Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell OVER 6.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)
Let's start small. Of course, star RB Saquon Barkley is going to gobble up a majority of the carries in his first Super Bowl. But, there is room for Gainwell to, uh, gain well.
Let's look back at the postseason results. In the NFC wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers, Gainwell had 14 rushing yards on 3 attempts. In the Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams, Gainwell had a single 10-yard rushing attempt, while he had 3 carries for 8 yards against the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
If we take a broader look going back into the regular season, Gainwell has had at least 7 rushing yards in 7 of the past 8 games, and 14 of the past 17 outings.
Gainwell isn't going to kill it, as long as Barkley remains healthy. But, he should get at least 7 yards or better. We saw a similar situation last season with the San Francisco 49ers with RB Christian McCaffrey and backup RB Elijah Mitchell. Taking the backups can be a low-risk, high-probability play.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts ANYTIME TD (-115)
You know at some point that the Eagles quarterback is going to have the ball in his hands in the red zone, and he is as dangerous as anybody with his feet.
The 'tush push' is likely to be the vehicle to get Hurts into the end zone. He had 3 rushing scores (along with Barkley) in the NFC Championship Game rout of the Commanders, and he added a rushing score against the Rams in the Divisional Round. Hurts has scored at least 1 rushing TD in 5 of the past 7 games, and 10 of the past 13 games.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith ANYTIME TD (+250)
In addition to Hurts getting into the end zone, Smith is worth a roll of the dice.
Don't get carried away, but don't forget about Smith, either, as he can help you multiply up by 2 1/2 times. He has exactly 4 receptions in each of the 3 postseason games, and he is averaging just 40.3 receiving yards per outing. The last time he scored was Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys, when he scored a pair of times.
Here is a little nugget that might make you feel good. Smith faced AFC teams 4 times in the regular season. He had at least 3 grabs, at least 64 receiving yards, and he scored in every game against the AFC this season.
First scoring play 3-way — including OT: Field Goal (+140)
Playing the touchdown (-165) here isn't as much of a value. In the NFC Championship Game, the first score was a field goal, by the Commanders, as they actually had a brief lead before getting boat-raced. The Eagles did have a TD in the other 2 playoff games to start, however.
For the Chiefs, a field goal opened the scoring in the Divisional Round against the Texans, while a TD was the first score in the AFC title game with the Buffalo Bills.
It's a coin-flip, but the better value is on a field goal.

Super Bowl MVP – Chiefs QB PATRICK MAHOMES (+105)
It's time, folks. We've never had an NFL team win the Super Bowl 3 times in a row. The dynasties of the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers or New England Patriots were unable to accomplish that feat. IF, and it's a big if, the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, Mahomes is a shoe-in for the MVP honors, whether he has an eye-popping stat game or not.

Patriots training camp, Day 3: Back at it

Safety Jabrill Peppers, who wears No. 5, joked, 'I keep telling him to take that No. 5 off. But he told me to go check in on the Patriots Hall of Fame. There's nothing I can say to come back from that.' Fair enough! Here's what to know for Friday. Friday's training camp schedule Friday's practice is open to fans, with access beginning at 9:15 a.m. If you'll be one of the many in attendance at Gillette, here are some tips: ▪ Pick a low vantage point for individual drills, a high one for team drills. Advertisement ▪ Memorize the roster and jersey numbers cold. ▪ Take note of the pairings and combinations. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up ▪ Grade the one-on-one battles, and be descriptive. ▪ Take note of the game situations. ▪ Listen to what the coaches are telling the players. At 9:45 a.m., head coach Mike Vrabel will talk to the media. Practice begins at 10 a.m., and a handful of players will speak to reporters after. What to know about the Patriots ▪ The Patriots' offensive line doesn't want to talk about last season. 'It's a new year,' right guard Michael Onwenu said. 'We're excited about this year.' As Yang notes: 'The offensive line, unable to effectively pass protect or run block consistently, has been a pain point for the Patriots amid their rebuild. Last season, Advertisement 'Those statistics mean that Patriots offensive linemen were among the worst in the NFL in both sustaining their blocks for longer than 2.5 seconds on passing plays and creating open lanes on designed running plays. They also ceded the highest pressure rate on dropbacks (40.7 percent), according to NFL Next Gen Stats.' Ouch. ▪ Christian Barmore spent much of Thursday working out on his own. The defensive tackle was out much of last season with blood clot issues. Barmore, who is listed at 315 pounds, said he played between 315 and 325 the last two years. He's aiming to be between 300 and 305 by the start of the season, working with director of sports performance Frank Piraino. 'I feel lighter, and I feel way quicker,' Barmore explained. 'And feel like I move way better. It's the best I've felt moving since I've been in the league. So, I feel really well.' ▪ Former Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich was a special guest at Thursday's practice. ▪ No practice again for Ja'Lynn Polk, who remains sidelined for undisclosed reasons. The sooner Polk can return to the field, the better his chances of making the 53-man roster. He's competing for a spot alongside Javon Baker, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, and undrafted rookie Efton Chism. ▪ Cornerback Carlton Davis also was not spotted during Thursday's practice. Davis opened training camp on NFI but practiced Wednesday. His availability is worth monitoring, as the 28-year-old has never played a complete NFL season. Advertisement ▪ Tight end Austin Hooper, wide receiver Mack Hollins, and tackle Vederian Lowe also remained sidelined for the second straight day while on PUP. Undrafted rookie defensive tackle Jahvaree Ritzie was a new absence. Katie McInerney can be reached at

