Scots Oasis super fan hopes band 'don't just go through motions' in Edinburgh next month

Daily Record28-07-2025
The group will play at Murrayfield Stadium in less than two weeks.
It is officially less than two weeks until Oasis return to Scotland. The band will come to Edinburgh next month as part of their monumental reunion tour.

On August 8, 9, and 12, Oasis will take the stage at Murrayfield Stadium in the Scottish capital. The last time the legendary group, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, performed in Scotland was 2009.

The band broke up in dramatic fashion with a backstage bust-up between Liam and Noel just a few months later. For a long time, it looked as though the Britpop group had called it quits for good.

Talk of a possible reunion over the following decade and a half was repeatedly shot down. With no end of the siblings' ongoing public feud in sight, hope was seemingly lost.
However, in 2024, an Oasis return was at last made official. The rock legends revealed that they would be touring Edinburgh, Cardiff, Manchester, London, and Dublin in summer 2025.
Following the news of the reunion, Scottish Oasis devotees expressed their delight. One member of the Oasis Collectors Group on Facebook was among those who voiced his views.

David Walker, from Glasgow, commented: "It's very exciting news for the many massive Oasis fans like me after months of rumours which seemed to have more substance to them than usual.
"Nobody could quite believe it, but here we are. It's official—Liam and Noel back together on a stage in Scotland, and come August 2025, there will be an almighty party in Edinburgh."

"And if so, will new music follow, or is it purely money-driven and then they'll simply go their separate ways again?

"Fans 100 per cent want to see the brothers performing together again, but if they're just going through the motions, then they won't want to see the band's legacy tarnished. Nobody wants to see a sad end to it all.
"But right here, right now, all our dreams are made."
The Daily Record previously reported on the Edinburgh road closures that fans should know about ahead of the gigs. Concertgoers could face significant disruption if they are not aware of the closures in place around Murrayfield.
Meanwhile, we also rounded up last-minute hotels in the city for Oasis fans who have yet to book accommodation. We also shared a list of the top restaurants and pubs in walking distance of Murrayfield for some pre-gig food and drink.
For more Oasis content, the Daily Record has looked back at two of the band's most iconic Scottish concerts over the years. We delved into both their first Glasgow gig that got them signed and their legendary shows that drew tens of thousands of fans to the shores of Loch Lomond.

Sturgeon on TV: Golden gal takes on Little Miss Brass Neck. Who won?

Prime Ministers, presidents, princes, Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie - Julie has sat knee to knee with them all. But how would the golden gal of British broadcasting fare against the big brass neck of Scottish politics? Viewers turned to Nicola Sturgeon: the Interview to find out. 'The' interview suggested something special, but filming took place in Ayrshire ten days ago. Since then Ms Sturgeon has been all over the Murdoch press and every other branch of the media, her book picked cleaner than a turkey on Boxing Day. This, however, was the first broadcast interview, which meant the first chance to see Ms Sturgeon becoming 'emotional' as television folk coyly call it when someone cries on camera. Etchingham had dressed in cool neutrals for the occasion, with Sturgeon opting for a scarlet jacket. Perhaps she was trying to channel her inner Butlin's Redcoat to jolly things past the difficult stuff. It didn't work. Certainly there was no May-like confession to stealing from the pick n mix in Woolworths. She was rude about Nigel Farage ('odious'), but who isn't? When she did get into difficulty it was all her own doing, as when Etchingham brought up the rapist Isla Bryson. You might have thought it impossible for Sturgeon to make even more of a pig's ear out of this subject, but boy did she ever. Etchingham was looking at the former First Minister as if she was trying to argue that the Earth was flat. Personally, I turned the same shade as Sturgeon's jacket. Someone had to shoulder the embarrassment and it was not going to be our Nicola. There was some moistening around the eye area when she spoke of Alex Salmond's passing. She still misses him 'in some way' - a quote up there with Charles's 'whatever love means' - for half-baked sincerity. As for her new love life, her lips were sealed. 'I'm enjoying being my own person for a while,' she burbled, sounding for all the world like some Real Housewife of Montecito. Etchingham had a go at holding Sturgeon to account on domestic policy but nothing landed. She might as well have been on The One Show on BBC1, sandwiched between a soap star and an item on dodgy plumbers. The half hour running time and the 7pm slot told their own story. If there had been anything juicy the programme would have been on at 9pm, not just before Emmerdale. Upstaged by sheep. It shouldn't happen to a vet, or a former FM, but it did. The toe-curling was not quite over - there was still the matter of Nic's first tattoo. 'Midlife crisis alert,' she joked. You said it, dear. It was an infinity symbol she designed herself, something about strength and resilience and moving forward. In short, your basic woo-woo b******. Come to think of it, that would have been a better title for her book. Is it too late to change?

