Emmerdale confirms pregnancy story for Charity
Sarah's baby journey has had a mother of a rocky start. Due to her fanconi anemia diagnosis, it became apparent that surrogacy agencies would almost certainly be unable to help.
After an attempt to convince Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) to act as a surrogate, Charity stepped up for her granddaughter, vowing to aid her in her bid to become a mother when all other options seemed exhausted.
The first embryo transfer failed following Charity suffering a fall while out on a walk with partner Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
After discovering she was bleeding, Charity later confided in ex Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).

Next week, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) offers to pay for another transfer using funds he's been hiding from his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb). More Trending
Sarah is grateful and the embryo transfer goes ahead. The following day, Charity is confirmed pregnant.
As an elated Sarah plans a celebration in the Woolpack to announce her news, privately, Charity secretly sinks into despair.
What's troubling her?

This Wednesday season 2 filming location has a devastating haunted past
A staircase in a chilling castle is the site of a tragedy that haunts to this day. Wednesday season 2 has finally dropped today on Netflix, reuniting fans of the mega hit with the ever-magnificent Jenna Ortega as the titular teen goth. Before part one was released, Metro had the chance to visit Ireland's gothic Charleville Castle, one of the filming locations for the creepy new series. There, I heard the gasp-inducing tale of the little girl Harriet, who died there over 160 years ago, but is said to still haunt the halls. The second season of Wednesday was filmed in a variety of new locations, after the production moved from Romania to Ireland – albeit with Romanian actor Victor Dorobanțu as the scene-stealing Thing still scuttling in tow. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. Among the Irish locations scouted out for the new bundle of episodes is the gothic Grade I listed fortress Charleville, in County Offaly, whose crow and bat-topped corridors have been walked by Jenna, Tim Burton – and us, as I was treated to a visit. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video As I walked through the mammoth wooden double doors into Charleville Castle, it was instantly clear why this was the ideal spot to unspool Wednesday's tale of mystery and mayhem. The rooms are moody (getting the right lighting to take pictures for this article was a task) and filled with antique furniture, which made it easy to imagine it as the site of a gruesome death. We were soon told that the castle is a lore-laden place where things are said to go bump in the night. By things, we mean creepy ghost children. I didn't experience anything too spooky while walking through the lofty castle – unless you count getting a glimpse inside the library's secret passageway, which features in the show. However, it's easy to imagine how the shadowy corners could prey on a scaredy-cat. I would not want to stay the night. One of the spots that was used to film scenes for Wednesday season two was Harriet's staircase, a gloomy spot that takes on even gloomier significance when we're told an eight-year-old girl tragically fell to her death there. The story goes that the youngest daughter of the third Earl of Charleville, who once upon a time owned the castle, was asked by her governess to go upstairs and wash her hands before a meal. On the way back down the gloomy three-story staircase, Harriet is said to have clambered up onto the bannister to slide down. She slipped and fell to her death on the flagstone tiles below. A brass guard was subsequently installed on the bannister to stop those who might have a similar idea. Since then, the staircase has become one of the castle's hotspots for so-called activity… of the paranormal kind. Bonnie Vance, 75, who helped form a charitable trust to restore the castle after it fell into disrepair and lives there with her son, said she has only seen the ghosts 'occasionally', but often hears them. What is it that she's heard? Children giggling, voices talking, the scraping sounds of furniture being moved in rooms that stand empty. (Yikes.) She later learned the jangle of children playing was coming from a room that had once been a nursery. Guests at the castle have heard who-knows-what move in the night and asked to switch rooms – again, I would not want to stay the night. Most of the spectral racket takes place in the small hours from 2am to 3am. One unassuming bedroom – an imposing bed decked out in scarlet red covers, next to arched windows that don't come with curtains attached – is supposed to be a hub of ghoulish hijinks, with a door that has been reported to lock people in and out at will. Bonnie shut the door when we were inside, leaving everyone with a brief but queasy feeling. 