Eagles legend Brandon Graham couldn't resist taking one last jab at a rival

USA Today6 hours ago

Brandon Graham might be done playing, but he may never stop talking, especially when it comes to Philly's rivals.
There aren't many reasons to knock the NBA these days, but if there were one, it would have to be the following. Pro basketball sometimes takes the route of placing more of an emphasis on individual players than the teams they are on.
The NFL hypes its stars too, but there's also a concerted effort to push 'The Shield' and its 32 franchises. Sure, the Philadelphia Eagles have their legends, but unlike what we see in basketball, fans don't abandon their team because its stars leave to play elsewhere.
Now, again... That doesn't mean NFL fans won't fall in love with star players. Why do you think Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley jerseys are purchased so often? Why do you think Birds fans love Brandon Graham so much?
By the way... Speaking of Brandon Graham...
Eagles legend didn't miss his opportunity to toss verbal jabs at the Giants.
Each of Brandon Graham's 15 NFL seasons was spent with his beloved Eagles. The fans love him. They always will. He loves them. He's an Eagle through and through.
Part of being an Eagle to the core, however, means, at some point, being baptised in the City of Brotherly Love's culture. There was no way he was going to spend that long in Midnight and Kelly Green without developing some disdain for Philadelphia's NFC East rivals.
The phrase "Dallas Sucks" flows from Graham's lips constantly. It has happened during games. It has done so when he announced Eagles draft picks, but the New York Giants aren't safe from his verbal onslaughts. They recently caught a stray at NYC's Fanatics Fest.
By the looks of things, retirement hasn't softened his edge one bit. Old habits die hard, it seems. Graham may have hung up the cleats, but that doesn't seem to matter much. Trash talk will seemingly be a part of his DNA.
No one is complaining, of course. That's perfectly fine with any Birds fan walking. It comes with the territory when one 'bleeds' green. Since we're on the subject, here's where we echo Graham's statements. We'd also like to thank the Giants for Saquon Barkley.

Tyreek Hill lobbies for Jalen Ramsey to stay with Dolphins despite trade buzz

Tyreek Hill does not want the Jalen Ramsey to leave South Beach. Hill told the Fanatics Fest crowd on Saturday that he was hard at work to get his star cornerback to stay, despite Ramsey having been on the trade block for months. 'I'm going to hang out with Ramsey,' Hill said, 'I'm going to get him back, full-court press, I'm getting him, Ramsey, back in a Dolphins jersey.' Advertisement Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill AP Keeping Ramsey in Miami will be a challenging task for both Hill and Dolphins brass. The 30-year-old was named the best cornerback in the NFL three times and is a seven-time Pro Bowler. Advertisement As the No. 5-overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Ramsey quickly became for defensive force for the Jaguars, eventually moving to the Rams in a midseason 2019 trade. Since coming to Miami in a 2023 deal with the Rams, his production has trended downward. Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey (5) works out during training camp. USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Con Ramsey has played in 27 games with the Dolphins, recording five interceptions and 16 pass deflections over the past two years. Advertisement The main reason Miami might send him to another team is due to his contract: In 2024, Ramsey signed a three-year extension worth $72 million. At the time, that made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. With Ramsey's $24 million cap hit, his contract would be one of the first that would need to go if the Dolphins' front office wants to enter a rebuild. Currently, Miami is positioned between a playoff contender and a team that may need to enter a rebuild sooner rather than later. Advertisement It's not enough to deter Hill, the speedy star wideout. 'He's a dog. He's one of the best corners in the league, man.' he said of Ramsey. 'Great leader, great teammate too, though. That's what he doesn't get a lot of credit for.'

