He has been winless for both David O'Meara and James Owen but has run consistently well since moving to Newmarket. He ran his best race yet at Chester last month, going down by half a length to a Sir Mark Prescott improver, and though he has gone up another 2lb, his turn cannot be far off.

Ultimately well beaten when fifth on his Haydock debut a month ago, Charlie Johnston's charge was a 14-1 shot for his next assignment in what looked a strong contest on the Sussex Downs.
