Oman hosts key WTO roundtable to boost Arab trade integration

MUSCAT:The Sultanate of Oman kicked off the 13th China Roundtable Meeting on WTO Accession in Muscat under the theme 'Advancing Arab Economies: From Strategic Accession to Global Trade Integration.'
Held in cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Government of the People's Republic of China, the three-day event brings together officials from WTO member and aspiring countries to strengthen multilateral trade engagement.
Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, said Oman's hosting of the event underscores its commitment to constructive dialogue and international cooperation within the multilateral trading system.
He highlighted Oman's instrumental role in supporting developing nations — such as Seychelles and the Comoros — in their WTO accession by offering both technical and financial assistance.
Masan noted that Oman looks forward to the roundtable promoting new avenues for trade and economic cooperation, further easing accession pathways for aspiring WTO members, and contributing to a more inclusive global trading framework. — ONA

This, he noted, contributes to enhancing economic and commercial cooperation. He pointed out that Hong Kong, as a global financial and commercial hub, offers an attractive environment for investments in various sectors, including renewable energy and advanced technologies. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

SALALAH, Aug 2 The Al Khanjar Perfumes and Incense Factory was officially inaugurated at Raysut Industrial City in Salalah, with an investment exceeding RO 3 million. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, along with several dignitaries, officials and business leaders. Mohammed bin Said Jadad, CEO of Al Khanjar Perfumes and Incense Factory, noted that the facility spans 6,000 square metres and is equipped with state-of-the-art industrial technologies. The factory features four main production lines, including a liquid perfume line with a capacity of up to 15,000 packages per day, an incense production line capable of producing 6,000 packages daily, a traditional aromatic preparations line with a daily capacity of 5,000 packages, and a concentrated aromatic compounds line producing 10,000 packages per day. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art industrial technologies Speaking to ONA, the CEO emphasised that the factory aims to meet the demands of both local and Gulf markets with products that combine high efficiency and competitive quality. A visual presentation highlighting the factory's Omani identity and construction journey was showcased during the ceremony, followed by a guided tour of the production lines. Attendees had the opportunity to observe the manufacturing process and interact with the factory's team. The factory's launch marks a significant milestone in strengthening the presence of Omani-made products in regional markets. It aims to contribute to the national economy by offering high-quality fragrances and incense that reflect the country's cultural heritage. Salalah: The Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association is organising events and exhibitions in the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain to strengthen relations between the two countries in the trade and investment fields. It will provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises to display their products and improve their production. The association will be organising the fifth edition of the Omani-Bahraini Products Exhibition in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate, on August 10. The 10-day event is being held under the patronage of Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Radina bint Amer Al Hajri , Chairperson of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association, explained that the exhibition is being organised by the association in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Sultanate of Oman and the Dhofar branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the Dhofar Autumn Season, an exceptional season for local, Gulf, and Arab tourism. In a statement to the Oman News Agency, she said that the organisation of the exhibition stems from the close fraternal and historical relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, which reflect the keenness of the wise leadership in both countries and their directives to develop and enhance relations in all fields to reach the highest levels of coordination and cooperation, up to the stage of integration between them. She noted that the exhibition is witnessing the participation of approximately 33 Omani and Bahraini entrepreneurs representing a range of products, including perfumes and incense, as well as many other diverse products, such as Bahraini sweets, Omani frankincense, dates, Bahraini and Omani dresses and abayas, Omani handicrafts, Omani honey, and other products for which both countries are famous.