Oasis weigh up offers for huge gigs in 2026 including four Knebworth anniversary shows after success of reunion tour

A huge festival in the US have made an offer to the Gallagher brothers WONDERHAUL Oasis weigh up offers for huge gigs in 2026 including four Knebworth anniversary shows after success of reunion tour JUST weeks after Oasis' sell-out 41-date reunion tour kicked off, I was inundated with calls about what was being lined up next for Noel and Liam Gallagher. According to two of my contacts, the brothers have been offered four huge shows at Knebworth House next year — to mark the 30th anniversary of their two historic concerts there in 1996. 15 Liam and Noel Gallagher, pictured in Edinburgh, have been inundated with offers following the success of their tour Credit: Big Brother Recording If the rockers take up the offer, the shows would see them beating their former foe Robbie Williams' achievement of playing the iconic Hertfordshire venue three times. Another three of my moles then called up at the start of last month — to tell me they'd heard about a possible residency at the Etihad Stadium, home of their beloved Manchester City. Weeks later, the rumours started to build online, with fake posters circulated and fan forums alight with talk of the potential to keep the reunion alive. A well-placed insider, who works for a major promoter, told me: 'I could see all of this happening. 'There is so much on the table but it's whether Noel and Liam want to do it.' Those close to the band tell me Noel and Liam are not considering anything for 2026, with no solid plans or bookings locked in. 'They'll be having a well-earned holiday as soon as this tour finishes later this year,' a source explained. 'As for 2026, they've seen the speculation, they've heard about the offers and they know what the fans want. 'Keep magic going' 'But it's ultimately up for them to decide. 'The Oasis reunion hasn't just been concerts. You can see that it's been a cultural movement. Nothing comes close in recent history to Oasis's shows. Liam Gallagher in fresh foul-mouthed rant at Edinburgh Council during Oasis night two 'It's a question of whether Noel and Liam want to draw a line in the sand and close the door on this chapter, knowing they captured the zeitgeist. Or do they strike it up again and keep the magic going? It's a difficult decision to make.' Last month I revealed that private bidders and festivals — including Coachella in the US and Benicassim in Spain — have sent in offers for the band to consider. All those, I've been told, have so far been stonewalled. As a fan, I'd love the chance to see them live just one last time. But if Noel and Liam do decide that this is it, then I'm counting my lucky stars I got to be there in Cardiff, on the second night of the comeback. 15 Liam and Noel Gallagher have been offered four huge shows at Knebworth House next year Credit: Getty Jamie a dip of all right JAMIE DORNAN is apparently a big fan of cold-water swimming, which makes him the natural fit to promote, er, Diet Coke. He said: 'Cold-water swimming is a passion that's become very important to me. It's my way of finding a moment for myself and I try to do it as often as I can. 'I hope that giving a peek behind the scenes of my lesser-known passion inspires others to take a moment for themselves, crack open an ice-cold Diet Coke, and explore their own personal tastes.' When I look back, it actually gives me some PTSD. 'I'm so fortunate now that I've got such an incredible team around me and we trust each other. That has changed everything for me.' Maura has an upcoming appearance on The Traitors US and told Original Magazine: 'I can't say too much yet about how it all played out, but let's just say viewers are going to be absolutely hooked.' A music insider said: 'Jordan and Jade are huge supporters of each other and it meant a lot that he wanted to be in the video. 'It's not a big part because he wasn't on set for the whole thing. It will be a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but also very special. 'They know that their fans will love to try to spot him in the finished video when it comes out in a few weeks' time.' Jade will be the first Little Mix member to release a solo album when the project comes out – three years after the group performed their final concert. She has been dating Rizzle Kicks star Jordan for five years and he is regularly by her side supporting her, despite having a hectic schedule of his own. Teasing his possible involvement last week, Nick said: 'I can neither confirm nor deny that is happening or not. You'll just have to wait and see.' Well, this collaboration on stage isn't going to quieten any speculation. THE summer of 2025 will go down as one of the biggest ever for music.
