JioStar, the joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Walt Disney, reported a net profit of ₹581 crore for the quarter ended June, according to RIL's quarterly financial disclosure.The company recorded an EBITDA of ₹1,017 crore and operating revenue of ₹9,601 crore, driven by the strong performance of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This comes despite ongoing challenges in the entertainment segment due to reduced FMCG advertising spends.RIL said the IPL delivered its highest-ever revenue across TV and digital this year. JioStar holds both TV and digital rights for the IPL in the Indian market.While the TV entertainment segment continued to face pressure, the impact was offset by strong sports and subscription revenues. The company finalised subscription deals with all major distribution operators, aiding better monetisation and tighter cost controls.For the FY25 period spanning November 14, 2024, to March 31, 2025, JioStar reported a net profit of ₹229 crore on operating revenue of ₹9,497 crore, with an EBITDA of ₹774 crore.On November 14, 2024, RIL and Disney completed the merger of Star India and Viacom18, forming JioStar. RIL controls the JV with a 56% stake, Disney holds 37%, and the remaining 7% is owned by Bodhi Tree Systems.During the latest quarter, JioStar's streaming platform, JioHotstar, saw its subscriber base surge to 287 million during the IPL season, fuelled by its hybrid advertising and subscription model with limited free access. On television, JioStar reached more than 800 million viewers during the quarter.The company also expanded its footprint in the Free-To-Air (FTA) Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) segment with the relaunch of Star Utsav and Colors Rishtey on DD Free Dish. It had a 35.5% share in the entertainment TV category.IPL 2025 marked a watershed moment for JioStar, achieving a combined reach of 1.19 billion viewers across TV—primarily Star Sports—and JioHotstar. The platform drew 652 million digital viewers, a 28% year-on-year increase, making it JioHotstar's most successful IPL season to date.On television, the tournament delivered a 5.1 TVR and clocked over 514 billion minutes of watch time. The IPL 2025 final set a new digital benchmark, becoming the most-watched T20 match ever online with 237 million viewers and a peak concurrency of 55.2 million, surpassing the previous high of 35.9 million. The final also drew 189 million viewers on TV, making it the most-watched IPL match in broadcast history.Beyond the IPL, JioStar's sports portfolio featured marquee events such as the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The network also secured exclusive digital streaming rights for India's five-Test series against England from Sony Pictures Networks India, further strengthening its sports lineup.JioHotstar recorded its highest-ever monthly entertainment watch time in June 2025. The latest season of Criminal Justice delivered the strongest opening for any OTT original this year, according to Ormax Media, while Kesari 2 emerged as the most-watched film across all languages on the platform.International content continued to gain traction. Captain America: Brave New World debuted as the second most-watched film of the quarter, while Mufasa: The Lion King became the most-watched international film ever on JioHotstar.Star Plus retained its leadership in the Hindi GEC segment, with six of the top ten shows during the quarter.Regional general entertainment channels also performed strongly. Star Pravah, Star Jalsha, Star Maa, and Asianet continued to lead in their respective markets. The network also maintained its dominance in niche genres such as kids, youth, and English entertainment.

While US President Donald Trump has criticised India's economy as 'dead' and hinted at higher tariffs, his family-run business continues to expand its real estate footprint across Indian cities, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), a TOI report stated. The Trump Organisation has partnered with Indian developers for premium real estate projects, including the Trump Towers Delhi NCR in Sector 65, Gurgaon. Developed in collaboration with Tribeca and M3M, the project has recorded bookings of over ₹2,000 crore since its launch in 2018, sources said. The project features 250 luxury apartments priced between ₹5 crore and ₹9 crore. On the day of its launch, the project sold 20 apartments worth ₹150 crore. The development was marked by a high-profile event attended by Donald Trump Jr. Possession of the apartments is expected in the coming this success, the Trump Organization announced a second venture in Gurgaon this May – Trump Residences in Sector 69. The project, a joint effort by Tribeca and M3M subsidiary Smartworld, comprises two 51-storey towers with 298 for these apartments range from ₹8 crore to ₹15 crore, while premium penthouses are priced as high as ₹125 crore. The companies involved have claimed the project is completely sold out, with total revenue of ₹3,250 crore. This development will make Gurgaon the only city apart from New York to host two Trump-branded residential towers. Plans are underway for a third project – Trump Towers at Sector 94 in on the second Gurgaon launch, Eric Trump, executive vice president of The Trump Organisation, said, 'We're incredibly excited to launch our second project in Gurgaon, and even prouder to be doing it once again with our amazing partners at Tribeca, M3M & Smartworld. Under this joint venture model, Indian firms manage construction and operations, while the Trump Organization contributes branding and global visibility. A buyer of a Trump Residences home told TOI, 'This cost a steep ₹30,000 per square foot. But when you look at the trajectory of the first Trump Tower in Gurgaon, which launched at ₹16,000 per sq ft and is now reselling at ₹30,000 per sq ft, it becomes clear that this brand carries serious equity. It's a statement of both lifestyle and foresight.' Apart from the NCR, The Trump Organisation has residential and commercial projects in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Earlier this year, it launched its first commercial venture in Pune. India is currently the largest overseas market for the Trump real estate brand.

Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries, accounted for more than 40% of the Hindi film industry's total India Net Box Office Collection (NBOC) in FY25, with its theatrical earnings crossing ₹1,000 crore, Reliance Industries said in its FY25 annual report. The studio released three of the year's five highest-grossing Hindi films namely Stree 2, Singham Again, and Sky Force. Stree 2 was described by the company as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. Overall, Jio Studios had a busy content pipeline in FY25, with a slate of over 40 films and web originals spanning multiple languages and platforms. Its titles also saw strong traction on digital platforms. Laapataa Ladies was among the top three most-watched Hindi films on Netflix and stayed in the platform's global rankings for several weeks. On ZEE5, Mrs. logged over 500 million viewing minutes within three weeks of launch and was the most searched film on Google in India, according to the company. Music from its films also performed well, with Stree 2's track Aaj Ki Raat crossing two billion views and streams across YouTube and Spotify. The studio won more than 65 awards during the year, including 15 wins at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards and honours from the Dadasaheb Phalke Film films were screened at major international festivals such as Toronto, Busan, Palm Springs, Red Sea, and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Laapataa Ladies was also chosen as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the Studios continued expanding its presence in regional cinema, particularly in Marathi, with upcoming titles including Raja Shivaji and a biopic on Olympic medal-winning wrestler Khashaba ahead, the studio plans to keep investing in content across formats and languages, with a focus on technology-driven storytelling and broadening its audience reach.
