‘Bows clinch series win over UC Davis with 16-0 rout
On the heels of a Saturday night series-opening win, the University of Hawai'i baseball team made it four straight victories with a dominant 16-0 rout of UC Davis in a Sunday matinee at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Rainbow Warriors (16-4) secured their second consecutive series win and continued to roll behind the return of senior shortstop Jordan Donahue, who shined in his second game back just four weeks after surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone in his right hand.
Donahue went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and made an immediate impact defensively, helping UH escape a bases-loaded jam in the first inning with a smooth 6-4-3 double play.
'Being out with an injury is tough,' Donahue said. 'But it was all about being a good teammate and getting healthy. Now that I'm back, I'm just trying to slow the game down and enjoy every pitch. There's nothing like playing at Les Murakami Stadium.'
The offense exploded behind Donahue, with Draven Nushida and Jared Quandt each notching two hits and an RBI. Maryknoll graduate Matt Miura stayed red-hot, going 2-for-2 to improve to a perfect 6-for-6 in the series.
'Watching the team while I was hurt, we were balling out,' Donahue added. 'We just have to keep the confidence and good vibes going in the locker room.'
Hawai'i's pitching staff held UC Davis scoreless for the full nine innings, continuing a stretch of dominance on both sides of the ball. Liam O'Brien worked the first 3.1 innings allowing just two hits with two strikeouts. Sebastian Gonzalez earned the win in relief, going 4.2 innings with three strikeouts.
The Rainbow Warriors will go for the series sweep Monday night at 6:35 p.m.
The finale will be televised live on Spectrum Sports.

Incredible Mets misplay allows Dodgers to tie game in 4-run comeback
Blowing a four-run lead to the Los Angeles Dodgers was a bad enough time for the New York Mets on Thursday. The game-tying play made it even worse. With the Mets up 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning, reliever Reed Garrett seemingly got a big out when Andy Pages hit an easy grounder right at third baseman Brett Baty. Dodgers catcher Will Smith had no choice but to make a break for home from third base, where he should have been tagged out. The Mets turned an easy out at home plate into a "Three Stooges" skit. (Jason Parkhurst-Imagn Images) (IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect / Reuters) However, Baty spiked the throw to home and catcher Francisco Alvarez couldn't get a hold of it. As the ball bounced into the air and came down, Alvarez and Garrett collided into each other in a play worthy of a "Three Stooges" episode. Advertisement Had Alvarez not essentially set a basketball-style pick against Garrett after losing the ball, Smith still probably would have been out. Instead, he tied the game. It was the kind of play that harkened back to the days when the Mets inspired more mockery than fear as a large-market team. They're doing everything they can to shed that reputation under owner Steve Cohen, but plays like that can happen to any baseball team. The inning got worse three batters later when former Mets All-Star Michael Conforto punched an RBI single into the outfield for the go-ahead run. That single was Conforto's first hit with a runner in scoring position since March 31, the Dodgers' fifth game of the season. It was his first with two outs of the entire 2025 season, which hasn't quite gone according to plan after he signed a one-year, $17 million deal to join the reigning World Series champs. He entered Thursday slashing .167/.311/.270. Advertisement With the Dodgers suddenly leading, they brought in Tanner Scott, another new acquisition who has been struggling, for the ninth inning. He struck out two and allowed a single before ending the game on a Luisangel Acuña flyout. The Dodgers' win split the four-game series with the Mets and kept them in first place in the NL West at 38-25. In arguably the hardest stretch of their season — with series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, New York Yankees and Mets — they went 9-7 despite a heavily depleted pitching staff.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford makes insane hurdle at first base vs. Rays
The post Rangers' Wyatt Langford makes insane hurdle at first base vs. Rays appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Texas Rangers have struggled offensively this season and the team has lost 10 of the last 15 games, falling to 29-32. Yet while Rangers fans haven't had much to cheer about, second-year pro Wyatt Langford reminded everyone of his immense talent with a wild move at first base Wednesday. Advertisement Langford broke out a full speed hurdle to avoid first baseman Jonathan Aranda's tag and reach base safely for an infield single, per B/R Walk-off on X. Wyatt Langford flashes massive potential with Rangers Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images Langford was facing Tampa Bay Rays starter Shane Baz in the top of the first inning when he pulled an 85 mph breaking ball to shortstop. However, the throw was offline, taking Aranda off the bag and forcing him to reach back in an effort to tag Langford and record the out. Seeing this, the former first-round draft pick hurdled the first baseman in an incredible display of athleticism. After a fairly strong rookie campaign in 2024, Langford is starting to round into form in his second season. An oblique strain during spring training threatened to hamper the 23-year-old outfielder. But he recovered quickly and is slashing .236/.315/.446 with 11 home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored, an OPS+ of 114 and 1.7 bWAR in 51+ games for the Rangers this season. Advertisement Still Texas has had trouble producing on offense this year. The team got Corey Seager back from the IR after he fully recovered from the second of two hamstring injuries that sidelined the All-Star catcher. But Seager, like the rest of his Rangers teammates, isn't hitting at the level fans expected. Texas is 62 games into the season and Langford leads the club with 11 homers. The Rangers' starting rotation has been strong in 2025. But Nathan Eovaldi is dealing with right triceps fatigue and oft banged up veteran Jacob deGrom recently had an injury scare as well. Both pitchers avoided the injured list for the time being. But the Rangers continue to slide. Texas entered play on Wednesday four games behind the Mariners and Astros, who are tied for first place in the AL West. The Rangers are in the second game of a nine-game road trip. They'll face the Nationals and the Twins before heading back home on June 13. Related: Rangers' Jacob deGrom trade idea draws MLB Network reaction
