Release Metro fare report: Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya
Tejasvi Surya
Wednesday demanded the immediate release of the fare-fixation committee report, based on which Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) increased Metro fares in Feb.
Raising the issue in Parliament, the MP urged the central govt to expedite operations of the long-pending Yellow Line. "The line connects residential areas with Electronics City, and over 8 lakh people will travel on the line once it is open."
Referring to the fare-fixation committee report, Surya said, "Despite multiple requests over the last four months, BMRCL hasn't made it public. This is a democracy — the general public, especially those travelling in Metro, have every right to know on what basis BMRCL increased fares by 130 percent."

Boy in hurry: DK Shivakumar, Tejasvi Surya spar over Bengaluru metro line launch
A political tussle has erupted over the inauguration of Bengaluru's Yellow Line metro, with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar calling BJP MP Tejasvi Surya "a boy in a hurry" for pushing for its early opening, and Tejasvi Surya hitting back, accusing the Congress of delaying public addressing reporters, clarified that the 19.5-km Yellow Line received its safety certification only on July 31, and that the Prime Minister has been invited to inaugurate it on August 10. advertisementThe Yellow Line project had a deadline of August 15. 'This is a Rs 7,610 crore project. So far, only three trains have arrived. One more is expected by the 10th. It will take 10–15 more days to become fully operational,' he said. 'Our MP is still young, a boy, and he wanted operations to start urgently. But we can't rush things like that.'He also stressed that the project is a joint effort between the state and central governments."This is a 50-50 project. There should be no politics in this. No one should try to fool the public,' Shivakumar sharply to the remarks, Surya said, 'I have been consistently trying to get the Yellow Line operational at the earliest. For this, DK Shivakumar attacked me and called me 'a young boy in urgency.' I'm appalled that the Deputy Chief Minister considers it a crime to expedite public projects.'He further said the Congress represents 'the politics of delay' while Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in fast-tracking development.'Hurry? Yes, because the city is choking. People spend 2.5 hours commuting one way. Unlike the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, they don't have special corridors. And you are asking why to open it urgently?' Surya WARCongress MLA Rizwan Arshad backed Shivakumar, calling the Yellow Line a joint venture where credit should be shared.'The project has been executed by the state government. Others shouldn't rush to take credit before the inauguration. The PM has been invited. An MP shouldn't try to take credit,' he said. He also accused Surya of misleading the public. 'Why open barricades or campaign on the roadside? An MP should behave responsibly, not like a mere party worker.'Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar also weighed in, calling out the BJP for ignoring the federal system. 'The role of the state government is significant. Even if the Centre is involved, the state must be respected and taken into confidence,' he said. 'You can't ignore the Chief Minister or act unilaterally. It's not just about Bengaluru—it's about Karnataka.'Sudhakar acknowledged Surya's preparation and enthusiasm but said it shouldn't cross limits. 'Some people feel the need to tweet just to say they broke the news first. It's good to be proactive, but not at the cost of the process. There's still a long way to go in politics—it's better to respect the federal system,' he said.- EndsMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Bengaluru

PM to flag off Namma Metro Yellow Line on Aug 10
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru on August 10 to inaugurate the much-awaited yellow line of Namma to the media, Shivakumar said the state government has received official communication about the Prime Minister's arrival for the Metro launch event. 'The Prime Minister has confirmed his participation in the inauguration of the yellow line. We are making necessary preparations and conducting inspections accordingly,' he said. However, Shivakumar clarified that a detailed itinerary of Modi's other engagements in Bengaluru is yet to be officially released. 'He has said he will come, but specific timings and other programmes are not finalised,' he added. According to sources, the PM's Bengaluru visit will be restricted to the Yellow Line Metro inauguration and the launch of a new Vande Bharat train service. Originally, the BJP had planned a massive roadshow from Ragigudda to Jayanagar and a party workers' convention at Shalini Ground in Jayanagar to mark Modi's visit. However, both events have been cancelled. This last-minute change has come as a setback to state BJP leaders who were eagerly preparing for a high-profile rally showcasing Modi's presence in the city — his first visit in over a year. The cancellation has reportedly caused disappointment within the party ranks. The 19.2-km yellow line of Namma Metro, which will connect RV Road to Bommasandra via key junctions, is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity to the city's industrial corridors. The Metro line is part of a broader infrastructure push in Bengaluru, and its inauguration marks a major milestone for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).

New expressways & airports have put UP on path to rapid eco growth in 8 yrs
1 2 Lucknow: The state, once associated with pothole-ridden roads, crumbling infrastructure and sluggish development, continues to rise as one of the fastest-growing states in the country. Before 2017, the state suffered from a lack of political will and strategic planning. However, a transformative shift began in 2017 under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. With strong coordination between the centre and the state, the groundwork for an infrastructure revolution was laid. Before 2017, UP's image was marred by broken roads and stalled projects. The Lucknow-Agra expressway was incomplete, while ambitious projects like the Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Ganga expressways were on the backburner. Villages and small towns were poorly connected to major urban centres, hindering economic activity. Currently, seven expressways are operational across the state, while 15 more are either under construction or proposed. Upon completion of the Ganga expressway, UP alone will account for six out of every 10km of expressway network in the country. The roads are also linking previously neglected regions such as Bundelkhand, Purvanchal and Terai. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo Moreover, industrial clusters, MSME parks and agro-based industries are being developed along the expressway corridors, creating jobs and fuelling economic growth. Also, UP now has 16 operational airports, including four international airports — Lucknow, Varanasi, Kushinagar and Ayodhya. The Noida International Airport, currently under construction in Jewar, is set to become the largest in the country and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The network of Metro rail services has also expanded and spans across the state. From just Lucknow, two more cities, Kanpur and Agra, can now boast of Metro rail services. The first rapid rail corridor has also been launched between Delhi and Meerut. Additionally, groundwork is underway for Metro networks in several other cities such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Bareilly. Simultaneously, development is progressing on inland waterways, including the Varanasi-Haldia. In the Greater Noida-Jewar region alone, investments worth Rs 27,521 crore have flowed in, generating over 16,400 jobs between 2023 and 2025. Other major projects under development include the PM Mitra Mega Textile Park in Lucknow, Mega Food Park in Bareilly, Trans Ganga City in Unnao, Plastic Park in Gorakhpur, and the country's first freight village in Varanasi. While 17 municipal corporations have been developed as smart cities, 757 projects have been either executed or are underway with a budget of Rs 10,300 crore under the Smart City Mission. In terms of road infrastructure, the last eight years have witnessed unprecedented progress. On average, 11km of new roads and 9km of road widening have been accomplished every day. Over 32,000km of rural roads have been built, and more than 25,000km have been upgraded.
