Jersey beat Alderney in Muratti Vase semi-final
Jersey booked their place in May's Muratti Vase final after beating Alderney 2-0 in their semi-final at The Arsenal.Jay Dos Santos and Kieran Lester went close early on before Dos Santos broke the deadlock with an excellent curling free-kick into the top corner after 37 minutes. Newly-appointed Jersey boss Jack Cannon should have seen his side double their lead when Lester was denied from close range by a fine save a minute after the restart.Jersey, who had many of their first-choice players in action for title-chasing club side Jersey Bulls, dominated much of the possession.Jamie Mourant had a 77th-minute shot blocked for the visitors while Connor Maher went close five minutes later.Alderney had a couple of late efforts but could not find an equaliser, and just as it looked as though they would record their closest result with the Caesareans since a 2-1 loss in 2017, they conceded a second. Seaney McColgan finished well after some good control from Maher's pass in stoppage time for a goal on his Jersey debut. The defeat means Alderney will have to wait another year to try to end their 105-year winless run - their only victory came in the 1920 final when they beat Guernsey 1-0.Jersey will go on to face Guernsey for the Muratti Vase on Saturday, 17 May. The match will be the first Muratti game to be held at Guernsey's new Victoria Park ground.

Jersey children to take part in mini triathlon
Children in Jersey will take part in a children's triathlon this weekend to raise money for blood Jersey Kids' Triathlon will take place at the Les Quennevais Sports Centre in St Brelade with children running, cycling and swimming over a short race, which is open to six to 13 year-olds, will be a "fun sporting event" with "no winners and losers - only achievers," organisers said everybody taking part would get "a complimentary event t-shirt, medal and goody bag full of surprises". Children in the youngest age group - Years 2 and 3 - will swim 25m (27 yards), cycle 1.5km (0.93 miles) and run 600m (656 yards).Those in the oldest age group - Years 6 to 8 - will swim 100m (109 yards), cycle 4.5km (2.8 miles) and run 1200m (1313 yards).The event is raising money for the Jersey branch of Blood Cancer UK.

Strikers call time on Jersey Bulls careers
Forwards Karl Hinds and Kieran Lester will leave Jersey Bulls following the club's promotion to the Isthmian was the island side's top scorer in their inaugural season in 2019-20 before the campaign was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. Having spent some time away from the club, Hinds returned last summer under new boss Elliot Powell and scored nine times to take his overall tally to 28 goals in 72 returned to the side earlier this season after an injury crisis and scored a number of key goals in his final campaign as he ended his time at the club with 19 goals in 79 brother Adam, who was part of the Bulls' backroom team, is also leaving the club.

Jersey Sport skate project boosts local kids' confidence
Jersey Sport's new project on the east of the island has been backed by parents as having "boosted the confidence" of local organisation has been running the St Clements Neighbourhood Programme since April and it comes to an end on six-week project saw hundreds of children attend football and skateboarding Jersey which has helped run the session said it was "about getting kids outside and giving them new skills". Coral McSweeney's daughter has been going to the sessions at Clos Mourant said "her confidence has been boosted" and "everyone has been enjoying this and it is very appreciated out here".Ms McSweeney added: "I only live a couple of blocks away and I rarely see opportunities like this here for our children which teaches them to try new things."She hoped Jersey Sport would be able to continue similar projects in the area now the St Clements Neighbourhood Programme has come to an end. Theo and his sister Melissa were some of the children who attended the sessions with Skateboard said "I like to go fast" and next he would like to "go on the big ramps by myself".Melissa added: "I like going on the ramps because of the speed you can go and I want to keep on skating because it's so fun and the coaches are really nice".The project has been run in partnership with Jersey Police, Andium Homes, Jersey Youth Service and Skateboard Jersey. Joel Banks is a skate coach at Skateboard Jersey and has been helping run the said "this side of the island sometimes gets neglected" for skate activities and "it's about getting kids outside and giving them new skills"."It gave me an outlet so if I was frustrated or excited I could go and skate and it doesn't matter what you look like or where you came from – everyone is welcome," he Jersey brought mini ramps which were set up in the estate as well as skateboards and safety equipment. The project has been organised by Laura Riley from Jersey Sport to give more opportunities to children outside of St said: "This is the first of hopefully many initiatives we've got. We're trying to reach as many different community groups as possible".Ms Riley added: "We've been looking at data about to pinpoint where these sessions should be so we're looking at antisocial behaviour and you can really see the impacts from this for the wider community too."
