Nick Nolte showed off his scruffy side when going out to an upscale dinner with some of his top Hollywood male friends.
The 84-year-old actor had long gray hair that was combed back and a fuzzy beard.
The 48 HRS actor was dressed casually in a light mint green shirt with one pocket that was not buttoned all the way up with no jacket.
The Cape Fear star added black slacks and sneakers that appeared comfortable.
The Hollywood icon looked healthy with a fresh Malibu tan.
He was joined by former costars Josh Brolin, 57, and Sean Penn, 64, at high-end Japanese restaurant Nobu which is on the coast of Malibu and co-owned by Chef Nobuyuki 'Nobu' Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, and businessman Meir Teper.
Sean also sported gray hair as he wore an olive green shirt over a dark blue T-shirt with shiny charcoal gray cargo slacks. White sneakers made him look ready for a power walk.
Brolin also was a silver fox with a deep summer tan as he sported a pale beige T-shirt and worn-in blue denim jeans, adding dark brown leather lace-up boots.
Nick, Sean and Josh all live in the Malibu area.
Nick and Sean worked on the 1997 Oliver Stone-directed movie U Turn with Jennifer Lopez so they have known each other around 30 years.
A year later they co-starred in the 1998 movie The Thin Red Line with Jim Caviezel.
They also appeared in the 2013 film Gangster Squad with Brolin. Nick and Josh were also seen in scenes together in 1997's Nightwatch.
Nick has been in Los Angeles working on the set of his latest project, the Amazon Studios movie Crime 101.
The Hollywood veteran was seen seated at a food court clad in a dark gray coat and pants with a button-up charcoal top. The Oscar-nominated actor looked dapper with his hair slicked back.
The Omaha, Nebraska-born star was joined on set by his castmate Chris Hemsworth in Southern California, as they are part of an ensemble cast for the Bart Layton crime drama.
Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mark Ruffalo and Monica Barbaro round out the principal cast of the movie.
Nolte, who has appeared in comedies such as Tropic Thunder, Down and Out in Beverly Hills and 48 Hrs., was subsequently seen with a production assistant on the set.
Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Babak Tafti, Payman Maadi, Deborah Hedwall, Devon Bostick, Matthew Del Negro, Drew Powell and Paul Adelstein are also in the movie, Variety reported last month.
The script, which was penned in part by Layton, is based on a novella from Don Winslow, the outlet reported.
According to a logline, the plot is based on 'a series of high level jewelry thefts up and down the Pacific Coast Highway that have gone unsolved for years.'
The perpetrator of the crimes acts under a protocol called Crime 101, the logline stated, which leaves authorities confused, thinking it is the work of South American cartels.
'Detective Lou Lubesnick's gut says it's the work of just one man,' the logline stated. 'Now the lone-wolf jewel thief is looking for that fabled final last score and Lou breaks all the rules of Crime 101.'
Other actors in the motion picture, including Berry and Keoghan have been seen on location for the movie in recent weeks on location for the film in Southern California.
Nolte spoke to Business Insider in November of 2022 about what keeps him compelled to remain playing new roles after decades of success in show business.
'I've always had something artistic outside of myself that I can turn to, so I'm still interested in the stories,' Nolte said. 'I don't really know what they are, as there are fewer and fewer of them these days.
'And I don't find the 80s particularly fun because you're falling apart in a way. But I've always said that I'll keep on going until I just can't go anymore.'

WNBA All-Stars dazzle fans with stunning fashion on the Orange Carpet

The WNBA All-Stars tipped off the weekend by showing off their best fashion fits Thursday, turning the orange carpet into their own catwalk. They walked across a stage at the Indianapolis convention center with hundreds of adoring fans cheering them. It was a fun new wrinkle to the WNBA All-Star weekend, showing off for the fans on stage. 'This was definitely a lot of fun,' said Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum, who wore a shiny long-sleeved red dress and heels. Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston, who wore a long, dark gown and heels, agreed. 'I think it just kind of gets the fans a little bit more excited about seeing all the outfits,' she said. WNBA players have been amping up their clothes game over the past few seasons, garnering attention off the court for their pregame fashion choices. Tunnel Fits — as the players arrival to the arena is called — is not new to the league, but it has risen to a whole new level of fashion. Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky wowed the crowd in a leopard print coat and stylish sunglasses. 'I missed this last year because of flight issues, but was so glad to be here this year for it,' Reese said. Reigning league MVP A'ja Wilson, of the Las Vegas Aces, wore a Di Petsa-designed maroon sleeveless gown that exposed her left leg from the hip and sported stunning gold Saint Laurent earrings. The New York Liberty's Natasha Cloud, who will compete in the skills competition on Friday night, admitted she was a little intimidated walking across the stage. 'It took me out of my comfort zone,' she said, sticking with pants and shirt. Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx loved the chance to walk across the stage, but as a mom of a young daughter, wished she knew that there was going to be kids in the audience, as she might have chosen a different, less revealing outfit, she said. ___

