T-Mobile users are having a meltdown over the latest freebie

Phone Arenaa day ago
Freebies aren't usually held to the same standard as items that you buy yourself, but that doesn't mean they should crumple before you have had a chance to use them. That's what seems to be happening with the latest T-Mobile Tuesdays gift, though.
After multiple delays, T-Mobile finally started giving out the long-rumored temperature-retaining bottle at select stores yesterday. The company has been having shipping issues, which is why the bottle isn't widely available. Shipping issues are far from the company's biggest problem, though. Reddit user cbs326 left their T-Mobile bottle in their parked car for a couple of hours and came back to a warped mess. They didn't get to use it even once.
This T-Mobile-branded bottle couldn't survive a few hours in a parked car.
While plastic can degrade in a hot car, plastic bottles don't start melting when left in a stationary vehicle, so this incident speaks to the T-Mobile bottle's quality. The bottle is completely distorted and you could only imagine what would have become of it had it been left in the car for even longer. Some users have pointed out that the bottle isn't dishwasher safe, which indicates it wasn't designed to withstand heat. While that's true for most plastic bottles, it's not common for them to melt when left in a car. T-Mobile Tuesdays' freebies are often criticized for being low-quality. For instance, in December, a user reported that their T-Mobile -branded flashlight smoked up out of the blue and sparks flashed from within.
The tote bag that the company handed out in April was made of good-quality fabric, igniting hope that the company had stopped handing out substandard stuff. The bottle incident indicates that's not the case, though it's possible that the sunlight was magnified by the car windows and the problem was exacerbated by the heat from the seats.
Even if you dismiss this as a one-off case, most users have the perception that T-Mobile Tuesdays gifts are of inferior quality, with many saying they aren't even interested in grabbing them.

—dainthomas, T-Mobile user, August 2025 Long-time users note that T-Mobile gave out decent-quality items when the Tuesdays program first took off, but things have gone downhill now. As an example, one user complained that the snowflakes on the pint glass that T-Mobile distributed in December washed off within days.
—Deceptiveideas, Reddit user, August 2025 T-Mobile 's real perceived intention behind these giveaways is getting your foot into its stores with the hope of luring you into a new service. While that's understandable, the company needs to take a look at the quality of the stuff that it hands out and avoid cutting too many corners, or else T-Mobile Tuesdays may become another turn-off for its customers.

For the first time, you can now get a Certified Re-Newed foldable directly from Samsung

The Certified Re-Newed program was created to give buyers a more affordable way to own a premium Samsung phone while maintaining the reassurance of manufacturer quality. Samsung says that under this program every device is inspected by their own specialists, repaired if necessary with 100% genuine Samsung parts, and fitted with a certified new battery. Each phone comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty, ensuring buyers have the same after-sales support they'd expect with a new device. Until now, the program had focused on Galaxy S series and other non-foldable models. By bringing the Galaxy Z series into the mix, Samsung is extending its value-oriented option to one of the most expensive categories in its lineup. Foldables have traditionally carried a high entry price, which has been a hurdle for customers curious about the technology but hesitant to invest over $1,000 on a first try. $135 off (54%) True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, MagSafe Charging Case, Refurbished, Very Good Condition, 1-Year Warranty Buy at eBay The Certified Re-Newed versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are available exclusively through Samsung's website in Phantom Black for $1,169 (256GB) or $1,219 (512GB). The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is available in Graphite, starting at $649 for 256GB and $699 for 512GB. These prices reflect savings of several hundred dollars compared to buying new, potentially opening the door for more users to experience a foldable without paying full retail. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are now available for the first time as certified re-newed. | Images credit — Samsung Including foldables in an official refurb program signals Samsung's growing confidence in the durability of its newer designs. It also stands apart in the U.S. market with this move, as Apple's refurbished store offers certified iPhones and iPads — but of course, no foldables as the company hasn't made one yet. Still, even with the discount, Certified Re-Newed foldables remain premium purchases. Some shoppers may opt for a new mid-range phone with a strong camera and battery life at a similar or lower price, sacrificing the novelty of a foldable screen. But for those eager to try the technology without committing to a brand-new model, the program offers a safer and more affordable entry point.

