'Didn't Know Until I Was in My 30s:' Man Buys Air Freshener. Then He Realizes You're Not Supposed to Remove It From the Package

Motor 111-07-2025
It seems no one stops to read the directions on their car air freshener tree.
Turns out, there's a science to getting the air freshener to last as long as possible—and the instructions are easier than you'd think.
Did You Know?
In a viral video with more than 4.5 million views, life hacks connoisseur Sidney Raz (@sidneyraz) shared something about your car air freshener that you probably didn't know.
'Here's something I didn't know until I was in my 30s,' Raz said.
It turns out that you shouldn't remove car air fresheners completely from the packaging.
Instead, you're supposed ot pull the plastic down to expose the top of the tree and expose a bit more as each week passes. This not only increases the longevity of the air freshener, but it also lets you control how strong you want the fragrance to be.
'What?!' Raz said in the caption.
Are These Instructions Real?
If you're still in denial about this, we're unfortunately here to burst your bubble.
Little Trees, the leading tree-shaped air freshener company, wrote in a
product description
that its trees can last up to 7 weeks if you follow the instructions, which are to 'Open top of bag along dotted lines. Pull bag down to expose top of tree. Each week, expose more or less of tree to adjust fragrance strength. Hang freely!'
The History Behind Scent Trees
In 1952, chemist Julius Sämann spoke to a milk truck driver complaining about the smell of spilled milk. To help the matter, Sämann combines fragrances with a blotter material, thus inventing the first car air freshener, according ot the company's
about page
.
He shaped it like an evergreen tree to honor his years extracting aromatic oils in Canada's pine forests.
There are now dozens of scents available, with Black Ice being a fan favorite.
And the little fragrance trees aren't just for cars, they're also used in places like lockers, closets, and even bathrooms.
Commenters React
'No wonder I almost faint every time I ride a taxi with one of those hanging on the rear view mirror!!' a top comment read.
'You mean I'm not supposed to expose the whole tree and get choked out every time I get in my car until it loses its scent a week later??' a person said.
'Could they at least make it look aesthetically pleasing?' another wrote.

Short Sellers Are Betting Against This EV Stock, and Shares Are Tearing Higher

Electric vehicle (EV) stocks have been volatile in 2025, driven by clean energy policy changes. While giants like Tesla (TSLA) and Rivian (RIVN) often dominate the headlines, some smaller EV players have become prime targets for short sellers looking to profit from their struggles. However, high short interest can sometimes have the opposite effect, fueling powerful rallies when traders rush to cover their bets. One of the latest examples is Faraday Future Intelligent Electric (FFAI). The stock surged to a new six‑month high on July 24 after a burst of buying activity sent short sellers scrambling. With more than a quarter of its float sold short, Faraday's recent rally has been amplified by meme-style trading momentum. Here's why FFAI's short squeeze is turning heads and what it could mean for investors watching this embattled EV stock. More News from Barchart Morgan Stanley Says Nvidia Has 'Exceptional' Strength. Subscribe today! About Faraday Future Stock Founded in 2014 and based in California, Faraday Future designs and builds electric vehicles. The company currently has a relatively small market cap of $228 million. Last week, shares of Faraday Future Intelligent Electric surged dramatically amid a wave of retail 'meme' trading, jumping 44% in a single day. Despite this gain, FFAI stock remains down 6.6% year to date, as production delays and cash-burn concerns continue to weigh on investor confidence. Financial Overview Despite its innovative tech, the company is not generating any meaningful revenue yet. In Q1 2025, Faraday reported minor revenue of $300,000 million from two FF 91 vehicle deliveries and a net loss of $43.8 million. The balance sheet remains lean. Unrestricted cash was only $9.5 million as of March 31. Total net assets were $139.8 million, reflecting recent funding. To shore up liquidity, Faraday announced in July 2025 a $105 million financing package consisting mostly of 5-year convertible notes and warrants. Existing institutional backers, notably Master Investment Group, participated in the initial closing of $82 million. This deal should substantially increase cash on hand. Deliveries remain very low. Faraday delivered 10 FF 91s in 2023 and only four in 2024, generating modest lease revenue. In Q1 2025, it delivered two units, one in California and one in New York. No public data exists yet for Q2 deliveries. The Bottom Line Despite the hype, Faraday Future faces major risks. Financials remain weak, with minimal revenue and few cars delivered. The company has received multiple Nasdaq delisting warnings due to its low share price and missed filings. Its 10-Q includes a 'going concern' warning. In 2025, Faraday also received a Wells Notice from the SEC tied to its special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger. While meme momentum and product announcements fuel volatility, the business remains unproven. Investors must weigh speculative upside against serious threats. Tesla brings its robotaxi service to San Francisco (sort of)

