Eric 'Butterbean' Esch has been out of the ring since his 2013 loss to Kirk Lawton, but he is eyeing a return to action as he looks to settle the score with YouTube sensation Jake Paul

Butterbean has issued a fierce warning to Jake Paul as he considers making his comeback to the boxing ring.
The 58-year-old American hasn't fought since suffering a TKO defeat to Kirk Lawton in 2013. And in the years since, the fighter, whose real name is Eric Esch, has faced an entirely different challenge: battling his weight and morbid obesity.

Butterbean's weight ballooned to a staggering 500lb – equivalent to 36.7 stone – at his peak, leaving him wheelchair-bound as medical professionals warned he might never regain the ability to walk. Throughout this period, Butterbean alleges that Paul "talked bad" about him, only to alter his stance now that the veteran has regained his fitness through an extraordinary physical transformation, shedding over 200lbs (15 stone).

Speaking to Mirror Fighting this week through Lucky Energy, Butterbean said: "As soon as he says yes, I'm ready. You know, I was in really bad shape. I was in a wheelchair for over three years. I couldn't walk. I got over 500 pounds. I was fat and sloppy and couldn't walk, and Jake wanted to talk bad about me then.
"So, I decided to get my fat butt in shape. And guess what I did? I'm 280 right now, 285. I've never been under 300 in my life that I know of. And now that I'm ready, he's like, 'Well, dude, you're a legend. I can't fight you right now.' Yeah, buddy. Let's get it going."
When asked about his confidence in potentially ending Paul's boxing career, he added: "I don't think he's afraid of me, but I think his people know that if he gets knocked out, his career's over. Like, I would knock him out bad. I hit way too hard for him."

Butterbean even described a potential bout with Paul as "one of the best fights of the year", as he claimed: "I hit too hard for Jake. Needless to say, Jake was a joke in the beginning. Just another YouTuber out there trying to prove a point.

"He's got a lot better... so I wouldn't mind sharing the ring just to fight him. Not just to shut him out because I think he was worthless, but he kind of p***ed me off."

Butterbean attributes his significant weight loss to WWE legend 'Diamond' Dallas Page and his intensive yoga regimen, noting that at 58, he feels fitter than during his boxing heyday in his twenties. He said: "I'm not in a wheelchair no more.
"I went and moved to DDP for a while, did his yoga programme, and I'm in the best shape of my life right now. I feel better now at 50-something than I did when I was in my 20s, which is insane. I can't explain it, but the Fountain of Youth, I dove in it and I come out so much better."
Paul, on the other hand, has seen a meteoric rise since launching his professional boxing career with a first-round TKO against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020. Subsequent victories included knockouts of Nate Robinson and wins over seasoned UFC stars Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva.

However, he experienced his first career defeat in February 2023, losing to Tommy Fury via split decision. Despite this setback, Paul bounced back with wins over notable opponents such as Nate Diaz, Andre Augustm, Ryan Bourland and Mike Perry.
Last November, Paul faced what was touted as the most significant fight of his career, squaring off against former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson, despite a 30-year age gap. Paul emerged victorious from that bout, winning by unanimous decision.

He followed this up with another win last month against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, also by unanimous decision, improving his record to 12-1. As for his next opponent, it remains uncertain, although Butterbean is hopeful of enticing Paul into a lucrative match, despite ongoing rumours of a rematch with Fury.
Butterbean has just launched a brand-new flavour of beverage with Lucky Energy in his Butterbean's Knockout Punch. The brand describes the fresh taste as "a tropical mix of pineapple, orange, cherry, with a heavy kick of nostalgia fruit punch."
Butterbean spoke as part of his collaboration with Lucky Energy. You can find out more about his brand-new Butterbean's Knockout Punch flavour here.

