Grab donates rescue boats, hot meals in Marikina
Grab also provided more than 4,000 hot meals to various evacuation centers in the city to support families affected by the bad weather.
These donation efforts form part of Grab's broader community resilience efforts, particularly in areas that are vulnerable to seasonal disasters.
'We believe that bayanihan is more than just a Filipino tradition—it is a shared duty we uphold, especially in times of need. We remain steadfast in identifying communities where support is needed most and stepping in with urgency and malasakit,'' Grab Philippines managing director Ronald Roda said in a press release.
''Marikina, long vulnerable to the forces of nature, is one such community. This donation is one way we're turning that commitment into action,'' he added.
Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro thanked Grab for its assistance to the local government.
''Higit ito sa simpleng kagamitan. Ito ay simbolo ng malasakit at pagtutulungan sa pagitan ng pamahalaan at pribadong sektor tungo sa mas matibay na kahandaan sa panahon ng sakuna. Sana nga po ay hindi na namin magamit o kailanganing gamitin ang mga ito. Pero malaking ginhawa ang malaman na handa tayo kung kinakailangan,'' Teodoro said.
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to affect the country on Tuesday, dumping rains over several areas which have led to flooding and swelling of rivers.
The water level of Marikina River reached the critical third alarm with 18.3 meters on Monday evening.

At least 26,000 individuals affected by typhoons and severe weather in Pangasinan received help from GMA Kapuso Foundation. According to "24 Oras," Wednesday, nearly P10 billion in infrastructure damage nationwide was caused by Typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, with over P1 billion of that damage specifically recorded in Pangasinan. Under Silong Kapuso Project, GMA Kapuso Foundation provided roofing materials to homes that had lost their roofs. Among those who received aid were Lola Estrilita, whose original roof was destroyed, forcing her to temporarily use makeshift tin sheets, and Deby Ann Tactaquin, who constructed a small temporary shelter from scattered tin sheets. Relief goods were also delivered to affected residents. "Malaking tulong po itong binigay ng GMA Kapuso Foundation. Hindi po namin akalain na mabibigyan po ang Sual," Sual Pangasinan MSWDO officer Ma. Lourdes Sabido said. Overall, seven Pangasinan towns received help through the program. After this, GMA Kapuso Foundation will head to Benguet and La Union for further aid distribution. UAE sends condolences to PH after bad weather left 34 dead
The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday extended its condolences to the Philippine government after Typhoon Emong, along with two other tropical cyclones and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), drenched Metro Manila and northern and central Luzon this month, killing at least 34 people. Tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the Habagat, caused massive flooding and landslides, prompting mass evacuations. 'The UAE has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines over the victims of Typhoon Co-may (formerly Emong), which struck Luzon Island accompanied by heavy rainfall,' the UAE embassy in Manila said. 'The typhoon resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage to property.' Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed its 'sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the Philippines over this tragedy, along with its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.' The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday that 18 were injured and seven others were missing. More than 1.8 million families were affected by the disaster, and at least 20,000 remain in temporary government shelters. There were 586 road sections and 35 bridges damaged, it added. Iloilo City under state of calamity due to impact of enhanced 'Habagat'
The Iloilo City Council has approved in its regular session on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a recommendation made by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) to place the city under a state of calamity. The declaration, according to the Iloilo City Government, was made following 'assessments on the impacts of the southwest monsoon (Habagat), enhanced by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante and Emong that recently affected the city.' It was cited that the basis for the recommendation is the 'total exposed population to flooding and storm surge, based on 2024 Philippine Statistics Authority data, which is 240,304.' In addition, it was cited that 'fifteen percent of the forecast affected population, based on science-based projection, is 38,062.' Based on the CDRRMO Situation Report as of July 28, 2025, the population affected due to flooding reached a total of 44,723, while at least 12,158 were affected by storm surge.
