Experts reveal New York Giants' biggest strength for 2025 NFL season
Russell Wilson is in at quarterback, and even if he fails, the always entertaining Jameis Winston, and the hope that comes along with first-round rookie Jaxson Dart are behind him on the depth chart.
That's fun.
Wide receiver Malik Nabers is on the launching pad to NFL superstardom. Whenever an offense has a superstar pass-catcher? Yeah, fun.
But the most exciting position group on this roster is on the defensive side of the ball. Specifically, the defensive front.
According to ESPN's latest ranking of every NFL team's roster ahead of the 2025 season, Big Blue's pass rushers were tabbed as the team's biggest strength.
"The Giants still have many major roster concerns, but they might have the league's best defensive front," ESPN's Mike Clay wrote. "It starts at edge rusher with arguably the league's most intimidating trio. Brian Burns is seventh in the NFL with 54.5 sacks since entering the league in 2019, Kayvon Thibodeaux ranks 21st with 17.0 over the past two seasons, and, as if that's not enough, New York spent the third pick of April's draft on Abdul Carter. The Giants' D-line also features one of the league's top defensive tackles in Dexter Lawrence II (second-team All-Pro in 2022 and 2023)."
Carter is the must-see player on the New York Giants' defense in 2025, and that's saying a lot. The Giants already boast a fearsome pass-rush duo in Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, but neither has the natural ability that Carter possesses.
At their best, Carter, Burns, and Thibodeaux all have game-wrecking upside. And when you add defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the mix? Yeah, the Giants' defense will keep them in a lot more games than industry experts are predicting right now.

Inter Miami rallies to beat Necaxa on penalty kicks in Leagues Cup after Messi exits with injury
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Luis Suárez had the game-winning penalty kick, and Inter Miami rallied to beat Necaxa in the Leagues Cup on Saturday night after losing Lionel Messi to a hamstring injury in the opening minutes. Jordi Alba had the tying goal on a header the made it 2-2 in the second minute of stoppage time to force the shootout. Inter Miami then converted all five of its penalty kicks, and goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo denied Tomás Badaloni in the third round of the shootout. Suárez hit the winning shot into the top left corner. Messi was injured around the eighth minute when he fell while being challenged by a pair of defenders near the penalty area. He walked slowly toward the Inter Miami bench before sitting down on the pitch. Trainers came out and worked on his right upper thigh area before he subbed out in the 11th. Miami played down a man the rest of regulation. Telasco Segovia put his side ahead 1-0 minute after Messi exited on a feed from Inter Miami newcomer Rodrigo De Paul, who had two assists in just his second match with the club. It was Segovia's second goal of the tournament. Badaloni tied it at 1 on a shot that he tapped past Ríos Novo to the bottom left corner in the 33rd. Astros reliever Neris intentionally balks to advance runner from second, then shouts at Red Sox
BOSTON (AP) — Houston Astros reliever Héctor Neris used a balk to advance a runner to third on Saturday, then had an exchange with Red Sox third base coach Kyle Hudson that led to a dustup between the teams. Neris surrendered Trevor Story's two-out RBI double in the seventh inning of Houston's 7-3 loss. The right-hander then balked, moving Story to third, before Carlos Narváez bounced to shortstop for the final out. As Neris made his way off the mound, he had words with Hudson and yelled toward the Red Sox dugout, causing both teams, including bullpens, to come on the field before order was quickly restored. Asked if he felt the Red Sox were stealing signs, Neris responded: 'Maybe. Maybe yes, maybe no." 'But I still wanted to concentrate," the 36-year-old right-hander continued. "In (that) situation, I want to do what I'm feeling in the moment. That is the reason why I moved him to third.' Neris declined to specify what he said to Hudson that caused the benches to empty.
