The teen, who spent time pregnant and homeless, unwittingly ran into a man who she encountered during her time sleeping rough. 5 5 5 Fans of Emmerdale will recall how April disappeared at Christmas amid her secret pregnancy and family unrest. She lived on the streets before eventually finding a squat where she stayed and begged for cash on the streets as well as witnessing brutal murders and attacks. April suffered her own trauma when she miscarried whilst homeless before being raced to hospital suffering from complications. Now, in scenes broadcast during the latest Emmerdale episode, April is forced to relive her horror ordeal when she comes face-to-face with a man who suggested he could perform a disgusting act on her because she was homeless. In the episode, April began working alongside Belle and the Take A Vow business amid struggles with schooling. She was tasked with helping out with a local christening and filming the day's proceedings. But when the dad of the child set to be christened walked into The Woolpack, April was visibly taken aback. A flashback then saw April sleeping rough as two drunk guys approached her. One man could be heard asking: "Why are we so wasted?" The other man then stated that he was "bursting" in a reference to needing to use the toilet. Emmerdale newcomer Bradley Riches reveals soap bosses allowed him to re-write his scripts for new role as Lewis Barton His pal then shockingly encouraged him to "go on him" after mistaking April for a man. Hitting back, the vile man then said: "Him? You need your eyes testing, he is a little girl." Then then asked April if she wanted a drink before throwing their remaining beer at her as the man begin to tug at his belt and unzip his jeans. April then began to get up and attempt to flee the situation as the man in question continued to unbuckle his trousers with a plan to urinate on her. 5 5 The homeless teen managed to get away with the man shouting a shocking comment to her, having already referenced one vile act. As he tugged at his jeans once more, he remarked: "Fancy earning yourself a quick fiver, do you?" The scene then cut back to April as she looked on in fear inside the pub. But will April tell everyone about her encounter with the vile man? Or will it be another secret she is forced to live with from her time on the streets? 'All over' for John as he's plunged into several wedding nightmares in Emmerdale

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The wedding of Emmerdale sweethearts John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) is almost upon us – and stressed-out John is plagued with pre-marital nightmares. And who can blame him for feeling nervous? Since arriving in the village, John's struggled to keep his secrets buried, between comatose ex Aidan Moore, and his accidentally murdering Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). John's managed to keep the suspicions of Aaron and sister Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) at bay for the most part, although the interference of Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and people learning about Aidan have only added to the pressure. And now, with the lake where he disposed of Nate's body set to be dredged, John fears that the net might finally be closing in. With the wedding quickly approaching, John's anxieties begin ramping up, and he experiences a series of terrible nightmares, envisioning the many ways it might go terribly wrong. Can John keep his composure long enough to tie the knot? It's week of the wedding, and John is distracted by nightmares of being arrested for Nate's murder when he should be preparing to marry Aaron. Meanwhile, Moria Dingle (Natalie J Robb) watches anxiously as workers begin dredging the lake. And, when Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) reveals that the dredging has begun, a panicked John starts packing his bags, ready to flee. Aaron catches him as he's making his escape, but John makes out that it's just pre-wedding jitters – and, as soon as Aaron leaves, John finishes his packing and drives away. Later, hiding at the lake, John receives a loving text from his future the workers pack up their tools with the news that dredging has been cancelled, John breathes a sigh of relief. However, his plans to proceed with the wedding are thrown into chaos when Aidan's mother, Cathleen, arrives – bearing the news that her son hassuddenly arisen from his coma and is asking for John. As his wedding day grows nearer, sleeping John is tormented by fresh nightmares – Aidan, interrupting the wedding. Jolting awake, John is worried about Aidan's sudden return to consciousness. Reassuring Cathleen that he has time to visit, he heads off to the hospital – followed by Aaron, who is fearing the worst. The next day, John's nightmares continue, and this time John suffers visions of Aaron backing away at the altar, claiming that he doesn't trust John. Snapping back to reality, he watches Aaron storm away, convinced that John is still in love with Aidan. Meanwhile, back at the Woolpack, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Victoria awkwardly cover for the missing grooms. John finds Aaron, and attempts to explain himself. Aaron is unreadable in the face of John's excuses but, as they arrive at the venue, it seems as though the wedding is back on. With Mack a no-show, Aaron enlists father figure Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) as his best man, getting the ceremony underway. Amid all the unfolding drama, star Oliver Farnworth has revealed what's going through John's head during this stressful time. 'There's so much jeopardy surrounding John the week of the wedding. Aidan's in his hospital bed. For all intents and purposes John thought he would be there for the rest of his life and he could go and visit him,' Oliver said of Aidan's sudden awakening. 'Now he's woken up and John's been confiding in him all the time. How much of it does he know and does he remember?' Oliver continued: 'We don't know what Aidan's going to reveal. Not necessarily the things John has imparted to him about recent events, but what's he going to reveal about events from quite a long time ago? So there's that jeopardy as well.' Meanwhile, his nerves and sense of guilt are also at an all-time high as a result of the slurry leak, which left his young nephew fighting for his life. 'It's all his own making as well, because he tries to stitch Mack up and it backfires and the water supply is poisoned and people end up in hospital,' Oliver said. This, in turn, leads to the lake needing to be drained, which will inevitably lead to the discovery of Nate's body – 'the worst thing that could happen when he's meant to be getting married!' It's no wonder he's experiencing sleepless nights, then… another risk, given his habit of sleep-talking. More Trending 'There's a lot of sleepless nights for him. The problem with that is he's having nightmares and talking in his sleep, so he becomes terrified of going to sleep because he doesn't want anything to come out while he's asleep. 'It's just a big web that he's pretty much created for himself and he's constantly putting out fires, very much in a state of flight during that week – but also excited about getting married.' Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars fear soaps ‘could be MERGED forever' to save cash amid ITV cuts

