The DMK's social media post highlighted several concerns including the NEET ban, education funding, Tamil Nadu's democratic research representation, Keeladi archaeological findings, and Tamil language funding support.
In response to recent political developments, Palaniswami called for unity among like-minded parties to defeat the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu.
"All like-minded parties should unite to defeat the DMK, which is anti-people and whoever wants DMK to get defeated, we are happy to form an alliance with them.
Their cooperation is needed for this -- that is my opinion," Palaniswami stated after launching his election campaign logo.
The AIADMK leader maintained openness to alliances, including with actor Vijay's newly launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), despite TVK's stance against partnering with the BJP.
Addressing Vijay's decision to contest independently, Palaniswami said, "That is his decision. Each party will criticise the other parties.
Based on that, he has criticised our alliance. All parties do this to develop their base; that is normal."
Expressing confidence about AIADMK's future prospects, Palaniswami stated, "This could be just an election campaign, but this campaign journey has a big goal. The goal is to defeat the Stalin Model DMK government. This journey is to reflect the flaws and failures of the DMK government and to remove them. This election campaign would bring a big change.

The party's Deputy General Secretary K P Munusamy released a campaign song alongside the new logo 'Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom' (Let's Protect the People, Let's Redeem Tamil Nadu).

HC dismisses plea against MBBS admission criteria
Panaji: The high court has dismissed a petition filed by a student seeking admission to the first year of the degree course of MBBS at GMC. She approached the HC after being aggrieved by the stipulations for admission in 2025-26, which restrict the eligibility of candidates in the general category to those who have passed Class XII or equivalent from schools or colleges in Goa, and are the state's residents. She stated that she was born to parents originally from Udupi in Karnataka, who in 2004 chose to settle down in Calangute. Both parents are doctors. The petitioner completed her schooling at Sharada Mandir and then got admitted to a college in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, which runs a residential programme in higher studies. This was because her brother had secured admission to BITS Hyderabad, and her parents, being professionals, were at times required to travel out of Goa. She appeared for her Class XII examination in Andhra Pradesh and secured 98.1% marks. The HC held that there is enough competition among students in Goa who have continued to reside in the state and also took the qualifying examination from an institution in Goa before appearing for NEET-UG and securing a ranking. 'Such candidates form a distinct class from those students who passed the qualifying examination from an institution outside the state of Goa, and, according to us, the classification between the two is reasonable and has a nexus with the object of reserving 85% of seats in govt medical college for those students who are domiciled in the state and also who cleared the qualifying examination from an institute within the state,' the HC said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ranked: The 25 Best Cities To Live In The World Learn More Undo It said, 'It is also not a case that the petitioner is completely ousted from the competition, as she can still compete in the 15% of seats, which are reserved in the All India quota in the state of Goa, and depending on her merit and standing in the merit list, she may take up a seat in Goa Medical College, which the rules permit,' said the division bench comprising justices Bharati Dangre and Nivedita Mehta.

Dhirios banned in Goa, but still held: Petitioner to HC
Panaji: Govt has assured the high court that it would look into the issue of bullfights, known as 'dhirios' in Goa. Advocate general Devidas Pangam gave this assurance after the HC was informed that dhirios were occurring rampantly in the state. Radhakrishna Salgaonkar has filed a contempt petition in the HC, alleging that despite the court's directions and a ban on bullfights in Goa, the activity has continued unabated. As proof, he presented an Instagram post promoting bullfights. He also drew the court's attention to a detailed complaint he had made to authorities, including the chief secretary, the DGP, the Animal Welfare Board, the director of animal husbandry and veterinary services, and the cybercrime police station. He alleged that none of the authorities took any cognisance of his complaint. The HC told the advocate general to obtain instructions regarding Salgaonkar's contention that some social media profiles were now deleted, but information about bullfights, and the sale of bulls for these fights, remained on social media. The division bench of the HC said that before issuing a notice to govt under the Contempt of Courts Act, the advocate general has assured the court that he would look into the matter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo The court asked Salgaonkar to provide any information on dhirios to the advocate general and directed that the petition be listed on Aug 18. In 2023, the HC directed the DGP to prepare an action plan to prevent bullfights in Goa. The court directed the DGP to identify the organisers and suggest mechanisms with which police officers would be granted authority to prevent bullfights. People for Animals filed a contempt petition attaching several news reports, including six by TOI between Jan and Aug 2021, on bullfights taking place in Goa and bulls dying as a result. TOI reported at the time that bullfights were occurring almost every day between 3pm and 4pm, when there was less movement on roads, in the jurisdiction of the Colva police station. Statistics at the time indicated that South Goa accounted for double the illegal bullfight cases compared to North Goa, with the HC informed that most of these took place in the jurisdiction of the Colva police station. In Jan this year, TOI reported that one of the attendees of a bullfight near Benaulim beach was gored to death. Last month, the South Goa collector held a high-level law and order coordination meeting to prevent such events. The collector issued directions to police to maintain round-the-clock surveillance and take immediate action to prevent dhirios. She directed the deployment of various intelligence-gathering methods to identify locations where the illegal activities were being planned and to ensure swift intervention.
