Teenmar Mallanna's office vandalised for his comments on Kavitha

The Hindu11 hours ago
Taking objection to the 'insulting and outrageous' comments against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha, her supporters and members of the Telangana Jagruthi stormed the office of MLC and YouTuber Chintapandu Naveen, known as Teenmaar Mallanna, on Sunday morning.
The protesters tried to enter the office of the YouTube channel run by Mr. Mallanna, and a scuffle broke out, leading to damage to furniture. The situation spiralled into chaos and Mr. Mallanna's gunmen tried to push the protesters out, during which several rounds were fired into the air inside the office.
Rachakonda police officials clarified that no one was shot. 'The injuries seen in the videos were not caused by bullets. His gunmen opened fire in the air in self-defence. The blood visible was due to cuts from broken glass structures during the commotion,' a senior officer said.
Videos from the scene show blood on the floor and shattered furniture strewn across the office, capturing the intensity of the confrontation. Police arrived soon after the firing and launched an investigation.
Mr. Mallanna, who was elected to the Legislative Council from the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam Graduates' Constituency in June 2024 with the Congress party's support, was suspended from the party in March 2025 for anti-party activities. He burnt the caste survey reports claiming that the population of BCs was suppressed.
The Telangana Jagruthi leaders claimed that Mr. Mallanna's comments were outrageous and highly insulting to women. He had used a proverb, used in a crude way in the rural areas to describe the relationship between two people and groups. They questioned how an MLC with some responsibility could use such derogatory words against a woman in public life, and continue to support his statement.
Meanwhile, Ms. Kavitha met Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy seeking action against Mr. Mallanna. She later met the DGP and demanded that a case be booked for outraging the modesty of a woman using obscene and offensive language with criminal interest. She also wanted action against the gunman.
Mr. Mallanna, however, charged that the attack was to silence him and asked how Ms. Kavitha was related to BC reservations when the Congress government had taken up the issue.

CM launches new ration cards; 80% of Telangana now gets free fine rice

The Telangana government created history in its welfare journey, launching the Statewide distribution of over 5.61 lakh new ration cards in a single phase on Monday, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy along with his Cabinet colleagues launching it in Tungaturthy in Suryapet district. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy said his government is determined to restore the self-respect of the poor through schemes like ration cards, farmers' insurance and loan waivers. He said 5.6 lakh new ration cards are sanctioned, 26 lakh people were added to the ration system and 3.10 crore people were receiving fine rice. He also promised to bring Godavari waters to the Tungaturthy through Devdula project. Food and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy called the move a 'revolution in public service delivery' and every eligible person would now be guaranteed a ration card. He said the BRS regime had denied lakhs of poor families their right to food, not only by refusing to issue new ration cards but also by blocking updates like the addition or deletion of family members, causing severe hardships for growing households. The launch marked the first large-scale ration card distribution in over 11 years, taking the total number of ration card holders to 95.56 lakh households, covering more than 3.09 crore beneficiaries, he said. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the ration card drive was part of a broader transformation that had made Telangana the first State in the world to provide 6 kg of fine rice per person to 80% of its population, entirely free of cost. The Minister said the scheme represented true welfare, inspired by the vision of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, under whose leadership the UPA government had passed the National Food Security Act. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy revealed that the Telangana government was now spending ₹13,000 crore annually to procure and distribute fine rice. No other State offers this level of quality grain free of cost. He also blamed the BRS government stating the Civil Supplies Corporation was crippled with ₹59,000 crore in liabilities and ₹11,000 crore in accumulated losses. The Congress government had not only revived the department but turned it into the engine of India's most ambitious welfare programme.

