Man shoots self dead after firing at his son in Fatehabad
The deceased was working as a car dealer in Fatehabad. His younger son sustained two bullet injuries in his back and he is undergoing treatment at Agroha hospital.
The sarpanch representative of the village said that the elderly man had a dispute with his wife, who was living with her younger son.
'On Sunday, he visited his younger son's house and asked about his mother. When the son told him that his mother went to her parental house on Raksha Bandhan, he got angry and started abusing him. He took out his licensed revolver and fired shots at his son. Following this, he killed himself with the same revolver,' he added.
Fatehabad Sadar police station house officer Kuldeep Kumar said that the injured man has been undergoing treatment at Agroha medical college and they will record his statement once he comes out of the danger zone. He said that forensic experts have collected evidence from the spot.

Man caught with country-made weapon and ten live rounds
A 32-year-old man was caught in possession of a country-made weapon and ten live rounds by the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Malkajgiri Zone, along with the Cherlapally police on Thursday, August 14. The accused, Shiv Kumar, is a labourer residing in Pukat Nagar Colony in Pedda Cherlapally. He is originally from Pithanua village, Aurangabad district, Bihar. His brother-in-law, Krishna Paswan, 28, also from the same village, is absconding, said the Commissioner of Rachakonda Police, G. Sudheer Babu. Shiv Kumar has a criminal background and was previously arrested in February this year in a narcotics case involving marijuana chocolates. 'On August 6, he went to his native village in Bihar for Raksha Bandhan and allegedly planned with Paswan to earn money by making and selling weapons in Hyderabad. As per the plan, he procured three country-made weapons and ten live rounds from Paswan to sell to people intending to commit crime,' explained the commissioner. Based on credible information, the SOT Malkajgiri team and Cherlapally police apprehended him near the Cherlapally Railway Station at about 12.15 p.m. on August 14. The weapons, ammunition and a mobile phone were seized. A case was registered under sections 25(1)(A) and 25(1)(B)(a) of the Arms Act by the Cherlapally police. Efforts are on to trace Paswan.

Man strangulates wife to death for dowry in Purnia
Patna: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband in an inebriated condition when she and her family refused to meet his dowry demand in Purnia district on Wednesday night. The incident took place at Raghav Nagar Tola under Jankinagar police station area of the district. The deceased was identified as Renu Kumari, wife of Ranjit Kumar. According to police, Ranjit was demanding Rs 80,000 from her family which they refused to give. Ranjit allegedly assaulted and strangled his wife. The police have launched a manhunt to nab him. Woman's family has filed a murder case against the husband and mother-in-law, who are currently absconding. An FSL (forensic science lab) team has also collected evidence from the spot. As per the FIR, Renu married Ranjit Kumar in 2022. He was addicted to alcohol that her family was unaware of. Over time, he sold his ancestral land to support his drinking habit and repeatedly demanded dowry from Renu and her family. When these demands were not met by them, he used to assault his wife. Jankinagar SHO Parikshit Paswan said Renu's body was found on her bed, showing clear signs of strangulation and injury marks. The body was sent to the Govt Medical College Hospital in Purnia for post-mortem and later handed over to her family. Raids are underway to apprehend Ranjit Kumar and his mother, the SHO added. Thieves break into retired judge's home, one stands with rod over sleeping son while others ransack room
A gang of masked burglars broke into the home of a retired judge, Justice Ramesh Garg, in Madhya Pradesh's Indore and escaped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs, police said. Days after the burglary, the CCTV footage of the incident went viral, showing the masked men ransacking a room where Justice Garg's son, Ritvik, slept. One of the masked men stood with an iron rod, ready to strike if he woke up. The men escaped with the stolen goods while the family slept in separate rooms. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rupesh Dwivedi told The Indian Express, 'We can't say whether the son was sleeping or pretending to sleep (to avoid being assaulted). Our investigation is focused on the three masked men. There was a security guard at the gate, but they still managed to enter. We have formed teams to track the accused.' The incident occurred on Raksha Bandhan, the same day a spate of similar robberies was reported in nearby areas. Police have recovered CCTV footage from multiple locations, all showing masked and gloved criminals operating in an organised manner. The three men were spotted outside Justice Garg's home around 4 am. The thieves entered the bungalow around 4:30 am by cutting through an iron grill while a security guard was present on the premises. The CCTV footage shows the three criminals moving directly to Ritvik's room, while his wife and children slept in another room. At 4:35 am, the trio entered the house. One criminal stood guard with the rod while the others worked to break the cupboard lock. The cupboard lock broke at 4:37 am and the alarm sounded, but Ritvik remained motionless. The criminals removed cash and jewellery at 4:38 am and left the room a minute later as the alarm continued to sound. The following morning, the police were alerted, following which a team of senior officers from the district, including a sniffer dog team, was dispatched. The accused had worn gloves throughout the operation, leaving no fingerprints, police said. Justice Garg, who retired as Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court in June 2010, had a distinguished judicial career spanning multiple high courts across India. He was first appointed as the Additional Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on December 15, 1994 and a Permanent Judge on July 19, 1995. Following the bifurcation of Madhya Pradesh, he served as the First Judge & Acting Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh from November 1, 2000, to October 31, 2001. He subsequently worked as a Judge of the High Court of Patna from November 1, 2001, to February 26, 2005, before joining as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat on February 28, 2005. Justice Garg was transferred back to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on September 17, 2007, and served as Acting Chief Justice from November 16, 2009, to December 19, 2009. He was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court on April 17, 2010 and retired on June 18, 2010.