ITV staffers are still reeling from Tuesday's dramatic culling of Daytime, which left many big names fearing for their jobs. And according to insiders, 5 Soap stars are said to be bracing themselves for Corrie and Emmerdale to merge amid the ITV cuts Credit: ITV 5 It's been announced Lorraine will run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year Credit: Shutterstock 5 And Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot, again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year Credit: Shutterstock That's the big concern from cast and crew working on ITV juggernauts Coronation Street and Emmerdale, who are anticipating major changes in the coming months, most of which are filling them with dread. A TV insider told The Sun: 'After the Daytime announcement, the big feeling within the soap departments at ITV is the cost-cutting focus will shift to them. 'There's been some seismic changes already over the past year in regards to penny pinching and many believe that's just the start. 'Given the big audience figures and institutional history within ITV, soaps used to have an untouchable feel about them. More on Coronation Street 'But that's changed significantly and they now feel more vulnerable than ever.' Earlier this year, ITV announced from January 2026, Bosses attempted to spin the new streamlined output by branding the new soap schedule as ITV's new 'Power Hour', with Emmerdale airing at 8pm followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm, Monday to Friday. However, the move is expected to cut up to 75 jobs, with many crewmembers already drafted into redundancy meetings. Most read in Soaps And with former Managing Director of Continuing Drama and Head of ITV in the North John Whiston retiring this month, Iain MacLeod - who has helmed both Emmerdale and Corrie before - has been promoted. The Executive Producer for Continuing Drama is now Creative Director and takes on all editorial responsibility for leading the creative teams who produce both Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Reporting directly to the managing director of ITV, Iain will be the last word on both shows, adding to a feeling that a merge, at least backstage, is coming. But another great concern is also looming surrounding ITV chiefs have gone on record to confirm the special episode, which will see the many of the characters from both soaps cross paths, as a 'one night only' experience. ITV Daytime Shake-Up: Major Changes to Lorraine and Loose Women Revealed However, insiders claim the move is not just a gimmick to publicise the new schedule, it's also a mini experiment to see if crew can work across both soaps in another cost-cutting exercise. The TV insider added: 'The crossover episode has provided much fanfare but there is a deeper reason behind it. 'Viewers may think it's just Ken Barlow turning up in the Woolpack or Mandy Dingle popping into Roy's Rolls, but behind the wacky plotlines is a genuine glimpse into the future of how crewmembers will be expected to work, being across both soaps. 'It's a galling prospect for many but could end up being a reality and there's a feeling significant savings could be made on production costs - even if the quality of the output will be seriously affected.' And another big worry coming from the talent-side is yet more episode cuts. The move to reduce episodes from six to five came as a shock to cast and there's an expectancy the only way is down from here. Another source said: 'Castmembers on both soaps are fuming and also concerned by the cuts. 'Their livelihoods are at stake and they feel it puts incredible pressure on the downsized teams to produce the same quality output with over 200 jobs cut. 'It feels like a kick in the teeth,' added the source. The Sun revealed earlier this year cost-cutting on Corrie even saw bosses cut back using multiple characters on each episode to keep appearance fees down. ITV's daytime TV schedule changes in full Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6am to 9.30am daily. Lorraine will run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run from 6am to 10am. This Morning will remain in its 10am-12.30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year. Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot, again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. The changes will take effect from January 2026. Historically, cast would get a standard fee for appearing in an episode - even if it was for just one scene - but that's now been scaled back. And the older stars, many of whom are on big contracts, have been overlooked in favour of using cheaper newcomers. ITV showed their ruthless streak this week but culling award-winning shows including Loose Women and Lorraine, Long-running panel show Loose Women will now only be shown in term time and Lorraine has been cut down from one hour episodes to 30-minutes - also airing 30 weeks of the year. The move comes despite Lorraine Kelly's show seeing a ratings spike and Loose Women winning awards. Bosses want both shows, as well as This Morning, to be directed and produced by one team sharing resources and operations. The culling of Daytime, and the feared butchering of Coronation Street and Emmerdale, will free up more cash for ITV to make blockbuster dramas, such as Mr Bates vs The Post Office, and improve coverage of big sporting tournaments including the World Cup, which they see as big revenue drivers. Just like soaps used to be… An ITV spokeswoman said: "These claims aren't true. ITV has been clear that the crossover episode is a one-off occasion to launch the new scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale in January 2026. "Both programmes will then continue to broadcast separate, individual episodes. "The crossover episode will be purely story driven and is a first for British Soap. "The idea certainly hasn't been conceived for financial reasons. In fact the spectacular combined launch episode will cost a great deal more than regular episodes. "We are proud to have the opportunity to be able to deliver this special moment for fans of both programmes." 5 Corrie legend Ken Barlow, played by Bill Roache Credit: ITV 5 Long-serving Emmerdale resident Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Riley Credit: ITV
