Nigel Mansell to join Goodwood's star-studded F1 75th anniversary lineup
Mansell will be behind the wheel of two significant cars from his career: the Williams FW14B, which secured his 1992 Championship, and the FW11, the car that could have won him the 1986 title had a dramatic tyre failure not cost him the crown in the final race. The FW11 will be displayed with support from the Honda Collection Hall.
From his first race in Formula 1 in 1980 to his retirement in 1994, Mansell became known for his fierce competitiveness and aggressive, sometimes breathtaking overtakes. During his career, he racked up 31 Grand Prix wins, 14 pole positions and a reputation for relentless determination. His driving earned him fans not only in the UK, but in Italy, where he was nicknamed " Il Leone" during his time at Ferrari, and in the US, where he followed his F1 title by winning the IndyCar World Series in 1993.
Mansell's F1 journey wasn't without its ups and downs. After a difficult start with Lotus, he found success with Williams, winning his first Grand Prix in 1985. By the time he retired, Mansell held the record for the most wins by a British driver, a record later surpassed by Lewis Hamilton.
His connection to the Goodwood Festival of Speed goes back to 2006, when he first took part in the event. Over the years, he has driven some of his most memorable cars, including the 1982 Lotus 91 and, in 2022, his 1992 Championship-winning FW14B. In 2023, the FW14B made another appearance, this time driven by Sebastian Vettel, running on sustainable fuel as part of Vettel's "Race Without Trace" initiative.
At the 2025 Festival, Mansell will join other F1 legends to mark the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship. Fans can expect a special reunion of champions, including Alain Prost and Mario Andretti, with more iconic names to be announced.

During his five years with the Silver Arrows, Bottas partnered Lewis Hamilton in one of the most dominant eras in Formula 1 history. In many ways, he was the Scottie Pippen to Hamilton's Michael Jordan – undervalued and underappreciated. He contributed to five consecutive Constructors' Championships, securing 10 Grand Prix victories, 20 pole positions and 67 podium finishes. Though often cast in the role of supporting Hamilton's title campaigns, Bottas demonstrated both speed and resilience, earning respect for his work ethic and commitment to the team. Malaysia has no plans to host Formula 1 Grand Prix again, says minister
Malaysia has no plans to bring back the annual Formula One race due to high sponsorship costs and a tight racing calendar, its sports minister Hannah Yeoh told parliament on Thursday. Malaysia previously hosted a leg of the F1 world championship at its Sepang International Circuit (SIC) between 1999 and 2017. Yeoh said the event would require a commitment of about RM300m (R1.26bn) annually for between three to five years, more than double the government's development costs for 20 national sports programmes. Malaysia would also have to compete with other hosting countries in Southeast Asia, such as neighbouring Singapore and Thailand, for a spot on the tournament calendar, Yeoh said. The Thai government in June approved a $1.2bn (R21.26bn) bid to host a F1 race in Bangkok in 2028. Malaysia however remains open to hosting the event if any private companies were willing to bear the costs, Yeoh said, adding that interested parties can get in touch with the SIC for further discussions. 'The Formula 1 is a prestigious sports event that is followed by fans around the world. So if we could afford it, it would be good to have it in Malaysia,' she said. State energy firm Petroliam Nasional Berhad, or Petronas, which is wholly-owned by the government, holds the naming rights to the SIC, which continues to host MotoGP races and other motorsports events. Reuters reported last year that Petronas was planning to bring F1 back to Malaysia in 2026, citing sources, though the company said it had not held discussions to bring the race back to the SIC.

Oscar Piastri to have Australian Grand Prix grandstand named after him
Oscar Piastri will have a grandstand named after him at the Australian Grand Prix from next year, an honour the McLaren driver said was 'surreal'. The Piastri Grandstand will sit opposite the pit lane at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, the home race of 24-year-old Piastri. 'It is pretty surreal, it still feels weird racing at home – it is very cool racing at home,' the world championship leader said on social media. Other notable drivers with stands at Albert Park include Jack Brabham, Arthur Waite, Alan Jones, Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber. Piastri currently tops the drivers' standings with 284 points, narrowly ahead of McLaren team-mate Lando Norris, with 10 grands prix left in this campaign. Australia hosts the first race of next season. The naming of a grandstand is an honour typically reserved for sporting legends with a long line of achievements. Former F1 driver Webber said it was a reflection of Piastri's promising results so far as he pursues a first world crown. 'Clearly he is very comfortable at the elite level and making his presence felt, which is brilliant, and representing Australia in the way that the country likes to be represented,' he said in a statement.