Tesla has rolled out a ride-hailing service in San Francisco, but the lack of a permit to allow it to accept fares from passengers means that it can't yet call it a robotaxi service. The first Tesla Model 3 and Model Y cars hit the streets of San Francisco on Thursday, just over a month after the launch of its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, where it does have the proper permits. Recommended Videos A video uploaded by a passenger to X shows a Tesla employee with his hands touching the steering wheel as the car drove along in FSD (Full self-driving) mode, Tesla's advanced driver-assist feature. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) stated recently that at the current time, Tesla has to have a safety driver behind the wheel for testing, as well as to transport members of the public, Reuters reported. The regulator added that the automaker has to undertake a pilot phase that imposes no charges on passengers before applying for full-autonomous permits, a process that Reuters says took competitors such as Waymo 'years' to complete. Tesla is inviting employees' friends and family, and select members of the public, to participate in the early stage of the service. In June, the automaker launched its first robotaxi service in Austin, with a safety monitor sitting in the front passenger seat, not the driver's seat. And unlike the Tesla's ride-hailing cars in San Francisco, Austin's Model Y vehicles have 'robotaxi' branding on the side. Musk said recently that Tesla is planning to get permits to launch its robotaxi service in a number of states, including not only California but also Nevada, Arizona, and Florida. In California, strict regulations have prevented Musk from experiencing the kind of rapid robotaxi rollout that was possible in Texas. Essentially, the San Francisco launch appears to be a strategic move by Tesla to maintain momentum in the autonomous-vehicle sector.

General Motors Company (GM): If It's So Bad, Why Did The Stock Move? Wonders Jim Cramer

We recently published . General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is one of the stocks Jim Cramer recently discussed. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) created quite a bit of a buzz in the markets after its latest earnings report, which saw the shares dip by 8% only to recover the losses soon. The stock dipped after management outlined a massive $11.1 billion profit hit from tariffs on Mexican goods. In his previous comments about the firm, Cramer has discussed how General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is more vulnerable than rival and peer Ford when it comes to tariffs. However, with the shares having recovered all of their post-earnings losses, Cramer wondered whether things were bad at all: 'GM went from 49 to 53 last week. If it's so bad. How bad is it? Are we supposed to go to 58?' Here's what Cramer said about General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)'s exposure to tariffs earlier: 'Yeah, GM, look they obviously have a, they obviously have a tariff problem, it's much bigger than a lot of people think. The theme of this quarter is that you have to have a tariff problem, then you make it smaller. RTX did that. It was like wow, we thought it was going to be like 800, it was going to be like 500. So when you see something that seems like a very large number, it's entirely possible that people say well wait a second, that's not so good. I'd like to point out that there was a lot that was good. And I think that Mary Barra is doing a very, very fine job. Because the only thing, added cost, but they're selling! And I think that those who wanna sell the stock, go ahead. I think that this is just another good quarter despite the tariff. I think they can handle that. Copyright: wihtgod / 123RF Stock Photo 'They're gonna have a lot more that I think can go their way. Uh, when I was speaking to Cleveland Cliffs yesterday, to Lorenzo Goncalves. . I mean he's just talking about this is the beginning of a lot of different things. Very in flux. GM has. .has much, much exposure. Versus Ford. . . Because everyone in the industry knows that there's a lot of companies ship a lot of stuff. Get to Allison Motor, down there in Mexico, it comes back. GM, David, it's like back and forth with the car. . .that is not what they want.' While we acknowledge the potential of GM as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk.