BJP raising Congress' internal matter to divert attention from real issues, alleges Lad

Labour Minister Santosh Lad, on Monday, alleged that the BJP has been looting the country's wealth for the last 11 years, and to cover up its scams and misrule, it is trying to highlight local issues and blowing them out of proportion. Speaking to the press persons in Hubballi on Monday, Mr. Lad said that the Congress-led State government has given good governance in the last two years. Instead of repeatedly pointing out 'fight for CM's chair', which is the party's internal matter, let them point out if any there is any mistake in governance, he said. He said that after Operation Sindoor was called off, American President Donald Trump repeatedly stated that he had stopped the war and disgraced India. Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trips to various nations to befriend them, 183 nations out of 193 sided with Pakistan. And Mr. Modi was forced to send Congress leader Shashi Tharoor to lead a delegation to other nations to present India's stand, Mr. Lad said, seeking to know why the Opposition is not raising questions over such issues. The Minister said that around two crore children had dropped out of schools across the country, and in Maharashtra, over 800 women had gotten their wombs removed to get work during their menstruation period. 'Should we not raise such issues? If we bring all these issues to debate, they will be in an embarrassing position. So to divert the attention, they (BJP) keep talking about our internal matter,' he said. Mr. Lad said that as per the RBI statement, ₹1.14 thousand crore of fake currency and ₹2,000 currency notes that were withdrawn were still in circulation. 'What steps has that Union government taken in this regard? They can criticise anyone on Earth, but we should not raise questions over real issues and seek answers from the Prime Minister. After all he is the Prime Minister of the country. Should we not question him?' he asked.

Chhattisgarh: Congress alleges fertiliser, seed shortage, govt rebuts

RAIPUR: The Congress on Monday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Chhattisgarh, blaming it for an alleged shortage of fertilisers and seeds in the state but the allegation was firmly rejected by the state agriculture minister Ramvichar Netam. Bastar: Farmers plough a field on the outskirts of Jagdalpur, in Bastar district, Chhattisgarh on June 8. (PTI FILE) Former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and Leader of Opposition Charan Das Mahant, who flagged the shortages during the Zero hour in the Chhattisgarh assembly, said the BJP-led Vishnu Deo Sai government had failed to ensure adequate supply of essential farm inputs such as urea and DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) fertilisers. 'The government appears to be deliberately creating an artificial fertiliser crisis to reduce paddy cultivation,' said Mahant. The Opposition claimed that the government reduced the target for DAP distribution for Kharief 2025 by 30,000 tonnes over last year's figures and only 1.01 lakh tonnes had been supplied so far. Similarly, 3.59 lakh tonnes of urea has been distributed aainst a target of 7.12 lakh tonnes, they said. Congress leaders said that while fertilisers are available in the open market, shopkeepers were taking advantage of the shortage in cooperative societies by engaging in black marketing. They said the small and marginal farmers, who make up 80% of the state's farmers, were the worst affected. Chhattisgarh agriculture minister Ramvichar Netam said the availability of phosphatic fertilisers depended on imports, which were under strain due to global conditions. Netam said the government had anticipated the supply chain challenges and started making arrangements for alternative fertilisers, he said. 'An estimated demand of 6.90 lakh metric tonnes of phosphatic fertilisers, 6.40 lakh metric tonnes have been stored and over 4.25 lakh metric tonnes lifted by farmers. Over 2.14 lakh metric tonnes still remain available,' the minister said. For urea, more than 6 lakh metric tonnes have been stored so far, of which 4.37 lakh tonnes have already been lifted by farmers, leaving over 1.62 lakh tonnes in stock, he added. He rejected the Congress's allegations, stating that the fertiliser demand is calculated for the full cropping season and supplies were still coming in. He also denied any revision in the DAP target, asserting that the government had instead arranged to store additional NPK and SSP fertilisers to compensate for any global supply disruptions. Netam also said that of the 4,81,730 quintals of seeds stored through cooperative and departmental means, 4,43,452 quintals had already been lifted by farmers, and over 38,000 quintals were still available. The minister added that a statewide crackdown on black marketing has ensured that all fertilisers are being sold at the prescribed rates.
