly a decade in Albert Square. Her final scenes saw Bernie say an emotional goodbye to Walford, leaving fans gutted over her unexpected exit - and speculating over whether it's really the last we'll see of her. The 27-year-old joined her fellow castmates at this year's British Soap Awards - where the EastEnders won a total of 8 awards. This included wins for Best British Soap, Best Single Episode and Scene of the Year for Angie Watts' surprise return. Glammed up in a gorgeous teal dress, Clair posted a photos of herself on the red carpet on Instagram. She wrote in the caption: "My last @thebritishsoapawards with my EE family. We [broom emoji] up last night, 8 awards & I couldn't be prouder to be apart of this team! What a way to end this amazing journey, head held high & beaming from ear to ear." Clair was supported by both fans as colleagues in her post, with James Farrar, who plays Zack Hudson writing: "Head held HIGH". Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell, commented: "Love you". And Elijah Holloway, who plays Harry Mitchell, said: "We looked lovely didn't we." The BBC soap has been going through a transition stage with new producer Ben Wadey taking over. The Sun revealed the beloved character's exit back in May. However, it didn't come as a surprise to star Clair as she said: "Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes - it's nothing personal. "The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn't really a surprise to Clair. 'She was the last Taylor standing and it's time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.' Bernie first arrived in Walford in 2017 alongside mum Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) and brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). However, she's the last one of her family members left on the Square with her mum Karen leaving EastEnders in 2023, shortly followed by the murder of her brother Keanu on Christmas Day. While the Taylors are be gone, the Branning family is getting a boost. Actor Jake Wood is returning to the show as Max Branning after a four year absence. And he won't be returning alone. The BBC soap is set to begin rebuilding one of its main families with the Brannings to take centre stage once more. Max's comeback will also see his son Oscar arrive in Walford for the first time since 2017 - and he's being played by a brand new recast. Actor Pierre Moullier will play the now teenage Oscar taking over the role from Charlee Hall who last appeared in eight years ago. A source said: 'It is an exceptional bout of casting - Pierre looks more like a younger Jake than Jake did himself. It's uncanny. 'He's going to bring something new to Oscar and the character will definitely set the cat amongst the pigeons in the Square.' 6 6 6
