Emmerdale fans divided over shock kiss
Emmerdale fans have been divided after Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) cheated on husband Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) with her ex-fiancé Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).
Charity was struggling after losing the baby she was carrying as a surrogate for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), and took herself to the pub to get wine drunk in the middle of the day.
Noticing that Charity was on the path to self destruction, Vanessa took her home and, after consuming even more wine, Charity leaned in to kiss her.
For some Emmerdale fans, this is the moment they have been dreaming of ever since Vanessa and Charity split in 2020.
Others, however, have grown fond of Charity and Mack's relationship.
Therefore, it is no surprise that there has been a mixed reaction to the sudden kiss from Metro readers.
'No I like Charity and Mack together,' Marie Leith told us on Facebook, and she is not the only one rooting for the couple, who have been married since 2023.
'Please don't put those two together again. I like Charity and [Mack] as a couple,' Jo King pleaded, while Diane Mcdougall agreed: 'M +C Together.'
Several other Metro readers agreed that they would prefer to keep Vanessa and Charity's relationship in the past, with Elaine Saunders saying: 'Please don't go there again.'
On the flip side, there are many Metro readers who are desperate to see Vanessa and Charity, or Vanity as they have been known, back together.
The couple share a rich history, having first kissed unexpectedly while locked in the cellar of the Woolpack together.
They supported each other through some incredibly tough times, including Charity's revelation that she was sexually abused as a child and Vanessa's battle with bowel cancer.
As a lesbian myself, I am definitely team Vanity! With their first ever kiss having aired on my 18th birthday, I was obviously invested from the get-go.
Not only are they great representation for lesbians, they also have a really interesting dynamic. Vanessa draws out the softer side of Charity while Charity brings out Vanessa's feistiness.
I don't know if they are a couple who would ultimately work long-term, but I do think there is some unfinished business that I'd love for Emmerdale to explore.
They even adopted each other's youngest children, though ultimately their relationship wasn't meant to be.
However, this kiss has given Vanity fans hope that maybe something will be rekindled.
'Hoping they can find their way back to each other. Vanity are endgame. Thank you Emmerdale,' Ally Kiesslinger wrote, adding: '5 years later and they still have the chemistry yay.'
Shanna Rattan agreed, and even called for Charity to end things with Mack.
'Vanity endgame let's hope Charity dumps Mack,' she said. Who do you think Charity should be with?
Over on Twitter/X, Metro readers were equally as excited, with user @My6Percent comparing the kiss to a religious holiday for the LGBTQ+ community.
'I was not prepared for Queer Christmas to start so early!' They wrote.
Despite the length of time Charity and Vanessa have been apart, Michelle thought this kiss was 'worth the wait', adding: 'It still feels like a dream oh my gosh what an ending.'
Meanwhile, Serabee revealed that they 'screamed and cried' during the scene, before going on to beg Emmerdale 'not to spoil this, to let it be something'.
How things are set to play out between Charity, Vanessa and Mack from here remains to be seen, but there will surely be some juicy drama ahead. More Trending
When I spoke to actress Michelle Hardwick at the British Soap Awards this year, she refused to rule out a Vanity reunion.
'Everything changes so quickly, and from script to script. You never know. But hey, Vanessa's single! Who knows what's going to happen?' She told me.