Crystal Palace ultras to hold furious protest march against Uefa after Eagles booted out of Europa League

The Eagles are appealing against Uefa's decision to demote Oliver Glasner's side to the Conference League next season for breaching multi-club ownership rules. The rules of European football's governing body state clubs owned, to a certain threshold of influence, by the same person or entity cannot compete in the same European competition. Uefa's rules set a deadline of March 1 2025 to show proof of multi-club ownership restructuring - a deadline which Palace missed. The ultras are demanding answers and hinted at unfair treatment from Uefa, who they claim are often influenced by other clubs with more "prestige and money". A statement from the Holmesdale Fanatics read: "Uefa's decision to demote Crystal Palace to the Conference League is a terrible injustice for both our club and the game of football as a whole. "We call this protest not just for Palace's position in the Europa League to be reinstated, but with all football fans in mind. But Lyon face the prospect of Uefa sanctions for over spending rules. May 25: Forest fail to qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the Premier League season but reach the Conference League instead, so Marinakis takes back control of the club. June 3: Uefa meet with Palace executives in Switzerland to discuss whether the Eagles are able to play in Europe next season. John Textor and Steve Parish attend the meeting to fight Palace's case. June 9: It is revealed Forest have written to Uefa warning that Palace could be in breach of Uefa's multi-club ownership rules. June 25: It is announced that Lyon have been relegated from Ligue 1 after failing to convince authorities they have resolved their financial difficulties. July 9: Lyon's appeal is upheld, meaning they are reinstated to Ligue 1 and their spot in the Europa League is confirmed. July 11: Palace's demotion to the Conference League is announced by Uefa, with the Eagles saying they will appeal the decision. As FA Cup winners, Palace won a spot in the Europa League for the 2025/26 campaign after beating Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley eight weeks ago. But that was brought into question with Lyon finishing sixth in Ligue 1 and earning their own Europa League spot. Palace stand to lose £3.9m up front in prize money and can win a maximum £18.4m from the Conference League, compared to a minimum £9.1m and potential £33.5m from a successful Europa League campaign. Textor - who Palace argue did not have overall control of the club - sold his 43 per cent stake to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson - albeit after the March 1 deadline. He then resigned from his leadership roles at Lyon when they were relegated to Ligue 2 after failing to convince authorities they have resolved their financial difficulties. This appeared to pave the way for Palace's Europa League participation. But, there was further uncertainty on Wednesday when Lyon won their appeal against their relegation and were reinstated to Ligue 1 - meaning they are able to take up their Europa League spot. 5 Textor also owns French club Lyon, who qualified for the Europa League by finishing sixth in Ligue 1 Credit: Getty 5 Palace chairman Steve Parish slammed 'ludicrous' Uefa for permitting 'the biggest injustice in the history of football' Palace argued Textor does not hold any decisive influence at the club, but the Premier League side's defence was not accepted. Club chief Steve Parish slammed 'ludicrous' Uefa for permitting 'the biggest injustice in the history of football'. Parish said on Friday that Johnson had passed the Premier League's owners' and directors' test and that everyone at Palace feel they have been made an example of by Uefa. Uefa rejects any claim that Palace have been harshly treated. It regards the case as a clear breach of the regulations, saying on Friday it had reached that conclusion after an 'assessment of the documentation submitted' by Lyon and Palace. Forest's place has not yet been confirmed, with Uefa's Club Financial Control Body waiting until the outcome of the Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal.

Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins star 'forced to quit' before filming even starts

