As the Chief Minister was unable to attend the scheduled event.
Speaking to the reporters, G Parameshwara said, 'A bridge has been constructed in Shivamogga with the help of the Union and the Government... Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wanted to inaugurate the bridge. The CM had requested him to postpone because he won't be able to attend the inauguration program... If it had been postponed, then the CM would also have been able to attend the program...'
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, requesting to reschedule the foundation laying ceremony for the Shivamogga National Highway project, which is scheduled to be held today.
He said that he was not consulted before the finalisation of the project's dedication and foundation ceremony on July 14, despite his name being included in the draft invitation card.
'I have not been intimated about this programme in advance, and an inauguration programme of various developmental schemes is already scheduled under my Chairmanship in Indi Taluka, Vijyapura District on the same day,' Siddaramaiah said in a letter.
Asking Gadkari to instruct his department to coordinate while organising such events, the CM said that it would have been 'appropriate' for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to have consulted with the Karnataka government before scheduling the state-level programs.
'It would have been more appropriate for MoRTH to have consulted with the State Government before scheduling the State Level programmes. Therefore, I request you to instruct the department to coordinate with the state government while organising such programmes. Also, I request you to postpone this programme and provide me a couple of dates convenient to you, so that I would be able to join you in this significant state-level programme,' the letter read.
This comes as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, along with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), was organising a 'Dedication to Nation and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony' program on July 14 at Nehru Field in Shimoga district. (ANI)

"NRC through back door...": AIMIM chief Owaisi slams EC over SIR in Bihar
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 14 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday lashed out at the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, accusing the poll panel of trying to go beyond its constitutional mandate. He said the poll panel does not have a right to determine citizenship and said he had termed SIR as 'NRC through back door'. 'It is unfortunate that a constitutional body is not making a statement, and things are being revealed through sources. Who are these sources? Who gave the ECI the power to determine whether someone is a citizen or not? Our party was the first to say that SIR is NRC through the back door,' Owaisi said. He said the party members will be asked to meet BLOs (block level officers). 'SIR was conducted in 2003. How many foreign nationals were revealed at that time?' he asked. 'They (ECI) do not have the right (to determine citizenship)... The Home Ministry, SP Border have the right... Why are they doing this if they don't have the right... This is why I said that this is back door NRC... There are elections in Bihar in November. Why do they want to make the people of Seemanchal powerless...?,' he added. Supreme Court on July 10 allowed ECI to continue Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls while advising them to consider allowing Aadhaar, ration cards, and electoral photo identity cards as admissible documents to prove voter identity. The decision of SIR comes ahead of Bihar elections, which are expected to be held later this year. While the NDA, consisting of the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will strive for another mandate in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, consisting of the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will be looking to oust Nitish Kumar government. "Tejashwi, Rahul have a problem with constitutional bodies": BJP's Pradeep Bhandari on RJD leader remarks
New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): In a response to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's recent comments, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Monday accused the opposition of undermining democratic institutions. Labelling them the 'Gaali alliance,' Bhandari criticized Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for targeting the media, Election Commission, and Supreme Court, alleging they oppose fair constitutional mandates. Bhandari further said the people of Bihar will make sure the opposition stays out of power because of their abusive language. Speaking to ANI, the BJP Spokesperson said, 'These people are now abusing the sources of media as they are against democracy and the constitution. Be it the media, the Election Commission, or the Supreme Court, those who are functioning fairly and implementing the mandate of the constitution, Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi have a problem with them.' 'This is the same alliance that has made derogatory remarks against the people sitting in top constitutional people of Bihar will ensure that the people of the 'Gaali alliance' sit in the opposition,' he added. The BJP leader's remarks come after Tejashwi Yadav strongly rejected claims that the EC's SIR exercise had revealed the presence of names from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar on the Bihar voter lists. 'Who are these sources? These are the same sources that said that Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore have been captured. 'Ye sootra ko hum mootra samajhte hai' (We consider these sources to be nonsense),' Yadav told ANI. Yadav emphasised that SIR was last conducted in 2003 under the UPA government, and since then, multiple elections have taken place, including in 2014, 2019, and 2024, where the opposition lost by a margin of three to four lakhs. He questioned whether this implies that foreigners voted for Prime Minister Modi. 