The house that Roy Keane built but simply can't score a sale

Extra.ie17-05-2025

Take a sneak peek around Roy Keane's former Manchester pad that has been on the market for 15 years.
The eight-bedroom property includes a games room, extensive grounds, and there's also a master suite which is dominated by a massive four-poster bed with mirrors on the ceiling.
15 years after it first hit the market, Roy Keane still hasn't shifted his former Manchester mansion despite knocking €3.5 million off the asking price. Roy Keane watching a football match in his sitting room with former Arsenal striker Ian Wright. Pic: Roy Keane/Instagram
In 2005, for around £3.2m, ex-Man United midfielder Keane and his wife Theresa bought the 1.2-acre plot where they built a sprawling eight-bed property in upmarket Hale for around £3.2m
But in 2010, the house hit the market with an asking price of just under €10million.
But despite dropping the price of the house, Keane still can't find a buyer to take the pad off his hands. Keane bought the property when he was playing for Manchester United. Pic: Roy Keane/Instagram
Cork native Keane bought Chantry Dane in the footballer's enclave of South Sale Drive back when he was playing for Manchester United.
Notoriously private, the property is protected from onlookers by the tall trees that line the leafy cul-de-sac, supported by dense mature shrubs.
The extensive grounds provide the home with a countryside manor, rather than a suburban house and feature an outdoor swimming pool with an independent pool house and tennis courts set amongst the landscaping. The house is nestled among trees and expansive greenery. Pic: Roy Keane/Instagram
There's also a three-car garage and a separate annexe included.
But the real coup de gars of Keano's former love east has to be the enormous 28' x 25' master bedroom with en suite, dressing rooms and a four-poster bed with what appears to be a mirrored ceiling.
Aside from the master bedroom, there are seven more bedrooms which all appear to be decorated with various tones of brown. Roy Keane has shared images of his swimming pool and pool-house on social media. Pic: Roy Keane/Instagram
There are brown leather sofas, brown rugs, brown cushions, brown bathrooms, brown doors, brown bed linen and brown baths on show.
There's also a full-size snooker in the games room, a gigantic screen and in the kitchen, there is a bald AGA cooker and range for scrambling up some home-cooked grub. The house is still on the market. Pic: Roy Keane/Instagram
But despite the four-poster bed, the mirrors on the ceilings, the Aga and the swimming pool, Keane simply can't sell the house, and it is still on the market for anyone with deep pockets and a penchant for brown furnishings.

A series of celebrity figures shared posts on Sunday on Instagram recognising the father figures in their lives with photographs and videos of their families. Among the stars was former England football captain David, who shared photographs of him and his family including his wife Victoria Beckham and their four children, Brooklyn, Cruz, Romeo and Harper. The businessman and co-owner of Inter Miami posted on Instagram thanking his wife for making him a father, adding that it is his favourite job "in life". Moment Jack Grealish is ‘pranked' into paying fan's bill as Man City star is branded ‘such a generous guy'

JACK GREALISH was seemingly tricked into paying a holidaygoer's bar tab. The out-of-favour Manchester City ace is currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday in Greece after a long season. 5 A Swedish content creator tried to get Jack Grealish to pay his pool restaurant bill Credit: INSTAGRAM@ 5 Grealish seemingly signed the bill after being asked for an autograph Credit: INSTAGRAM@ 5 The Swedish star quickly walked away after seeming pulling a fast one on Grealish Credit: INSTAGRAM@ pool restaurant tab. Swedish content creator Patric Persson posted a video of himself getting the TikTok and Instagram story this weekend. In the video, Perrson is seen accepting the bill from the waiter before taking it over to Grealish and appearing to ask him for his autograph. Grealish, seemingly none the wiser, signed the cheque, which was presented as a normal piece of paper. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL The video, which briefly had "such a generous guy @JackGrealish" written over it, then cut to Persson handing the bill back to the waiter after pulling off what seemed to be an incredible heist. It soon, however, became apparent that the Swede's getting of Grealish to pay his bill was nothing more than a skit for social media. He pulled he wool from viewers' eyes by sharing a snap of himself and Grealish by the pool with the caption: "Dundergubbe [thunder guy] @jackgrealish." In a follow-up story update, it became clear the two had previously met as Persson tagged Grealish as the photographer of a pre-dinner snap of himself and other members of his holiday group.