New York Jets Billionaire Co-Owner Buys Stake In Crystal Palace

Woody Johnson watches the New York Jets prepare to play the Denver Broncos at Empower Field At Mile ... More High on September 26, 2021 in Denver, Colorado. Robert "Woody" Johnson, the co-owner of the NFL's New York Jets, has agreed to buy John Textor's stake in Crystal Palace in a deal that will likely boost the chances of the south London club playing in next season's Europa League. Johnson has signed a "legally binding contract" to purchase the stake from John Textor's Eagle Football group, according to a statement from Crystal Palace on Monday. Completion of the deal is pending approval from the Premier League and Women's Super League, the club said, but it does not envisage any issues and look forward to welcoming Woody as a partner and director. "We would like to go on record to thank John Textor for his contribution over the past four years and wish him every success for the future," the statement said. Johnson will reportedly pay about £190 million ($256 million) to acquire more than 40% ownership of Crystal Palace. Forbes estimates that he has a net worth of $3.4 billion. The American billionaire had tried to buy Chelsea in 2022, but lost out to the consortium led by billionaire Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. Textor had been under pressure to wrap up a quick sale of his stake in Palace to avoid the club being disqualified from playing in Europe next season. UEFA's rules state that no individual or entity can have 'control or influence' over two clubs competing in the same competition. Textor owns a majority stake in French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais, which has also qualified for the Europa League and would take precedence over Palace due to their higher domestic league finish. UEFA is expected to reach its decision on Palace's participation in the Europa League this week, but the matter may drag on even longer. For if Palace are disqualified from the competition, Nottingham Forest would be moved from the Conference League to the Europa League. And Forest have already written to UEFA to raise their concerns about Palace breaching the governing body's rules on multi-club ownership. Forest's billionaire owner Evangelos Marinakis avoided the same problem with his Greek side Olympiakos by placing his shares in the Premier League club into a blind trust to comply with UEFA rules. Textor could have made the same arrangement with his Palace shares, but the deadline for doing so passed on March 1. UEFA is already said to be preparing for a possible legal challenge to its decision at the court of arbitration for sport (CAS). Textor is expected to use the proceeds of stake sale to invest in another English club through his Eagle Football group, which also includes Brazil's Botafogo and Belgium's RWD Molenbeek. He had tried to buy Everton earlier this year, but Farhad Moshiri opted instead to sell the club to Dan Friedkin. Textor had previously expressed frustration that his investment in Palace did not entitle him to having a greater say in the club's direction. Despite holding the largest shareholding in Palace, his 25% voting rights were equal to fellow co-owners Steve Parish, David Blitzer and Josh Harris. Parish holds a 10% stake in club, and has effectively had day-to-day control of the club since 2010, when he led a consortium that saved it from liquidation. And the American investors Harris and Blitzer each own an 18% stake in Palace.

Former Pro Bowl WR still sees San Francisco 49ers as Super Bowl contenders

The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the NFL's premier teams over the last 14 years, making it to three Super Bowls, and despite losing all three, they've spent half of those years recording at least 10 wins in a season. Unfortunately, the team stumbled a bit in 2024 after making a Super Bowl run the year prior, finishing with a 6-11 record and in fourth place in the NFC West. This poor performance led to multiple key players leaving in the offseason, including Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward, Leonard Floyd and many others. With those changes, many believe that the 49ers will continue their struggles from last year and miss the postseason for a second year in a row for the first time since 2017-18. However, former NFL wide receiver, three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson believes San Francisco can still be contenders to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2025. "They didn't lose the type of pieces that we think," Johnson said recently on FOX Sports 1's "Speak." "They lost some numbers, but they replaced those numbers in free agency and through the draft. I don't think they're going to fall off at all. I think the culture's still there and the window for the Super Bowl is still wide open. 'Everybody for the most part from the leadership standpoint is in place. In terms of the guy that they may miss the most, probably just Deebo." While the 49ers moved on from so many contributors, they also made it a priority to sign tight end George Kittle, quarterback brock Purdy and linebacker Fred Warner to long-term extensions that should keep the core together for a while. 'You still got Christian McCaffrey, you still got [Brandon] Aiyuk, you still got Fred Warner, you still got Brock Purdy and Kittle and Trent Williams,' Johnson said. 'So you still got [Nick] Bosa and company, they're still there.' If the 49ers are going to contend for the division in 2025, they'll need their veterans to be healthy (which is a big ask for a few of them), and their rookies, including first-round pick Mykel Williams, to hit the ground running.
