Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary on Tuesday said that he is 'against' the scheduled match between India and Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2025, beginning from September this year. His remarks came after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that the Men's Asia Cup 2025 will be hosted in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, and the high-voltage India-Pakistan match is scheduled for September 14.
While speaking to ANI news agency, Tiwary said, 'I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be held. Especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which civilians have been killed. After that, Operation Sindoor has taken place.' Team India are placed in which group in Asia Cup 2025?
Group A in the Asia Cup features India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong make up Group B. Tiwary believes the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment.
'The situation was so bad, how can we think of an India-Pakistan match. I feel that it should be considered again and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment,' he told ANI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday issued a stern warning to Pakistan from the Lok Sabha that if they dare to imagine doing anything against India, then they will be given a befitting reply, as India's Operation Sindoor is still underway.
Over his remark, Tiwary said PM Modi is saying that the Operation Sindoor is still underway, then how can a match against Pakistan be scheduled. 'Our Prime Minister is saying that the operation Sindoor is still going on…How can we play a match with Pakistan?' Tiwary asked.
Meanwhile, the tournament opener is placed between Afghanistan and Hong Kong on September 9. India will kick off their campaign against UAE on September 10, while the high-voltage game against Pakistan is scheduled for the 14th. India will play their final group stage fixture against Oman on September 19.
After the group stage, the tournament will proceed to the Super 4, where the top two teams from each group will qualify. The final is scheduled on September 28. Can India vs Pakistan match take place more than once in Asia Cup 2025?
Apart from their league match in Asia Cup 2025 on September 14, arch-rivals India and Pakistan can possibly face each other twice more in the tournament. If both teams qualify from the league stages, they can face off in the Super 4 stage.
In the Asia Cup 2021 edition, India and Pakistan met twice – in the league stages and the Super 4. After the Super 4, India and Pakistan can face off for the third time if they qualify for the final on September 28.

Piyush Goyal , commerce and industry minister, had told a high-level roundtable a few months ago that the IMEC is a powerful endorsement of the leadership and partnership of India and Middle East and East the time, the minister said IMEC was not merely a trade route , but a modern-day Silk Route , a partnership of equals, which fosters synergy, connectivity, and inclusive prosperity.'It will bring down logistics costs by up to 30%, reduce transportation time by 40%, and create seamless trade linkages across continents,' he said. 'We will not only be linking trade; we will be linking civilisations and cultures—from Southeast Asia to the Gulf, from the Middle East to Central Europe.'According to Shishir Priyadarshi, president, Chintan Research Foundation, a New Delhi-based think tank, IMEC is a game changer in India's push towards strong and rapid economic growth. "Karma Will Affect You": R Ashwin Blasts Ben Stokes' 'Joke' After India's Oval Miracle vs England

Ravichandran Ashwin 's analysis of the India vs England Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a pleasure to hear. While, as a player, he was always the one to have a thinking head when it came to outplaying rivals, off the field, Ashwin has shown a knack to be an eagle-eyed cricket expert, who does not miss anything. Same was the case when he analysed the memorable 5th Test at The Oval. While he had some very good things to say about the series, Ashwin also talked about the imprefection. "I want to talk about another imperfection in this series. There's a Tamil saying that loosely translates to 'Your karma will affect you almost instantly'. What you sow is what you reap," Ashwin said on Ash Ki Baat. "After the last Test, there were questions asked about the injury to Pant. Gautam Gambhir said that such injuries need a substitution. And when Stokes was asked about this response, he simply brushed it away, calling it a joke. I am a big fan of Stokes' cricketing abilities and his attitude. But he can think and then reply. " Chris Woakes walked in with his shoulder tucked inside his sweater. And was ready to give his life to win the game for his team, and almost did it too. He had the game awareness to run and give the strike to Atkinson Hats off to Chris Woakes. Remarkable attitude, and a remarkable way to step out for your team, and put your body on the line putting his body on the line" Ashwin also referred to a quote by England captain Michael Vaughan in the need for rules to evolve. 'Michael Vaughan said this is one area where the game can evolve. Substitutions should be allowed. All I'm saying is: show a little empathy for the other team. Stokes should have considered what it would be like if a player of Rishabh Pant 's calibre was in his team and got injured. Wouldn't you want a substitution? Wouldn't that be fair? You are free to share your opinion — but using words like 'joke' and 'ridiculous' isn't respectful. Think before you speak. Karma hits instantly," he said.