CBS cancels Stephen Colbert's late-night show, calling decision 'financial'

LOS ANGELES, July 17 (Reuters) - "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the most-watched late-night program on U.S. broadcast television and a frequent platform of satire aimed at President Donald Trump, will end its 10-year run on CBS in May 2026, the network said on Thursday. The show will be retired and Colbert will not be replaced. New episodes will air until the end of the broadcast TV season in May 2026, a network statement said. "This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount," CBS executives said in a statement. Paramount Global (PARA.O), opens new tab, the parent company of CBS, is seeking approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission for an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media. This month, Paramount agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by Republican President Donald Trump over an interview with his former Democratic challenger, Kamala Harris, that CBS's "60 Minutes" broadcast in October. Colbert told his audience on Thursday that he was informed of his show's cancellation the night before. The audience booed, and Colbert responded: "Yeah, I share your feelings." "I'm not being replaced. This is all just going away," the 61-year-old comedian said. "The Late Show" debuted in 1993 with David Letterman as host after he was passed over for NBC's "The Tonight Show." Colbert, a regular on "The Daily Show" before he hosted "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central, took over "The Late Show" in 2015. "It is a fantastic job," Colbert said on Thursday. "I wish somebody else was getting it, and it's a job that I'm looking forward to doing with this usual gang of idiots for another 10 months." He thanked executives at CBS, his show's audience and the 200 people who work on the show. Senator Adam Schiff of California, a Democrat, was a guest on Thursday's episode. "If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better," Schiff wrote on X. Late-night shows have seen their audiences shrink as viewers have shifted from traditional television to streaming. "Our admiration, affection, and respect for the talents of Stephen Colbert and his incredible team made this agonizing decision even more difficult," said the statement from Paramount Co-CEO and CBS CEO George Cheeks, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf. CBS canceled another late-night show, "After Midnight," in March. That show had run immediately after the "Late Show." During the second quarter of 2025, the most-watched late-night program was "Gutfeld!" on Fox News Channel with an average audience of 3 million, according to Nielsen data. "The Late Show" drew roughly 1.9 million viewers, ahead of 1.5 million for ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and NBC's "The Tonight Show" hosted by Jimmy Fallon with 1.1 million.

Taika Waititi to take on new Judge Dredd movie

Oscar-winner Taika Waititi is set to take on a new Judge Dredd movie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the writer-director will take the reins of the latest attempt to bring the comic book character to the screen with Drew Pearce set to take on the script. Pearce's credits include Iron Man 3, Hobbs & Shaw and The Fall Guy. He has also written the script for a new take on The Thomas Crown Affair led by Michael B Jordan. Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that both Waititi and Pearce were childhood fans of the character. In a 2022 interview, Waititi name-checked Judge Dredd as an influence on his Marvel films. Judge Dredd is a law enforcement officer working in a dystopian society who first appeared in the British publication 2000 AD in the late 70s. In 1995, Sylvester Stallone played him in a film that underperformed at the box office and received negative reviews. The character was brought back in 2012 and played by Karl Urban in the Alex Garland-scripted Dredd which received stronger notices, but was also a commercial disappointment. The new version is reportedly more faithful to the original comics and will lean into dark humour. The aim is to kick off a new universe that could expand to both the big and small screen. New Zealand-born Waititi won the Oscar for best original screenplay for his second world war comedy Jojo Rabbit and has also directed two Thor sequels. His last film, the fact-based football comedy Next Goal Wins, was a critical and financial failure. His next is an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun starring Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega. Last year saw reports that he was looking to team up with Steven Spielberg for an adaptation of Percival Everett's Pulitzer prize-winning novel James.
