EXCLUSIVE Disgraced paedophile popstar Gary Glitter will stay in jail after his application to be released was refused

Daily Mail17-06-2025
Gary Glitter will stay in jail for another two years after being told today that his application to be released from prison had been rejected.
The shamed singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was jailed for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980.
The 80-year-old was automatically released from HMP The Verne - a low-security prison in Portland, Dorset - in February 2023 after serving half of his 16-year fixed-term determinate sentence.
But just six weeks after walking free, he was dramatically taken back for breaching his licence conditions by allegedly viewing downloaded images of children.
And he's remained inside since March 2023, having been refused bail in February 2024 when it was determined he remains a risk to children, who he had a 'sexual interest in'.
Glitter's latest appeal was refused today and a spokesperson for the Parole Board confirmed: 'We can confirm that a panel of the Parole Board refused the release of Paul Gadd following a paper review.
'Parole Board decisions are solely focused on what risk a prisoner could represent to the public if released and whether that risk is manageable in the community.
'A panel will carefully examine a huge range of evidence, including details of the original crime, and any evidence of behaviour change, as well as explore the harm done and impact the crime has had on the victims.
'Parole reviews are undertaken thoroughly and with extreme care. Protecting the public is our number one priority.
'Under current legislation he will be eligible for a further review in due course. The date of the next review will be set by the Ministry of Justice.'
The Parole Board is due to release a written summary explaining why it decided to turn down the appeal, which MailOnline can reveal was only heard based on 'papers,' or Glitter's prison documentation and police reports.
The three-person board conducted the parole hearing earlier this month.
Glitter was not given the opportunity to address the parole panel personally via a zoom call from prison.
It is believed he is held at HM Prison Risley, Warrington, Cheshire, which specialises in holding male sex offenders.
The panel also had to assess extensive reports by psychiatrists.
The February 2024 appeal heard that Glitter was recalled to prison after he used a smartphone to watch videos of young girls on the dark web whilst in a bail hostel.
The summary of the decision to keep Glitter behind bars stated Glitter still had a perverted sexual interest in children which 'could not be safely managed'.
'The panel examined in detail the evidence for such interests at the point of offending and subsequent to conviction. It found on the evidence that at the time of the offending, and while he was on licence,' the board said
'Mr Gadd had a sexual interest in underage girls. There was also concern about the lack of victim empathy which he had continued to show.
'Evidence was presented at the hearing regarding Mr Gadd's progress and custodial conduct during this sentence. Since his recall, his behaviour in prison was reported to have been generally good.'
It continued: 'At no stage during his sentence had Mr Gadd undertaken accredited programmes or other training interventions to address his offending, due to ineligibility of a programme and the unsuitability of other programmes because of his denials.
'His probation officer advised that Mr Gadd's risks could not be safely managed in the community at this point. An in-depth assessment would be needed to ascertain suitable treatments which might reduce his risk in future.'
Glitter's fall from grace began in the late 1990s when he was convicted for possessing thousands of child abuse images and was jailed for four months in 1999.
In 2002, he was expelled from Cambodia amid reports of sex crime allegations, and in March 2006 he was convicted of sexually abusing two girls, aged ten and 11, in Vietnam and spent two and a half years in jail.
The offences for which he was jailed in 2015 came to light as part of Operation Yewtree, the Metropolitan Police investigation launched in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

MasterChef viewers demand contestant is 'disqualified' after he makes a MAJOR blunder

