Madden 26 Release Date And Pre-Order Info
Madden 26
Was it a Madden 26 or EA College Football 26 announcement? It was both, and it happened on Thursday when EA revealed the release dates, MVP pre-order bundles and trailer for both games.
I talked a bit about College Football 26, which releases on July 20 (July 7 for early access) here, but let's talk more about Madden NFL 26. The NFL game drops on August 14 and on August 11 for early access.
The trailer, which was tagged "The Call," clearly connects the two football games in a way that suggests there will be even more cohesion between the titles than it was in 2024 when EA brought the college game back.
In any case, here is a look at the trailer, what you'll receive in the MVP Bundle and more.
Here is a look at the trailer:

Here's what you will receive if you pre-order the MVP Bundle for $149.99:
For now, the MVP Bundle seems like the way to go—especially for those planning to play both titles. Early access to both games and exclusive in-game content make it a compelling option.
Having the ability to import draft classes from College Football 26 is the one feature that I'm hoping returns. Back in the days of the NCAA Football series, that feature brought more life to franchise and dynasty mode than anything else. It wasn't a part of the package in 2024, but the early signs are making me optimistic that we'll see it return.
I bug the EA devs every year about injury presentation in Madden. It's a small thing, but I love the immersion of a season in franchise mode. Thus again this year, it is one thing that I hope has been addressed.
There is another particularly interesting tidbit I'm hoping to see revealed with Madden 26, and that's the specifics of the game's utilization of Scott Hanson, the voice of NFL RedZone.
I wrote about Hanson reportedly joining the Madden team earlier this month. I can't wait to see if my dreams of a weekly wrap-up highlight show from around the NFL has been added to the game.
The use of Hanson adds another layer of intrigue. If he's more than just a voice in the menus and actually drives a RedZone-style experience within Franchise, that would be a game-changing leap in immersion. It's the type of presentation layer fans have been begging for: weekly highlights, real-time injury updates, and context-driven league-wide storylines. Combine that with a return to draft class imports and expanded customization, and Madden 26 could deliver a major way.
We should begin to see information rolling out about the games in June. the first wave will be heavier on College Football because it drops in July with Madden taking the handoff after its little brother is released.

Pittsburgh Steelers Ex 5th-Round Running Back Released From CFL Team
Pittsburgh Steelers Ex 5th-Round Running Back Released From CFL Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and fifth-round draft pick Jaylen Samuels is once again looking for a new home. Advertisement Samuels signed with the CFL's Ottawa Redblacks early last month but was released over the weekend as part of the team's final roster cuts. Samuels was one of 21 players cut. The 28-year-old was drafted by the Steelers in the fifth round at No. 165 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former NC State Gamecocks running back played for Pittsburgh for three seasons, appearing in 14 games each year, spreading out eight starts. He totaled 459 yards rushing on 131 attempts with one touchdown. Samuel left Pittsburgh to join the Houston Texans in 2021 before signing with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022. He was cut before the season started that season. Advertisement He went back to Houston to join the XFL's Roughnecks in 2022 and then to San Antonio to the UFL's Brahamas in the 2024 UFL Draft. The Redblacks finished 2024 at 9-8-1 and in third place in the East Division, losing 58-38 to the Toronto Argonauts in the East Semifinal game of the playoffs. Samuel was without a team until the Redblacks came calling from the Great White North. At 28, he should still have a ton of football left in him, and he's now available to join any other team as a free agent - either in Canada or the US - to continue his career. As the UFL season is entering its playoffs, his opportunity there might come next season if he decides that's a path he'd like to follow. Former Oregon QB Turning Heads During NFL OTAs
Former Oregon QB Turning Heads During NFL OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Fans of the Oregon Ducks are likely clamoring for more after enjoying one of the best seasons in the history of the football program. They navigated the regular season, going undefeated through their first year in the Big Ten Conference after moving from the Pac-12. Advertisement The Ducks continued to impress after defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Championship game. Their dominance landed them the No. 1 overall pick in the College Football Playoff. However, the extra time off may have been detrimental, as they went from December 7, until New Year's Day without a game after four months playing essentially every week and fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were coming off a win over Tennessee. Former Oregon QB turning heads in NFL OTAs Dillon Gabriel was the leader of the high-flying Oregon offense and was eventually selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. However, a different former Ducks quarterback has been turning heads in NFL OTAs. Advertisement According to FOX 8 New Orleans' Sean Fazende, Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has made an impression. "Shough looks very comfortable with vertical routes & out-breaking patterns," Fazende said on "His best throw may have been an incompletion where he rolled to his left and threw off platform to the sideline. Right now, not quite as comfortable in intermediate middle of field." Shough spent three seasons with the Ducks. In his first two, he was backing up Justin Herbert before being handed the reins. He eventually transferred to Texas Tech and then Louisville before the Saints took him in the second round. After Derek Carr's sudden retirement, Shough is now a candidate to win the starting job with Spencer Rattler. Advertisement It remains to be seen what kind of chance Shough truly has to win the starting job, but after watching Rattler in parts of last season, the Saints could decide to give him a chance. Tampa Bay Buccaneers $84 Million Defender Antoine Winfield Jr. Predicted for Rebound Season
Tampa Bay Buccaneers $84 Million Defender Antoine Winfield Jr. Predicted for Rebound Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Like much of the rest of the defense, Tampa Bay Buccaneers star safety Antoine Winfield Jr. had a less-than-stellar 2025. Advertisement The former Minnesota Golden Gopher dealt with an ankle injury for two separate parts of the season, causing him to miss eight total games in his first season after signing a four-year, $84.1 million deal with $45 million in guarantees to keep him in Tampa Bay. Winfield posted 60 total tackles with 34 solo and two for loss with four QB hits, two sacks and a 58-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. While the Buccaneers have focused on improving one of the league's worst units from a year ago this offseason through free agency and the draft, a resurgent year from Winfield would go a long way toward the ultimate goal. Pro Football Focus named Winfield the Bucs' "bounce-back candidate" for next season. Advertisement 'Tampa Bay struggled to defend the middle of the field in 2024, due in part to injuries and a dip in production from star safety Antoine Winfield Jr", PFF said. "He posted a career-low 50.8 coverage grade and, for the first time in his career, failed to record an interception.' Winfield posted almost elite numbers in 2023, so we know the potential is there. And the ankle injury isn't expected to be a factor next season, so we could see his play return to that 2023 form. He'll turn 27 in August, so youth is still on his side. Tampa Bay is on an incredible run, tying a record four-straight NFC South titles, and has made the postseason five years running.
