General Hospital Casting Surprise: Kelly Thiebaud Returns—Will Britt Rise Again?

General Hospital Casting Surprise: Kelly Thiebaud Returns—Will Britt Rise Again?

Yahoo5 hours ago

General Hospital fans are in for a treat this summer, as Daytime Emmy winner Kelly Thiebaud is set to return to the soap! Will she be Britt Westbourne, though?
Deadline broke the news that Thiebaud will be back on-screen in July, but there's a twist—will she return as her beloved character, Britt Westbourne, or will she take on a brand-new role? While the specifics remain under wraps, Thiebaud shared her excitement about being 'home' again, sparking curiosity and anticipation among fans who have followed her journey on GH for over a decade.
Thiebaud's connection to the soap has been nothing short of remarkable since she first appeared on the show in 2012. She quickly became a fan favorite for her portrayal of the feisty, troubled, and, at times, heartbroken Britt Westbourne.
Britt's storylines over the years have been packed with drama, from her complicated relationship with Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) to the shocking revelation that she was the daughter of Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and infamous baddie Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
MORE: Thiebaud's hilarious revelation.
Britt's many schemes, including stealing an embryo and her brief romance with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), kept fans on the edge of their seats. But it was Britt's tragic death in January 2023 that left a gaping hole in the GH canvas. After her heartbreaking final scenes, where Britt succumbed to injuries inflicted by 'The Hook,' Heather Webber (Alley Mills), fans assumed they had seen the last of Thiebaud's iconic character.
However, soap operas are known for their unexpected twists, and Thiebaud's return has many wondering if Britt is truly gone for good. With her return, there's no telling what direction her character will take. Could Britt have somehow survived The Hook? Will Thiebaud take on a fresh role entirely, potentially revamping the GH landscape with a new character?
Executive producer Frank Valentini expressed his enthusiasm for Thiebaud's return, teasing that the show has 'great twists and turns planned' for her. If GH's history is any indication, a return from the dead isn't out of the question.
As fans eagerly await her return, the speculation continues: Will Britt Westbourne rise from the ashes, or will Kelly Thiebaud step into a new persona in Port Charles? Either way, GH is set to deliver a thrilling new chapter, and we can't wait to see where Thiebaud's return will take us next.
Are you excited to see Thiebaud back on GH? Do you hope it's as Britt, or are you hoping for a brand-new character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Former Young & Restless Star Daniel Goddard Says His Time on the Show ‘Amounted to Nothing'

Daniel Goddard is well-known among The Young and the Restless fans for his roles as Cane Ashby and Caleb Atkinson. Recently, the actor made a shocking revelation years after leaving the show, stating that his time there brought him nothing. Here is everything you need to know about Goddard's latest statement regarding the popular soap opera. Daniel Goddard, a former star of The Young and the Restless, recently began portraying Professor Henry Dalton on General Hospital. In a recent interview with Woman's World, Goddard discussed his new role and reflected on his time on The Young and the Restless. He mentioned that he had stepped away from acting but was invited to audition for the role of Jack Brennan on General Hospital. However, at the time, he was focused on his business ventures. The 53-year-old also shared that it was difficult for him to get back to auditioning after stepping away from acting. He said, 'I had a lot of hesitation because I had a lot of fear. Fear of not being good, of failing, of letting down a fanbase.' Goddard added how 'those 12 years or so on Y&R amounted to nothing, because I was back to auditioning.' However, Goddard managed to overpower his fear and had a great time auditioning. He shared, 'When I left, I thought, 'Geez, I missed that!' Because I hadn't auditioned in four years. I had no intention of going back to acting, but it was a moment of awakening for me.' Daniel Goddard discussed the differences between working on both shows. He explained that in The Young and the Restless, actors receive the entire script, which allows them to see what other characters are saying about them. 'I was also always going into the writers' room to read scripts four weeks ahead, so I'd know where the character was going,' he said. On the other hand, in General Hospital, he only receives the pages that include his own character. Lili Reinhart's queer indie series, 'Hal & Harper,' is hitting MUBI this fall

Sapphics, are you paying attention? You are going to want to know this: A new independent streaming series starring Lili Reinhart and Cooper Raiff is headed our way! On Monday, Deadline broke the news that streaming service MUBI acquired the rights to Hal & Harper, an eight-episode show centered around the titular codependent siblings, played by Reinhart and Raiff. Raiff also created, wrote, and directed the show. The series premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, earning rave reviews from viewers who appreciated both the heart and the comedy at the core of the show. Notably, both Reinhart and Raiff also play the much younger versions of themselves in childhood flashbacks, adding a Pen15-like quality to those sequences. If that wasn't enough to have us looking forward to Hal & Harper, it's also got a stacked cast that includes some queer faves. Mark Ruffalo plays their father, Betty Gilpin plays his girlfriend, and Bottoms' Havana Rose Liu plays the girl Hal is interested in. Oh, and did we mention Harper has a girlfriend? The Sex Lives of College Girls star Alyah Chanelle Scott tackles that role, while Addison Timlin plays the coworker Harper is crushing on. MUBI has had a hand in distributing several well-received queer films in recent years, including Shiva Baby, Knife + Heart, and Benedetta. Hal & Harper is one of a few series they have coming up, with the acquisition being praised by those hoping independent TV is a viable way forward. "MUBI is the perfect home for our very specific family show. They're a singular platform that understands the art they're putting out," Raiff told Deadline. "I am in awe of what they've done recently, and am excited to be a part of the family." And if you're still on the fence about the whole thing, we'll just leave this here: — (@) Hal & Harper will premiere on MUBI sometime this fall.

WWE's First Crossover With AAA Locks Down 4.1M Viewers In 24 Hours As Company's First Full In-Ring YouTube Broadcast

The WWE set a new audience record with its first AAA crossover event since acquiring the leading Mexican lucha libre promotion in April. Worlds Collide drew the largest live audience on a YouTube broadcast in WWE history, per the company. Advertisement More from Deadline The average live viewership wasn't disclosed, though the company did say that the June 7 event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles peaked at 764,389 live concurrent viewers across the WWE and WWE Espańol YouTube channels during the main event between El Hijo del Vikingo and Chad Gable. Additionally, Saturday's broadcast has raked in more than 4.1M viewers on YouTube in the first 24 hours. Worlds Collide marked the first full in-ring show that the WWE has streamed live on YouTube. The company's main channel boasts more than 109M subscribers, making it one of the most powerful on the platform. Advertisement This is a strong start for the collaboration between the WWE and AAA. It also illustrates the power of YouTube. YouTube consistently ranks as the top streamer in the U.S., far outpacing its competitors, including Netflix, in terms of monthly average usage time. It is also on pace to surpass even Disney's revenue by the end of the year to become the top global player in media, per one veteran Wall Street Analyst. The positive performance here potentially opens the door for more YouTube broadcasting opportunities within the WWE as it continues to expand its brand and leverage a vast array of properties from its main events to weekly offerings.
