The free streaming service in India is already home to Eccho Rights titles such as 'My Home My Destiny', 'The Promise', 'New Bride' and 'Cennet'.
Amazon MX Player, Amazon's free streaming service, has extended its partnership with international distributor Eccho Rights to bring two of Turkey's drama series, Golden Boy (Yalı Çapkını) and Chrysalis (Camdaki Kız), to viewers across India. This move reinforces MX Player's growing commitment to delivering premium international content to Indian audiences in their preferred languages.
Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of Content, Amazon MX Player, said: 'This partnership is an exciting continuation of our journey with Eccho Rights. At Amazon MX Player, our goal is to present our Indian viewers with compelling stories that transcend borders in a language of their preference. With Golden Boy and Chrysalis, we're bringing two emotionally rich and visually stunning dramas that have captured hearts across the globe.'
'These are two of the most important drama titles we have seen come out of Türkiye in the past five years, and while both have enjoyed enormous success on the international stage so far, bringing them to the world's largest consumer market in India represents another landmark step for Turkish Drama,' added Melis Hamamcıoğlu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales at Eccho Rights, who closed the deal.
Golden Boy, produced by OGM Pictures and currently in its third season, premiered on Star TV in 2022 and quickly became a ratings juggernaut in Turkey. The series tells the story of two sisters, Seyran and Suna, whose lives spiral into chaos when the wealthy and impulsive Ferit chooses one of them to marry. With its blend of family drama, secrets and revenge, the show stars Afra Saraoğlu, Mert Ramazan Demir and Çetin Tekindor.
Chrysalis, also by OGM Pictures, debuted on Kanal D in 2021 and dominated Turkish viewership rankings for over a year. A recipient of the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Drama Series, the show follows Nalan, a young woman in search of love and identity, as she unravels painful truths about her life and relationships.
The two new additions build on Amazon MX Player's previous collaborations with Eccho Rights, which have brought popular Turkish dramas like My Home My Destiny, The Promise, New Bride, Cennet, Hear Me, Dreaming of You and Love Puzzle to Indian audiences.
All Turkish titles are available to stream for free on Amazon MX Player via its mobile apps, Amazon shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, Airtel Xtreme and connected TVs, further expanding the reach of Turkish storytelling in India.

Nippon TV announces Arabic adaptation of ‘Woman – My Life for My Children' by Medyapim

The new adapted series, titled 'Salma' will premiere on MBC1 and stream on Shahid. Medyapim's Arabic-language adaptation of Nippon TV's drama Woman – My Life for My Children is set to debut across the Middle East and North Africa on August 17, airing on MBC1 and streaming on Shahid. Titled Salma, the series spans 90 episodes and marks Medyapim's third drama for MBC, following earlier adaptations of BBC Studios' Doctor Foster and the Turkish hit War of the Roses. Based on the original drama penned by Yuji Sakamoto and produced by Hisashi Tsugiya, the story follows the struggles of a single mother whose unwavering love for her children drives her to persevere against overwhelming odds. Medyapim previously adapted the format in Turkey as Kadin, which ran for three seasons and sold to more than 60 international markets. Keisuke Miyata, Scripted Format Licensing at Nippon TV, said: 'The heartfelt story penned by Yuji Sakamoto and produced by Nippon TV has already reached the hearts of audiences in an astonishing 60-plus countries through the superb adaptation by Turkey's Medyapim. This time, we look forward that our story will reach deep into the souls of the Arabic audience through Salma. Salma's struggle to survive and to forge a path for herself as a woman amidst all odds and many tribulations will surely pull viewers deep into her life story that ultimately leads her to happiness because she followed the voice of her heart.' Fatih Aksoy, Chairman of Medyapim, added: 'When I first adapted Nippon TV's drama Woman in Turkey, it was my mother who inspired me at every step. In her strength, I saw the quiet resilience shared by millions of women like the one at the heart of this story. My mother was a Turkish woman of Arab descent. And now, to have brought this series to life once more in my mother's native language is profoundly exciting for me.' Tareq Al-Ibrahim, Director of MBC1, MBC Drama and SVOD content at Shahid, stated: 'This collaboration depicts the true power of storytelling that transcends borders and cultures. Salma is a meaningful example of how diverse voices can come together to create stories that resonate universally. Through Nippon TV and Medyapim, the series has honoured its Japanese roots and Turkish evolution, and now with MBC Group on board, we are excited to be bringing a local and authentic essence to Arab audiences. This production is proof of what can be achieved when creative forces from different parts of the world unite around a shared human experience.'

Burj Khalifa to light up with the Indian flag on August 15

The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, will light up with the Indian flag tonight to mark Indian Independence Day in Dubai. Indian Independence Day falls on August 15 and celebrates the day it was liberated from British colonial rule. As the UAE is home to 4.36 million Indians, with 2 million alone living in Dubai, the city is celebrating in a big way, a really big way. We are sure the event will be snapped up by thousands of residents and visitors in the area and posted on social media, but if you want to check it out in person, the expected time for the flag to appear is 7:50pm on Friday, August 15. The display of the Indian flag, the world's largest LED screen, goes just beyond being an Instagram moment. It marks the powerful friendship between the United Arab Emirates and India. > Sign up for FREE to get exclusive updates that you are interested in

Dubai: For modern Indian cuisine, head to Punjab Grill

Good Indian food is not hard to come by in Dubai — from two Michelin-starred gastronomic journeys to traditional, low-key curry spots, both are available aplenty. Punjab Grill, however, sits comfortably between these two disparate concepts. Located within Anantara Downtown, the restaurant immediately made us feel welcome and at home while still offering an elevated environment — reminiscent of some of my favourite London curry houses, where my family would go for special occasions or when my dad wanted to treat me and my siblings if my mum was out of town. The delightful waiter recommended we opt for their tasting menu, which features a series of dishes celebrating the colourful cuisines of India's vast and varied regions, each interpreted through Punjab Grill's modern lens. We began our seven-course gastronomic journey with a light amuse bouche, consisting of a cheese kulcha with chili, walnut, and dates. The meal quickly progressed to appetisers, including a decadent stuffed aloo, chili and peanut thecha and meaty dakshin shrimps served with fried idli and curry leaf podi. After this flavourful start, we moved on to the larger dishes, with highlights including lemongrass and chili tikka kebabs, raunakeen lamb seekhan, and jimikand ka seekh — each dish brighter in spices, citrus, and overall character than the last. Following this parade of meaty dishes, we enjoyed saucier curries. The paneer roulade, served on a bed of creamy butter sauce, was my favourite dish of the evening (though it wasn't an easy choice to make). This was paired with makhani saag, parsi salli chicken, roomali roti, and brun pav. By this point, we were understandably full, but there's always room for dessert. We were presented with an array of Indian sweet treats, including kulfi, saffron falooda, and a rose and khus granita. This dining experience was hard to fault, with an array of decadent yet fresh flavours and bright interpretations of classic regional dishes.