'My official statement on the ghosts is I don't believe in them,' says Bonnie's son Jonathan, the only one of her three children who stuck around to help manage the castle, 'but I won't say it loud enough for them to hear me.' Bonnie insists that she isn't scared of the ghosts ('They're friendly') and speaks very tenderly of late Harriet. What the Wednesday cast made of all these eerie tales, we don't know. They were spared an overnight stay, instead setting up in the nearby town of Tullamore. But Ortega and co did get on very well with the castle's black cat, Mirka, who was known to take up residence on their hot water bottles. (The castle has no central heating and hit-and-miss power supplies). Leap Castle. Many were locked up and executed at Leap Castle and it now has a reputation that puts it in the running for most haunted house of all time. Said to be haunted by a demon with a decaying face, among a few others. Eek. The Hell Fire Club . This old hunting lodge had an 'anything goes' mantra, with noble members who wouls once dabble in black magic and summon Satan. With a name like that, it's not surprising. . This old hunting lodge had an 'anything goes' mantra, with noble members who wouls once dabble in black magic and summon Satan. With a name like that, it's not surprising. Loftus Hall. Built in County Wexford during the Black Death, this mansion is also a spot said to have been visited by Satan and legend goes he still lurks there now. The castle was one of the locations that Wednesday director Tim Burton signed off on, as the production had the double duty this season of not only finding a whole new roster of Irish locations, but ones that would pass for their predecessors in Romania. The reason for the swap? Locations manager Maria O'Connor, who's been in the screen locations biz for over 30 years and worked with Wednesday's showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar on Into The Badlands, said they chose Ireland because the creators have loved working there in the past. The country isn't spoiled for choice of gothic castles, so Charleville was an easy decision. As were many of the picks, Maria said, since the Edward Scissorhands director isn't one to hum and haw. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it sounds like Tim's company is not of the dull variety. When scouting out the building that would become Nevermore Academy's exterior (with an ornate new canopy digitally plonked on top in post-production) Tim tasked Maria with scrambling up ladders to get onto the roof for a proper looksee. This building sits within Powerscourt Estate, the other chief location used, beside Ashford Studios for the interior scenes, and owned by the Slazenger family (of the sporting gear). A mossy foliage-covered graveyard was one of the spots, with smoke machines pumping away during moody night shoots, just inches from the Slazenger family's private graveyard in the corner. The 19-hectare County Wicklow estate has swanky gardens, a dramatic nearby waterfall and a 36-hole golf course – which avid golfer Catherine Zeta Jones made full use of while filming. There was less of a requirement for this part to fit into the mould of what had gone before, since it serves as the home of new cast addition Joanna Lumley's character Hester. Whether the location changes will be picked up by ardent Wednesday fandom (of which suggested names online have included Woes, Outcasts and Thursdays – because it follows Wednesday…) remains to be seen. The episodes we have seen certainly look more lush than previously, but County Wicklow is referred to as the Garden of Ireland after all. The attention to detail has certainly been paid, down to replicating the exact same tree layout as that shot in Romania. Not that Maria overly hypes how hard it all was, simply describing it as 'tricky'. More Trending But Wednesday is now in Ireland to stay. Filming for the third season kicks off this November, and the Addams family car has stayed in situ in the meantime. As has the Nevermore Academy chandelier, with head-sized orbs of light that hang over the main staircase in Charleville Castle. It was a gift from the production. Although you almost feel they've done enough. The castle might have claims of otherworldly visitations, but if anything, that will only make the curious Wednesday loyalists – who were devout enough to visit Romania in droves – even more eager to take a look in. Prince Andrew and Fergie's wild marriage secrets exposed from 'affairs to brutal revenge'
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's unusual marriage has been plunged back into the spotlight as a new explosive biography makes fresh allegations about the couple Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are something of a 'royal odd couple'. Having divorced in 1996 after ten years of marriage, they are now closer than ever and the two 'best friends' still reside together at Royal Lodge. And while it's been nearly 20 years since they officially ended their union in 1996, the spotlight is now firmly back on Andrew and Sarah's love story, thanks to a new biography on the disgraced Duke and his ex lover. Author and historian Andrew Lownie's biography,' Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York,' seen by The Mirror, offers an in-depth look at the couple's unconventional relationship and dramatic marriage. Andrew and Sarah were introduced to each other in