All Pakistani Songs Removed From Spotify After Government Advisory
New Delhi:
Pakistani songs were removed from Spotify on Wednesday night following a government advisory. Popular tracks such as Maand, Jhol, Faasle and others have disappeared from the platform.
The move comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor and the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
On May 8, the Government of India issued an advisory directing all OTT platforms, media streaming services and digital intermediaries to discontinue web series, films, songs, podcasts and other media content originating from Pakistan.
The advisory was issued under Part II of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. It reminds publishers and intermediaries of their obligation to "ensure that content hosted or streamed does not threaten India's sovereignty, integrity, national security, or public order."
The Ministry noted that several terrorist attacks in India have had cross-border links with state and non-state actors in Pakistan. Citing the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which led to the deaths of several Indian citizens and one Nepali national, the government stated that the advisory is being issued in the interest of national security.
The Code of Ethics under the IT Rules states that "publishers must exercise due caution and discretion while publishing any content that could affect India's sovereignty, security, public order, or friendly relations with foreign countries."
"OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription-based model or otherwise, having their origins in Pakistan with immediate effect," the advisory read.
In line with this, changes were also noticed across various music platforms. Pakistani actors have been removed from the posters of their Hindi films.
On Monday, Mawra Hocane's image was missing from the Sanam Teri Kasam album covers on Spotify and YouTube Music, with only Harshvardhan Rane appearing in the artwork.
A similar edit was made to the album cover of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, where Mahira Khan's image was removed. The updated poster now shows Shah Rukh Khan alone.
The song Buddhu Sa Mann from Kapoor & Sons, which featured Fawad Khan along with Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt, is currently unavailable on YouTube in India. The message displayed says, "Video unavailable. The uploader has not made this video available in your country." The song was posted by Sony Music India, and its poster on music apps has also been altered to remove Fawad Khan.
Responding to the changes, Sanam Teri Kasam producer Deepak Mukut told Hindustan Times, "They didn't ask me, it's their decision. Whatever our government says, everyone has to follow."

India has not responded to these claims ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan's army said on June 4 that its security forces raided a militant hideout and killed 14 insurgents during a gunfight in the northwest part of the country. The raid happened overnight in North Waziristan, a district in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The military said the operation targeted Pakistani Taliban fighters linked to an Indian proxy group. India has not responded to these claims. Pakistan's army also said that further cleanup operations are ongoing to remove Pakistani Taliban groups, which it claims are supported by India. Pakistani officials often accuse India of backing banned groups like the Baloch Liberation Army and the Pakistani Taliban, who are responsible for violent attacks inside Pakistan. These accusations have increased since May, as tensions between Pakistan and India have grown. The two nuclear-armed countries have seen rising conflict, especially over the disputed Kashmir region. Kashmir is split between the two countries, but both want complete control over it. The Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP, has become stronger since the Afghan Taliban took power in Afghanistan in 2021. Many TTP fighters and leaders have reportedly taken shelter in Afghanistan.

"Germans showed greatest sympathy, agreed military response was needed": MJ Akbar on Operation Sindoor
Berlin [Germany], June 7 (ANI): Former Former Union Minister MJ Akbar, who is part of the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, said on Friday that Germany has shown strong sympathy and understanding for the pain India suffered in the recent Pahalgam terror attack, and agreed that a military response was necessary. Akbar is currently in Berlin as part of India's diplomatic outreach to explain the country's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The delegation met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and several members of the German Parliament (Bundestag) during their visit. Speaking to ANI, Akbar said, 'The Germans so far have shown the greatest amount of sympathy, but equally important, the understanding of the tragedy and the anguish the Indian people have faced. ' He added that during his meeting with the German Foreign Minister, he recalled a quote from Otto von Bismarck, the first Chancellor of Germany, to explain India's military response to the terror attack. 'In the meeting with the German Foreign Affairs Minister, I said I am reminded of a quote of Bismarck -- 'A conquering army at the border will not be stopped by eloquence'. The Germans understood immediately and agreed that an important military response was needed. With the parliamentary delegation before that, I asked them, 'What would you have done?' and they nodded, that yes, we would have responded,' Akbar said. He further said that the current crisis caused by terrorism is also a chance for India and Germany to build a stronger strategic partnership. 'In my view, a crisis can also be an opportunity. This is an opportunity for India and Germany to strengthen their strategic relationship, because it can only be built on a shared understanding of the nature of the enemy,' he added. Earlier on Friday, the delegation held a series of meetings with Bundestag members and representatives from major German think tanks. The discussions focused on counterterrorism, regional stability, and global cooperation. One of the notable voices in the dialogue was Jurgen Hardt, a member of the German Parliament and the spokesperson for foreign policy of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. He acknowledged regional threats from Pakistan and stressed the importance of peaceful conflict resolution. 'We see the terror threat coming from Pakistan, and we have asked the Pakistani government to eliminate terror groups in their country. We hope for a peaceful solution. We encourage the Indian government to do it diplomatically. Hopefully, the conflict between India and Pakistan can be calmed,' Hardt said. He condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed hope that India would also find peaceful ways to handle such situations, while understanding the reasoning behind Operation Sindoor. With high-level participation across parties and institutions, the visit reinforced the shared values and mutual trust that underpin the India-Germany relationship. From counterterrorism and nuclear restraint to economic engagement and geopolitical dialogue, both sides signalled a clear commitment to a rules-based global order and a collaborative future. (ANI)