We hit 44 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now

We've reached 44 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 44 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction. No. 44 Who's wearing it now: LB Tommy Eichenberg Eichenberg enters his second season with the Raiders. The Ohio State alum was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He appeared in 14 games as a rookie, starting one game and compiling 13 combined tackles. He did most of his work on special teams, seeing 313 snaps there (79%). This offseason he has often been lining up with the second team alongside rookie Cory Lindenberg. Who wore it best: RB Marv Hubbard Hubbard's time with the Raiders snuck right between their first trip to the Super Bowl and their second. Because his first season with the team was 1969 -- two years after their appearance in Super Bowl II -- and 1975 -- the year before their first Super Bowl win in 1976. But those were successful years for the Raiders and for Hubbard. He went to three Pro Bowls and the Raiders were in the playoffs six of those seven seasons. It was just terrible luck that he suffered a shoulder injury that knocked him out all of the 1976 season. But he still received a Super Bowl ring from the Raiders.

Early surprise emerges at a key position battle in training camp for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers may quickly wrap up one of their key defensive position battles. Third-year linebacker Dee Winters appears to be the frontrunner for the starting Will LB job through the first couple days of training camp. The WLB plays all three downs alongside Fred Warner, and the absence of a high-level playmaker at the position played a major role in San Francisco's defensive struggles a season ago. Finding a player to adequately replace Dre Greenlaw after Greenlaw left to join the Denver Broncos in free agency is key for the 49ers re-opening a Super Bowl window. Through two training camp practices signs point toward Winters getting the nod over 2025 third-round pick Nick Martin. Winters has gotten the first-team WLB reps to open camp, and Warner has noticed an improvement in the 24-year-old. "I've seen a lot of growth, honestly,' Warner told reporters on Wednesday. 'I've seen a guy who's ready to take that next step. You know, Dee has flashed in a big way through his first two seasons. And I think Year 3 is that year where it's like, 'Man, I know the system. I know what I needed to do in the offseason. And now it's time for me to take control and really put it on tape.' I'm excited for Dee, really.' Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh hasn't been with the 49ers while Winters has been with the club, but he noted Thursday in a press conference that injuries and the roster have never allowed Winters to take any substantial leap. "And so again just like any young guy, the only way they're going to get better is with reps," Saleh said. "And so young guys like Dee, their growth can get stunted when they're sitting on the bench just watching. There's nothing like doing. And so he had an opportunity the last half of last year to get some reps in and it just feels like every day he's learning something again, just through repetition. So, knock on wood, hopefully he can continue to stay healthy and absorb every single one of these reps and learn all the nuance that's required to play linebacker. I think if he does, he's going to be a fun player to watch.' It's a bit of a surprise that Winters burst on the scene this way. Last season was a mixed bag in his 398 defensive snaps. The 49ers went so far as to select Martin in the third round of this year's draft. That choice was a clear indication that San Francisco felt the need to draft a potential starter at WLB. Our assumption entering camp was that Martin would have the inside track to one of the most important open starting jobs on the 49ers' roster. Early indications are that that assumption was incorrect. If Winters plays well enough to earn the nod over the rookie third-round pick, it would be a great sign for San Francisco's defense as it tries to bounce back from its dreary 2024 performance.