June 1985 by Princess Diana, and embarked on a whirlwind romance, getting engaged in February 1986 and marrying that July. In many ways the timing was perfect; Andrew's one-time actress girlfriend, Koo Stark, had married another man, while Sarah had given up on the idea of her live-in boyfriend, older racing driver Paddy McNally, ever proposing, Lownie's new book notes. But the royals had reservations, according to the author, who writes that 'jolly hockey sticks' Sarah just couldn't stop talking inappropriately - which reportedly raised eyebrows with the Queen and Prince Philip. Lownie writes: "Even Sarah's own family were not sure about the relationship. With characteristic candour, her father stated: 'She's either in love with Andrew or in love with the Royal Family and I think it's the latter.'" Nevertheless, the 'fairytale' wedding went ahead - but it didn't take long for cracks to emerge. The couple had few mutual interests and Andrew was rarely there. The well regarded historian notes in the book that as a naval officer, the Duke was either at sea or on a base far away from her - one year he spent only 42 days at home. Andrew reportedly told Sarah of his priorities: 'I am a prince, then a naval officer, then a husband.' The disgraced royal is also said to have embarked on multiple affairs, allegedlly sleeping with 'more than a dozen women' before his first wedding anniversary. Sarah, too, found affection elsewhere. There were instant sparks when she met American playboy Steve Wyatt in November 1989, and they embarked on an affair, the book claims. The following year, Sarah and Andrew welcomed their second child Eugenie, but their marriage was allegedly all but over. The author notes that Sarah remained close to Wyatt, and he was one of 800 guests invited to Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen Mother's 90th birthday, Princess Margaret's 60th, Princess Anne's 40th and Prince Andrew's 30th. According to the book, the Queen asked her whether Wyatt was 'quite the sort of person you should be encouraging, dear'. But Fergie seemingly ignored the warning and continued the affair – until he returned to the US, apparently in an attempt to make his fortune before he proposed to her. His friend John Bryan saw an opportunity to swoop in and invited her to dinner at La Tante Claire, Lownie states. According to the book: "They slept together that night, after which he reflected: 'Here she was jumping into bed with me. I couldn't believe that anyone behaved with such reckless abandon.'" Some months later Sarah was involved in a major public scandal when she was photographed in August 1992 on holiday with her 'financial advisor' John Bryan. Fergie was seen rubbing sun cream on the head of Bryan, kissing him, lying under him and letting him kiss or lick her toes. According to friends quoted in the book, Andrew accepted his wife's infidelities - perhaps because he was having affairs of his own. Sarah, however, was said to be jealous of any of Andrew's girlfriends. "She wanted to remain 'The One', with all the perks that brought, and girlfriends were invariably dispatched through a mixture of charm and ruthlessness," the biography claims. Elsewhere in the book, Sarah's spending comes under scrutiny, including claims that she had debts totaling hundreds of thousands of pounds paid off by the late Queen after living a life of "opulent excess". It's alleged she had to be bailed out on "several occasions", including one payment of £500,000 in April 1994 when the bank Coutts "demanded £500,000 within 14 days". After a string of failed business ventures, which often traded on her royal connections, including putting her name to a chain of retirement homes that went bankrupt, Sarah reportedly had debts in excess of £3.7 million by 1994. The book is the latest in a string of blows for Sarah and disgraced Andrew - who was stripped of his military titles and royal patronages by the Queen in 2022 in light of his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He is described as 'vulgar' and 'sex-obsessed' in the book, which claims that he has slept with over a thousand women. Those Andrew has shared a night with allegedly include adult film stars, politicians and bartenders, according to an investigative journalist quoted in the biography. Lownie claims that when Andrew represented the monarch at the King of Thailand's diamond jubilee celebrations in 2006, he demanded that more than 40 women were brought to his hotel room in Bangkok during his stay. And one 20-year-old model recalled how 'kinky' the Duke was after they allegedly met at a charity function before sleeping with him twice in a hotel. One excerpt reads: "'He wanted me to engage in kinky sexual activity,' she remembers. 'He had no boundaries. He told me he had an open marriage arrangement with his wife. After returning to London, I never heard from him again. I felt like he used me for a few days, so he could live his wildest fantasies.'" The book also claims that Palace staff were aware of Andrew's behaviour. "It seemed everyone was aware of his behaviour, but little was done about it," one insider is quoted as saying. Buckingham Palace and Sarah Ferguson's team declined to comment.