Doctor Who star's show dropped from UK streaming service confirms ITV launch
More than a year after it was pulled off Paramount Plus, a mystery drama starring Jodie Whittaker is returning to UK screens. A month after it aired in Australia, the series One Night was made available to UK viewers in November 2024. The six-part series followed friends Tess (Jodie), Simone (Nicole da Silva) and Hat (Yael Stone), whose lives have been changed by 'the traumatic events of one night in their hometown twenty years previously'. It was teased of the show: 'One Night is the story of three women whose bond was all but destroyed by the traumatic events of one night 20 years ago. 'Since then, Simone has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. 'But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess (Jodie Whittaker) and Hat (Yael Stone), her two childhood best friends. 'As it becomes harder to prise fact from fiction, one person's memory and story from another's, the book threatens to derail all their friendships, bringing old traumas to the surface of the small coastal community where they grew up, and stirring its perpetrators, who want to make it all go away.' Despite it being labelled a 'very solid crime drama' by critics, One Night suddenly disappeared from Paramount after just three months. It was explained at the time that this was due to the platform reportedly shifts towards a focus on Hollywood-style content with mass appeal and wider cost-savings efforts. However, ITV has now announced it will be bringing the show back and allowing viewers to tune in again – or for the first time. One Night will now stream in full from Saturday August 16 and will also air that night on ITV1. At the time of its release, The Guardian wrote the following about One Night: 'The overall effect is very much of an Australian Big Little Lies – a female-centred story played out mostly amongst affluent people in shiny clothes and shinier houses.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'With strong performances and a diverse cast, it demands attention — but its biggest triumph may just be in the conversations it sparks after its watched,' The London Evening Standard shared. 'The show might have benefitted from unspooling its central narrative over fewer episodes because after the halfway mark the drama becomes less character-driven, skating into crime mystery territory. But the acting throughout One Night is incredible,' The Age added. One Night was the first TV role since playing the first female Doctor for Jodie. Reflecting on what drew her to the project, the 41-year-old actress explained that the drama depicted a story about sexual assault in a way that felt 'completely unique' to her. 'What made this completely unique to me and completely engrossing was the change of POV [point of view],' she told Metro. 'Very often it's told from outside in – there's an investigation, there's detectives, there's people working things out. This is about the decimation something like that can have. 'It's also about how the event – whether it happened a minute ago or 20 years ago – is defining for a group of women that it affects, particularly this friendship group. But also what it's about is how we all survive something like that and who owns memory, who has the right to tell stories, and especially if that story is true.' More Trending One Night was created and written by the award-winning Emily Ballou (The Slap, Taboo) and directed by Catherine Millar (The Twelve, The Secrets She Keeps) and Lisa Matthews (Doctor Doctor). It also stars Kat Stewart, George Mason, Erroll Shand, Noni Hazlehurst, Tina Bursill (Doctor Doctor), William Zappa, Damien Strouthos and Jillian Nguyen. One Night is streaming on ITVX from Saturday August 16. It will air that night at 9.30pm on ITV1. View More » A version of this article was originally published on February 5, 2024. Got a story? Emmerdale fans shocked to discover top music star once appeared on ITV soap
Emmerdale fans have been shocked to find out that a famous singer once appeared on the ITV soap a decade ago, just before he found mainstream success in music Emmerdale fans have been left shocked after learning that a top music star once appeared on the ITV soap more than a decade ago. In 2015, Dominic Richard Harrison signed up to play the part of Matt, wh o had a short stay in the fictional Yorkshire village as a potential love interest for Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper). Two years after his stint on the ITV programme, Dominic had reinvented himself under the stage name of Yungblud, and has since released four albums, the latest of which was titled Idols and came out in June. But upon discovering the truth, Emmerdale fans flooded social media with their reactions. One wrote on X: "How did I not notice him!!" whilst another said: "Right petition for Dom to get back to the village.". A third penned: "@Yungblud how didn't I notice you in emmerdale" and a fourth simply said: "This is so cute." It comes after ITV makes major decision on I'm A Celebrity's future after talks with officials. The following year, Yungblud starred in the Disney series The Lodge, which functioned as a musical and mystery drama that centred on the life of Skye Hart (Sophie Simnett), a teenage girl who relocates to rural Northern Ireland when her father takes over the North Star hotel. The musician had a recurring role as Oz, a singer who featured as a love interest for the character of Kaylee (Jade Alleyne). His roles in Emmerdale and The Lodge are so far his only two