10 Years Of Vengeance: Lucknow Man Murders Mother's Attacker, Then Throws A Party
He roped in four friends, Ranjit, Adil, Salamu, and Rehmat Ali, all on one condition, there would be a party after the deed.
What began as a mother's humiliation a decade ago ended in bloodshed, celebration, and arrest. In a chilling tale that sounds straight out of a Bollywood revenge thriller, Lucknow's Sonu Kashyap spent ten relentless years tracking down Manoj, a man accused of assaulting his mother. His obsession culminated in a brutal murder—and a party that would seal his fate.
Manoj, a coconut vendor, had assaulted Sonu's mother over a minor dispute and fled the area soon after. While Manoj vanished, Sonu's desire for vengeance only deepened. Earlier this year, Sonu finally found Manoj in Lucknow's Munshi Pulia area and began planning his attack.
He roped in four friends, Ranjit, Adil, Salamu, and Rehmat Ali, all on one condition, there would be a party after the deed. On May 22, they ambushed Manoj after he closed his shop, bludgeoning him with iron rods. Manoj succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The murder might have gone unsolved, but the celebratory party that followed turned out to be their undoing. Photos from the gathering, featuring drinks, music, and dancing, surfaced on social media.
The saga of revenge ended not with triumph, but with handcuffs, an extraordinary reminder of how grudges can consume years, and ultimately, lives.

Request To Recuse Judges In New Diego Maradona Trial Denied
The request was denied, as the judges found the grounds of the request to be merely speculative and conjectural. The request by the defence to recuse two of the judges appointed for the trial of the medical team of the late Diego Maradona over the Argentine legend's death was rejected on Wednesday. Advocates of Maradona's personal physician, Leopoldo Luque, who is among seven people charged with culpable homicide over the World Cup-winner's passing, had requested for two members of the judicial panel to be removed from the case, over a fear of partiality. The request was denied, as the judges found the grounds of the request to be merely speculative and conjectural. The first trial into Maradona's 2020 death collapsed in May after one of the judges was sensationally revealed to have taken part in a clandestine documentary about the trial. A new three-judge bench was appointed in July to conduct a fresh trial. No date has yet been set for the new trial. Maradona was the star man of the Argentine side that clinched the FIFA World Cup in the year 1986 as the icon from Dique Lujan etched his name in history books with his astounding showings that made the world acknowledge his magical abilities on the ball. Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 while recovering from brain surgery. He died from heart failure and acute pulmonary edema, a condition where fluid builds up in the lungs, a few weeks after the medical procedure. His medical team faced trial over the conditions of his home recovery, which prosecutors described as grossly negligent. They could face prison sentences ranging from eight to 25 years if convicted of homicide with possible intent or for pursuing a course of action despite knowing it could lead to his death. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Instagram Copies More Snapchat Features: Now Lets You Repost Other's Reels
Last Updated: Instagram repost is the new way to share Reels from other people and the platform now also lets more privacy-focused additions. Instagram is taking its Snapchat love to a new level with feature additions to the platform that looks to keep its users entertained. The platform is also making changes to one of its existing features that courted controversy and concerns around user privacy. Reels have become a core part of Instagram's identity, even though the short video form was copied from TikTok. And now the company is doing it again, bringing new features that already exist on other competition platforms. Instagram Repost Update And More Instagram is letting you repost Reels from all users, even those you don't follow or know on the platform. This works similar to TikTok, where all the reposted short videos will be visible in a dedicated feed and even comes into the feed of people you follow. Reposting has worked differently on Instagram for years and these slight changes to the interface and its function gives it a new purpose. Instagram users could only share the Reel from the Stories earlier but now it can go as it is. In addition to this, Instagram is giving more controls to how the location-sharing feature works between friends on the app. The live map tells you the location of friends who have given access to track them and tell others about their whereabouts. Snapchat users know it as Snap Map and now Instagram is bringing it for its users. The good thing is that you will need to manually opt-in to use the feature and is disabled by default for the privacy of the users. Instagram has faced criticism for its policies and focus moving away from being a simple photo-sharing platform of yesteryears. The Meta-owned app has pivoted to different sides, and even considered going fully 9:16 with its default ratio but sense prevailed and the company had to revert back to its earlier phase. It is a platform that heavily caters to creators these days, who want to connect with their fans and followers. Adding a whole new set of features not only confuses them but also keeps the users on their toes, especially when they are thrown new tools which they never asked for in the first place. view comments First Published: August 07, 2025, 11:32 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