More info Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Channel 4's gruelling reality show, is notorious for causing injuries that force stars to withdraw from the competition. However, a new record may have been set by a participant who was reportedly compelled to leave before filming even began. Soap legend Patsy Kensit was slated to participate in the forthcoming series of the show. Yet, it seems her pre-show training left her too injured to compete. Patsy, 57 - renowned for her roles as Sadie King in Emmerdale and Emma Harding in EastEnders - had been taking her commitment to the show seriously, hitting the gym hard to prepare for the challenges she would face on the programme, it's been reported. Who Dares Wins subjects its contestants to physical and mental tests akin to those experienced by the armed forces, testing their grit and resolve. (Image: Getty Images) However, it has now emerged that Patsy was sent home when she arrived for the new series' filming, having sustained an injury before the cameras started rolling. An insider revealed that the show's producers instructed the actress to return home to prevent any further harm. A source confided to The Sun on Sunday: "Patsy had been running at pace on a treadmill while wearing a weighted backpack filled with books and weights as part of her intense training regime. "The added weight caused her to lose balance and fall backwards off the machine, bruising her arm and shoulder in the process," reports the Mirror. (Image: ITV) They continued, revealing: "She even flew out to Morocco, where the filming was taking place, but production soon spotted the injury and she was sent home." A spokesperson for Patsy told The Mirror: "The production company Minow who make Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins, were amazing the way they looked after Patsy. Their duty of care was second to none and very impressive. Patsy is on the mend and will of course make a full recovery." At a gala performance of the Faulty Towers theatre show earlier this month in London's West End, Patsy was seen sporting an arm sling. Upon being queried about her injury at that time, the celebrity disclosed: "I broke my shoulder in 3 places 3 weeks ago!!! I'm healing and a slight boogie with my besties I'm staying with this week will be a tonic for sure." (Image:) Despite her setback, the star has been making the most of social opportunities, yet there's one event she's definitively given a pass – attending the Oasis reunion tour dates. Patsy, who was married to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher from 1997 to 2000, recently shared her thoughts on the band's reunion tour. The pair share a son, Lennon Gallagher, who is now 25 years old. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Patsy expressed her delight that her son would have the opportunity to see his father perform with the legendary band, which famously disbanded in 2009. (Image: Getty Images) She told the ITV programme: "My 24-year-old son, he'll be there and he'll have a lovely time. Great for him to see all of that and I'm happy for his dad, I think it's a wonderful thing. But I won't be attending." The brothers will continue touring until late November, with a total of 41 dates scheduled over the coming months. The tour is set to culminate on 23 November in Brazil. Princess Charlotte and Prince George respond differently to Wimbledon champions

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Arriving at Wimbledon this afternoon, Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen introducing their eldest children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, to the men's doubles champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. Lip reading expert Jeremy Freeman analysed the heartwarming interaction, revealing that Kate, 43, enquired about how long the British winners had been playing as a team. Addressing Charlotte, 10, and George, nine, she remarked: "Wow, how about that? So, they only just started playing together ten months ago. And go on to win Wimbledon." Charlotte, brimming with excitement, exclaimed: "Oh, wow." George, as interpreted by Jeremy, commented: "Mmm nice, yeah." Kate then observed: "Not bad is it." (Image: WireImage) Charlotte's keen interest in tennis doesn't come as a surprise; Royal commentator Ingrid Seward previously told The Sun: "Charlotte has always loved tennis, and mum Kate took her to Hurlingham when she was quite young to play tennis there. Tennis is a big family thing on both sides." The royals attended Wimbledon to watch defending champion Carlos Alcaraz as he takes on world number one Jannik Sinner. Kate, who presented the women's singles trophy yesterday afternoon, will once again take centre stage to award the winner on Centre Court. The Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, was greeted with a standing ovation yesterday as she made her appearance in the Royal box at Centre Court. Jeremy reported that Kate, acknowledging the crowd, said: "Thanks. Hi." She then turned to someone off-camera and remarked: "Sweet, very nice to hear!" (Image: Karwai Tang, WireImagevia Getty Images) Attending solo without her husband and children, she witnessed Poland's Iga Swiatek triumph over American Amanda Anisimova with a commanding 6–0, 6-0 victory in the decidedly one-sided final. After the match, Kate displayed her grace by telling the runner-up Anisimova: "You should be so proud, well done, and enjoy yourself." Backstage, she had words of advice for the champion Swiatek, saying: "Ensure you have some downtime." Kate further complimented Swiatek: "Wonderful, extraordinary achievement, very well done. Congratulations and enjoy it. Enjoy the celebrations back home."