credited acting roles, but Yungblud is not the only singer to have started out on a soap opera. Spice Girls star Mel B appeared as Bettabuys worker Amy Nelson in Coronation Street in 1993, having been drafted in to film a single scene as the character when original actress Louise Duprey decided to suddenly quit. In the years that followed, Mel enjoyed major success alongside Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham as part of the world's best-selling girl band in history. What's more, her bandmate Emma, who was known as Baby Spice, had appeared as a mugger in BBC soap EastEnders before finding global fame. Before finding success as part of The 1975, Matty Healy appeared as an extra in the first series of Waterloo Road when his mother Denise Welch starred as hapless French teacher Steph Haydock. Louis Tomlinson was also seen on the BBC school drama in the years before he shot to fame as part of One Direction. And Sam Fender, now best known for hits such as Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles, appeared in an episode of the detective series Vera. At the time, he joked: "I got killed in the first ever episode of that ITV detective programme called Vera set in the North East. I lasted like 10 seconds, I think.' For Yungblud, the news comes just hours after he was hailed the new Prince of Darkness thanks to his close friendship with the late Ozzy Osbourne. He said: 'I want to achieve what Ozzy did. He was a great inspiration to me.' Ozzy and Doncaster-born star Dom, became friends after the Brummie rocker appeared in the video for Yungblud's song The Funeral in 2022. The pair bonded over their shared love of music and their rebellious nature, with Ozzy gifting Dom one of his famous crucifix necklaces. Yungblud was among huge bands such as Metallica and Guns N' Roses who performed at Black Sabbath's final gig at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5. He gave a heartfelt rendition of Changes, the No1 hit Ozzy recorded with daughter Kelly in 2003, to the 45,000-strong before Ozzy's death, Dom hinted he was working with Sabbath star and at a possible secret recording with his mentor, saying: 'There is a lot in the works as me and Ozzy are friends.' The wild man of rock died aged 76 on July 22 at home in Buckinghamshire after suffering a cardiac arrest. Dom was among big names from the music world, such as Sir Elton John, James Hetfield of Metallica and Marilyn Manson, who attended Ozzy's funeral in Birmingham on July 30.

Emmerdale fans 'rumble who kills John Sugden' as three characters 'to team up'
Emmerdale fans think a new twist on the way will lead to John Sugden's downfall on the ITV soap, and that he could meet a grisly end at the hands of three characters Amid the news of another shocking death looming on Emmerdale, fans believe time could be up for John Sugden. He could be about to trigger his own downfall with a deadly action, and fans think three characters will ensure his grisly end as a result. John has got away with his crimes for too long, including the murder of Nate Robinson, the framing of Ella Forster, his attack on Aidan Moore and him leaving Owen to die. He's also targeted many villagers and left them in danger so that he can then save them and be the hero. It comes as it was reported last week that Mackenzie Boyd is being killed off, making him the next victim of killer John. But amid Robert Sugden currently being the only one to suspect his brother is hiding something dark, fans are now guessing how John will ultimately be exposed and caught. So far John has remained undetected and everyone, except Robert, is singing his praised including his husband Aaron Dingle. With Aaron being Robert's ex-husband, villagers are convinced Robert simply has a vendetta against his sibling out of jealousy. But one new theory off the back of Mack's reported death could see three characters team up and take John down. The theory suggests that the characters in question will find out at some point who killed Mack, as well as Nate, and it will spark a revenge twist. Viewers believe after Mack and Nate's murders, Charity, Cain and Moira Dingle will all want to avenge this and kill John. With Charity being Mack's wife, Moira being his sister and Cain being his brother-in-law, not forgetting Nate is Cain's son, fans have wondered if the trio will plot payback. Might news of Mack's demise and John being rumbled lead to him meeting just as dark a fate as his victims? Fans think so, with one writing: "John will have killed Cain's son, Moira's brother and Charity's husband. And you really don't want to cross those three. "There is no way he is getting out of Emmerdale alive." Other fans are desperate for it to be Robert who exposes John and takes him down after the way he's treated him, and with no one believing him. It comes after the reports of Mack being killed off, yet to be confirmed officially by Emmerdale. While not announced it's thought to happen at some point soon, with Mack set to unearth what John has been up to. Just months ago it was teased"life-changing" scenes were on the way this September for Mack and best pal Aaron. Now it's stated that Mack is leaving the show after five years with actor Lawrence Robb thought to be bowing out of the show, with scenes already filmed. It was only a matter of months ago that Mack was onto villain John, leading to John framing him for the slurry leak on the farm. Mack dropped his vendetta against the character deciding he was a good person, but it seems something leads to him realising this isn't the case.