'SIR was conducted for the last time in 2003 under the UPA government. Since then, we have seen many elections, including the ones in 2014, 2019, and 2024. In those elections, we lost by three to four lakhs. Does that mean all these foreigners voted for PM Modi?' he added. Yadav alleged that the NDA is responsible for any dubious elements' names getting added to the voter lists, implying that their electoral victories might be tainted by fraud. He accused the Election Commission of working as a cell of a political party, calling the SIR process a 'complete eyewash'. Slamming both the Centre and Nitish Kumar, the RJD leader said that if any 'dubious names' were added in the voter lists, the responsibility lies with the government who has stayed in power since 2005. 'Since 2005, whose government has been in Bihar? NDA's government, BJP, Nitish Kumar's government is there. For 11 years who has been the Union Home Minister, who is the PM for the last 11 years? Modi and Amit Shah. This means that the NDA are at fault for any dubious elements' names getting added to the voter lists. That means all the elections they have won have been a fraud,' he said. Earlier, ECI sources said that many individuals from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar have been found by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) with Aadhaar cards, domicile certificates and ration cards during house-to-house visits carried out as part of the SIR. ECI sources indicate that, following a thorough investigation from August 1 to August 30, any names found to be true will be excluded from the final list scheduled for publication on September 30, 2025. Uttarakhand CM Dhami meets PM Modi in Delhi
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 14 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and sought guidance on various issues related to the development of Uttarakhand, a release from Uttarakhand CMO said. Expressing gratitude to the Central Government for its cooperation in the development of the state, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Uttarakhand is ready to play its effective role in the vision of Developed India 2047. The Chief Minister said that all Indians are proud that 27 countries of the world have conferred the highest civilian honour of their country on the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister presented the Prime Minister with a replica of Kartik Swami Temple and a coffee table book on Adi Kailash Yatra as well as Uttarakhand products Kanar (Dharchula) ghee, red (Purola) rice, Basmati rice, black cumin, Jambu and local honey. The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to direct the concerned to provide funding through CSR for infrastructure development under the master plan of Haridwar Ganga Corridor, Rishikesh Ganga Corridor and Sharda Corridor in Champawat, just like Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham. The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to set up semiconductor industries to develop the Nepa Farm in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, as a semiconductor hub, extend the Regional Rapid Transit System between Delhi and Meerut to Haridwar and direct the concerned ministries to include provision for road construction in the Tanakpur-Bageshwar and Rishikesh-Uttarkashi rail projects. The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister about the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra to be held in Uttarakhand in the year 2026 and said that extensive environment-friendly infrastructure facilities have to be developed for its operation. The Chief Minister invited the Prime Minister for this mountainous Maha Kumbh Nanda Raj Jat Yatra to be held in August 2026 and also requested the Centre to provide an amount of Rs 400 crore to ensure infrastructure facilities in the Yatra. The Chief Minister said that a divine and grand Maha Kumbh is to be organised in Haridwar in the year 2027. The state government has started preparations for this. Following the successful organisation, additional works are to be undertaken in Haridwar, including the repair of bridges, parking, electricity, drinking water, toilets, transportation, and footpaths for devotees. The Chief Minister requested financial assistance of Rs 3500 crore for this. The Chief Minister also asked to direct the concerned to approve the DPR of Rs 1015 crore sent by the Uttarakhand government for undergrounding the HT and LT power lines in Rishikesh and Haridwar cities as well as automating the power system under the RDSS scheme. The Chief Minister said that the state government is making efforts to restore the unique heritage Chaurasi Kutia, located near Rishikesh, to its old form. The required funds have also been arranged for this. The Chief Minister requested for the approval of the proposal of Chaurasi Kutia from the National Wildlife Board. The Chief Minister said that in the first phase, a preliminary proposal of the Pindar-Kosi link project has been prepared to connect the snow-based rivers with the rain-based rivers. Suppose the water of the glacier-based Pindar river is mixed with the rain-based Kosi, Ganges, Gomti and Yamuna rivers. In that case, about 2 lakh population of 625 villages of Bageshwar, Almora and Nainital districts will benefit from drinking water and irrigation. Along with this, the drinking water supply will be improved for approximately 1.25 lakh people in Garud, Kausani, Dwarahat, Ranikhet, and Almora towns. The Chief Minister has requested that this project be taken under the special scheme of the Government of India. The Chief Minister also urged the Prime Minister to grant permission for the development of five hydropower projects of a total capacity of 596 MW in line with the recommendations of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India. The Prime Minister took detailed information from the Chief Minister about the Chardham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Nanda Rajjat Yatra, and Kumbh to be held in Haridwar, as well as the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of all possible cooperation from the Central Government for the development of Uttarakhand. (ANI)
