
Punjab govt to bring OTS scheme for arhtiyas
Khudian, who is also the head of the Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted to further streamline paddy and other Kharif crops procurement to ensure a hassle-free experience for farmers, said the Punjab Mandi Board's OTS scheme is expected to benefit a large number of 'arhtiyas', enhancing their financial stability and contributing to the overall growth of the agricultural sector in Punjab.
The 'arhtiyas', who were also present on the occasion, said the payment rate of loading the produce in the mandis has not been increased since many years.
They demanded an increase in the payment rate to which Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Director Varinder Kumar Sharma replied that an approval with regard to the same has been given by the Government of India and the notification would be issued soon.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government has constituted a GoM, comprising Agriculture Minister Khudian as the chairman, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal as members to ensure smooth procurement of Kharif crops, said an official statement. Ministers suggest key reforms for new bar policy
Mangalagiri: Severalministers suggested key reforms for the upcoming bar policy during a crucial meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on excise held here on Friday. The suggestions focused on improving tourism prospects, encouraging entrepreneurship, and aligning bar locations with industrial growth corridors. Health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav proposed consulting with the tourism department to include provisions that would boost tourism. Minister for MSMEs and NRI empowerment Kondapalli Srinivas suggested measures to attract new entrepreneurs into the liquor sector. Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar emphasised the need to relocate bars strategically, especially in view of emerging industrial zones. Food and civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar called for a detailed review of the implementation of the current 'Shop Policy' to assess its implications on the upcoming bar policy. The meeting was held in hybrid mode, with excise minister Kollu Ravindra and energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar attending in person, while other ministers joined virtually. Director of prohibition and excise Nishant Kumar presented a comprehensive review of the state's bar policy, including historical trends, licence disposal methods, fee structures, and the bar-to-population ratio. The current policy (2022–25) allows 840 standalone bars and 50 premium establishments like star hotels and microbreweries. A comparative analysis of bar regulations in Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu was also discussed. Principal secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena shared stakeholder feedback from the AP State Wine Dealers Association, Star Hotels Association, and the AP Hotels Association. He also outlined financial impacts of different policy models. The suggestions made by ministers will be considered while drafting the final version of the new bar policy, which is expected to be rolled out after the current one expires on August 31. Senior officials including excise enforcement director Rahul Dev Sharma were also present.

Union Cabinet Approves Four Multi-tracking Railway Projects, Here's What PM Modi Says
The decision was taken at CCEA meeting chaired by PM Modi. It will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 574 kilometres. In a significant step which will help decongest the railway network and reduce logistics cost, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday approved four multitracking projects covering 13 districts across six states, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the decision is part ofthe government's efforts to provide next-generation infrastructure. He said these projects will benefit people of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. 'In a boost to our efforts to provide next-generation infrastructure, 4 major rail projects worth over Rs. 11,100 crore have been approved by the Cabinet," PM Modi said in a post on X. The decision was taken at CCEA meeting chaired by PM Modi. It will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 574 kilometres. The projects are expected to generate direct employment for about 229 lakh human-days during construction. Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw said that the projects include Itarsi – Nagpur fourth line; Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) – Parbhani Doubling; AluabariDangoaposi– Jaroli third and fourth line. Atmanirbhar" by way of comprehensive development in the area, which will enhance their employment/ self-employment opportunities. The projects are planned on the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan with a focus on enhancing multi-modal connectivity & logistic efficiency through integrated planning and stakeholder consultations. 'These projects will provide seamless connectivity for movement of people, goods, and services," the release said. The proposed multi-tracking project will enhance connectivity to about 2,309 villages, which have a population of about 43.60 lakh. 'These are essential routes for transportation of commodities such as coal, cement, clinker, gypsum, fly ash, containers, agricultural commodities, and Petroleum products.