Google Messages is slowly taking over Samsung and Pixel users' screens

A new Google Messages bug has popped up, and while it's mostly harmless, it's kind of bug has replicated the Google Messages icon, so there are now two app icons in the app launcher's suggestions and app drawer. The two icons are located next to each other, and either one of them can be used to launch the application. Interestingly, the app icon doesn't appear twice on the home screens and in search problem affects the Google Messages beta version 20250811_03_RC00 and has shown up on Pixel and Samsung devices. The code sleuths over at Android Authority dug deep into the problem and found out what was happening. Apparently, this is a result of duplicate declarations by Google, tricking the system into thinking that there are two apps to display, even though both icons open Google Messages. The Google Messages icon was duplicated after the latest beta update. | Image Credit - Android Authority A couple of users who uninstalled and reinstalled the app are now stuck with three icons. One user exited the beta and uninstalled updates, and the extra icon disappeared. —ImrozChauhan, Reddit user, August 2025 This looks like a harmless bug and doesn't appear to impact the app's functionality in any way. Google will likely eradicate the bug with the next update, but for those who don't like a cluttered interface and are very particular about how their app drawers look, it's surely a the downside of enrolling in beta programs, though, and usually, people who sign up for them are used to problems like you can't stand it, you may want to revert to the stable version of the Google Messages app. Google regularly ships new features to its messaging app, and the updates sometimes introduce bugs. For instance, earlier this month, the beta version was plagued with a bug that caused it to crash. Like we said, this is a part of the beta experience, and if you want more stability, the beta program might not be for you.

Best Buy is selling the glorious Google Pixel 9 Pro at an unbelievable $400 discount

As if Google's mission to build buzz around next week's Pixel 10 series launch event was not made difficult enough by the repetitive designs and specs of the "new" phones and the rumored delay of the family's most exciting member, Amazon and Best Buy are for some reason making it rain this week with killer Pixel 9 series deals. Mere hours after spotting the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at an unprecedented $600 discount, I'm here to recommend you consider the Pixel 9 Pro at 400 bucks under its list price as well. Obviously, this is a totally different device aimed at a different audience, with just one screen in tow that's incredibly the same size as the 9 Pro Fold's secondary display. 5G, Unlocked, 128GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Android 14, Google Tensor G4 Processor, 6.3-Inch LTPO OLED Display with 2856 x 1280 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 50 + 48 +48MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 42MP Front-Facing Camera, Gemini Integration, 4,700mAh Battery, Obsidian Color Buy at BestBuy Of course, the resolution and peak brightness are both higher on the non-Fold Pixel 9 Pro , which only costs $599 after that aforementioned $400 markdown, making the Pixel 9 Pro Fold feel overpriced once again. In case you're wondering, this handset has never been this affordable before, and yes, that includes Amazon's member-exclusive Prime Day sales event last month. And no, you don't have to meet any special conditions whatsoever right now to maximize your savings. What you may need to do is hurry, as you're obviously looking at a single 128GB storage variant sold for a whopping $400 less than usual, and perhaps even more notably, a single Obsidian colorway as well. That almost certainly means that Best Buy will run out of inventory pretty quickly for a very simple reason. The Pixel 9 Pro is relatively small, but also extremely powerful, sharp, and stylish. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena This is an absolutely unbeatable value proposition at the time of this writing, and the thing that will probably drive that point home in the best way is our comprehensive Pixel 9 Pro review from last year calling the 6.3-inch Tensor G4 powerhouse the "dream compact phone." I just can't think of a compact device capable of matching this bad boy's raw speed, camera performance, screen quality, battery life, long-term software support, and affordability, and while the Pixel 10 Pro is virtually guaranteed to bring some upgrades to the table next week, those are unlikely to be very impressive... and the price point is likely to be quite hard to stomach at launch.
