In a landmark collaboration set to reshape the midscale hospitality landscape, CG Hospitality Global, the hospitality arm of CG Corp Global and majority stakeholder in Concept Hospitality Private Limited (CHPL), has joined forces with Marriott International to launch Series by Marriott™—a bold new brand aimed at midscale and upscale travelers.
The alliance is anchored by the integration of The Fern portfolio, a revered eco-sensitive hotel chain in India. "This strategic collaboration represents more than just a portfolio expansion—it's the alignment of two shared visions to redefine the mid-market hospitality landscape," said Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Corp Global. "With this partnership, we're now setting our sights on taking The Fern to 500 hotels by 2030… This is a defining moment for The Fern and a bold new chapter for Indian hospitality."
CHPL currently operates over 120 hotels in 90 cities, with 40 more properties underway. This deal will add up to 84 Fern-branded hotels and around 6,000 rooms to Marriott's India portfolio—making it one of the largest multi-unit transactions in the country's hospitality sector. Additionally, Marriott will make a strategic equity investment in CHPL and enter a long-term co-branding agreement for The Fern, The Fern Residency, and The Fern Habitat brands.
The move is transformative for both organisations. The Fern will now benefit from Marriott's digital systems, global distribution platforms, and its renowned Marriott Bonvoy™ loyalty program, which boasts over 237 million members. Yet, the brand will retain its local spirit and operational independence.
"Series by Marriott furthers Marriott's commitment to delivering lodging offerings in the right place at the right price with basics done well," said Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International. "We are thrilled to launch Series by Marriott through our founding deal with CHPL."
This collaboration reflects a shared dedication to sustainability, responsible growth, and serving emerging and culturally vibrant destinations. It also underscores CG Hospitality's expanding global presence, with a portfolio of 195 hotels across 12 countries. Recently, CG and Marriott announced the conversion of The Farm at San Benito in the Philippines into an Autograph Collection resort, furthering their shared vision.
Together, CG Hospitality and Marriott are not just growing their portfolios—they are setting a new benchmark for the future of hospitality in India and beyond.

The fresh funding round was led by General Electric Pension Trust, alongside existing investors Norwest Venture Partners and Panthera Growth Partners. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Omnichannel furniture retailer Pepperfry has raised INR 43.3 crore (approximately USD 5.1 million) in a fresh funding round led by General Electric Pension Trust, alongside existing investors Norwest Venture Partners and Panthera Growth Partners. According to filings sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), General Electric Pension Trust invested the largest sum of INR 21.5 crore, followed by INR 8.52 crore from Norwest Venture Partners and INR 6.45 crore from Panthera. The Pepperfry board approved the issuance of 5,59,463 compulsory convertible preference shares at INR 775 each, raising funds on a private placement basis. The company stated the funds will be deployed "for the growth, expansion and general corporate activities of the Company." Founded in January 2012 by Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah, Pepperfry has become one of India's most recognised names in the online and offline furniture space. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company operates as a marketplace offering a wide selection of furniture and home décor products—ranging from sofas and beds to lighting, appliances, carpets, and outdoor essentials. Pepperfry uses an omnichannel strategy, combining a robust e-commerce platform with over 200 Studio Pepperfry experience centers across 100+ cities. It also works on a franchise model and collaborates with major brands like Godrej, Springfit, and Spacewood, listing more than 10,000 products on its platform. Valued at INR 3,120 crore (USD 367 million) post-allotment, Pepperfry competes with key players like Urban Ladder, and WoodenStreet. The company generates revenue primarily through commissions on product sales. This latest funding round comes amid efforts to tighten financial controls. Despite a 30.6% drop in FY24 revenue to INR 188.98 crore, Pepperfry managed to cut losses by 37%, down to INR 117.4 crore from INR 187.6 crore in the previous year. In a leadership update, co-founder Ashish Shah was elevated to CEO in 2023, and Madhusudan Bihani was appointed CFO a year later. "We remain committed to redefining the furniture-buying experience in India," said Shah, "and this investment gives us the fuel to accelerate our mission."

Airbus deliveries fell 4% in May, sources say

NEW DELHI (Reuters) -Airbus delivered around 51 airplanes in May, industry sources said, down 4% from the same month last year. The tally brings deliveries so far this year to around 243 aircraft, down 5% from the first five months of 2024. Airbus declined comment ahead of a monthly performance bulletin on June 5. The world's largest planemaker faces growing pressure from airlines over delays in deliveries as it aims for a 7% increase in handovers to customers for the full year to 820 aircraft. Airlines holding their annual gathering in New Delhi this week criticised manufacturers for supply problems that have persisted for several years since the pandemic, with the head of Saudi budget carrier flyadeal calling delays "inexcusable". Airbus has said it expects the delays, caused in part by slow arrivals of engines, to stabilise during the summer.
