The initiative, overseen by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), aims to make travel more affordable for daily and long-distance commuters. Rs 3,000 For 200 Toll-Free Trips Priced at Rs 3,000, the pass will cover 200 toll-free trips a year, each trip equating to one toll booth crossing. With many commuters typically spending over Rs 10,000 annually on tolls, this pass could result in savings of up to Rs 7,000, bringing average cost per trip to just Rs 15. How To Buy Annual Toll Pass? The most common query from drivers has been how and where to get the pass. According to NHAI, it will be available only via the official 'RajmargYatra' mobile app and website. It will not be sold at toll plazas, through offline stores, third-party websites, or banks. The pass will be activated within two hours of application. There's no need for a separate card or tag, as the toll pass will be linked directly to your existing Fastag. NHAI advises users to avoid unofficial sources to prevent fraud. For further assistance, users can contact the NHAI helpline at 1033. NHAI is actively providing updates and guidance via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Guwahati bypass to get 5 foot overbridges by July next year
1 2 Guwahati: Prioritising pedestrian convenience, five new foot overbridges with escalators will soon be constructed at key junctions along the Guwahati Bypass of NH-27, ensuring safer crossings. The initiative by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) follows the 2023 expansion of the bypass, which led to increased difficulty for pedestrians. Project implementation unit director Biswa Jyoti Lahkar said construction will begin soon at a cost of Rs 30 crore, with a target completion date of July next year. He said these foot overbridges at five critical intersections — on the now six-lane NH-27 Guwahati Bypass — will allow pedestrians to cross safely and efficiently. NHAI also plans to upgrade the service lanes of the bypass and install streetlights along the 18-km stretch from Khanapara to Jalukbari. Dedicated bus bays are in the works to streamline public transport operations and reduce unsafe stoppages. Lahkar added that with enhanced service roads, improved drainage, street lighting, and clear signage, the bypass — vital for both local and interstate traffic — will meet modern highway safety standards. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo NHAI has already constructed four major flyovers at Basistha, Lokhra, Garchuk, and Boragaon, along with two vehicular underpasses at Beharbari and Jayanagar. These upgrades have helped decongest key intersections and improve traffic flow. The project director expects that the construction of the foot overbridges, along with the already constructed flyovers, ahead of the construction of the ambitious 121-km-long over Rs 5,000 crore Guwahati ring road, will enhance smooth road travel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the ring road project on Sept 8, during his visit to the state for the birth centenary celebrations of music legend Bhupen Hazarika. The ring road initiative includes building a major bypass, widening critical sections of NH-27, and constructing a significant bridge over the Brahmaputra river connecting Narengi in Guwahati to Kuruwa in Darrang district. The projected is expected to be completed by Dec 2027.

New rly under bridge to ease traffic at Darrah Nullah
Jaipur: Relief is finally in sight for commuters who endured years of traffic congestion at Darrah Nullah on the Kota–Jhalawar National Highway (NH-52). The Central govt granted administrative and financial approval for the construction of a new Railway Under Bridge (RUB) near Arch Bridge No. 148, between Kanwarpura and Darrah railway stations. The project, estimated to cost Rs 9.98 crore, will be executed by the West Central Railway as a deposit work. The RUB will be constructed at KM 297.7 on NH-52 and is expected to significantly ease traffic flow between Kota and Jhalawar. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly, with targeted completion within stipulated timeframe. The eight-km stretch through Darrah Nullah — a narrow, single-lane passage wedged between the broader four-lane highway — long posed a serious threat to commuters, with frequent accidents, prolonged traffic jams, and seasonal waterlogging. Rajesh Soni, a frequent traveller, said, "Traffic on this route increased as it connects Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Heavy vehicle movement is common, and traffic jams lasting up to 12 hours have been reported here." Despite the commencement of toll collection at Mandana and Bheed Mandi (Rs 165 and Rs 85, respectively), no structural improvements were made. Agencies including the NHAI, PWD, and the forest department continued shifting responsibility. Since the stretch falls within the Mukundra Tiger Reserve, the forest department raised objections to any major construction without proper clearance. A four-lane elevated road was earlier proposed but failed to gain approval .