This year's series of Masterchef had already been marred in controversy, after its stars John Torode and Gregg Wallace were axed by bosses. But viewers were venting their fury for a wholly different reason after Wednesday's episode, as they demanded a contestant be 'disqualified' for a major gaffe. The show saw the remaining six contenders - Naomi, Martin, Joy, Michael, Reuben and Victoria - face the challenge of impressing Gregg and John with their 'basic to brilliant' creations. Contestants were ask to transform everyday home cooking into something 'extraordinary', and IT project manager Reuben chose to present traditional meatballs alongside handmade pappardelle pasta in tomato sauce. Things took a turn when Gregg cut into the meatballs to taste them, only to discover they were still raw inside. Despite earning praise for his pasta and sauce, Gregg and John were quick to share thoughts on the main element of the dish being undercooked. Gregg said: 'Big issue with the meatballs,' whilst John added: 'I cannot ignore the fact that you've got meatballs that aren't cooked all the way through.' Visibly dejected by the feedback, Reuben admitted: 'I'm feeling deflated. After all, they weren't cooked all the way through, so I can forgive them for not wanting to eat them.' Viewers were also quick to make their feelings known on social media, with some claiming Reuben should be 'disqualified' for the gaffe. Posts on X included: 'Undercooked meatballs should be instant disqualification; 'Were they cooked with a blowtorch?; 'Sorry, but that's a major schoolboy error at the stage he should absolutely be disqualified. Shame.' Reuben's meant he ultimately missed out on a place in the quarter-finals, and he was sent home along with Joy and Martin. It comes days after MasterChef was ripped to shreds for its 'disgraceful' editing of Gregg in its latest episode, with viewers declaring: 'Is this for real?' Viewers were also quick to make their feelings known on social media, with some claiming Reuben should be 'disqualified' for the gaffe Gregg and co-host John Torode were sacked after almost 20 years on the show by the BBC last month after an investigation upheld allegations about their poor behaviour. Wallace had 40 complaints upheld, including one where he was accused of wandering around set naked with a sock on his penis. Torode was found to have used a racist term in 2018. Their final series of MasterChef was filmed before they were both fired. The show's bosses have insisted on keeping them in the final edit - but only if they were on screen less and their banter and jokes were cut down to a minimum. Several contestants asked to be edited out themselves to avoid being on screen with them. Daily Mail revealed that viewers have pointed out 'disgraceful' edits in the new series on BBC One and iPlayer, with many cuts appearing awkward and repetitive, including those of Mr Wallace. In one scene shown last week, stills of Gregg pulling the same face three times in around a minute made it to air - with many suggesting that the BBC and production company Banijay used the same footage of the disgraced host repeatedly through the show. Some of his fans have even claimed the edits, where Gregg gives a semi-gurning smile, were deliberately to embarrass him and 'make him look demented'. TikTok user Gingernat Design shared a particularly unusual example, writing: 'Clever editing from MasterChef. 'Whether this is to do with the allegations or not I don't know, but it's jokes how they just froze Gregg Wallace for an entire conversation.' The now-viral clip sees a contestant discuss her performance with Torode and Wallace. The same shot of Wallace appears to be used three times in succession - and he is seen with a broad grin fixed on his face. The uncanny scene has horrified fans, who rushed to social media to express their disapproval.

Celebs Go Dating airs emotional scenes as stars break down in tears over 'triggering' past relationships and difficult childhoods

The Celebs Go Dating agency was turmoil during Wednesday night's episode after two stars broke down in tears in a candid discussion about their past. Olivia Hawkins, 30, admitted to feeling 'triggered' by her past relationships while Sam Prince, 28, said he found himself 'never being enough' for his parents which has left him 'sensitive' when it comes to romance. Speaking to experts Anna Williamson and Dr Tara, former Love Island star Liv discussed her date with Louis Russell - which ended in tears after he kissed someone else during another date. 'It's a trigger of people I've dated from the past,' she explained as she wiped away her tears. 'I've always wanted that instant connection with someone and I really feel that with him, and I know it's so early but I don't think it's the right situation for me.' Liv recalled when she discovered a man she had been dating in the past had a partner. She continued: 'But I just kept going back. I just really wanted to change him and I lost myself a bit.' Meanwhile, Sam headed out on a date with a girl called Annie, who went on to brand him 'nasty' and rate their night a 2/10. He explained: 'As much as I have this persona where people watch me on TV and think I don't give a f**k, I give more of a f**k then ever and I'm very sensitive. 'When I'm in love with someone, I'm so in love. Sometimes I feel like I'm too in love. I rely on that person for everything, and that's where I think I've gone wrong.' Sam then explained how past relationships have left him feeling 'resentful' after giving too much, which he thinks stems from 'never feeling like he was enough' for his parents. Former Love Island star Olivia and Too Hot To Handle 's Louis immediately hit it off after they landed in Ibiza to film the E4 dating show and shared a smooch. However, during Monday evening's instalment, their connection was put to the test as Louis went on a date with a gorgeous brunette, who was later revealed to be Jazmine Nichol. Jazmine entered the Casa Amor Love Island villa in 2022 as a bombshell; however, she failed to find a spark with any of the boys and was dumped from the villa. Sam then explained how past relationships have left him feeling 'resentful' after giving too much, which he thinks stems from 'never feeling like he was enough' for his parents Previously, Olivia and Too Hot To Handle's Louis, 24, immediately hit it off after they landed in Ibiza to film the E4 dating show and shared a smooch Louis and Liv had a very strong connection on the hit E4 show, and things between the pair got steamy in a short matter of time. A show insider told The Sun at the time: 'It usually takes a few weeks for things to spice up, but not with these two. 'Within 48 hours of arriving in Ibiza, the sexual spark between them was obvious. They clearly couldn't resist each other.'

Southport killer 'wins back television and DVD player perks in prison' after hurling boiling water at a guard as bosses 'bribe him to behave'

Southport triple killer Axel Rudakubana has won back privileges, including a TV and an enhanced weekly spending budget, amid claims guards are 'bribing' him to behave. It is understood the 19-year-old has been raised from 'basic' to 'standard' treatment just weeks after he allegedly threw boiling water at a guard at HMP Belmarsh in south east London. The incident, which is still under investigation by Met Police, is said to have involved Rudakubana boiling a kettle in his cell and throwing the scalding water through a hatch in May. Staff were alerted by the guard's screams and he was treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. He was discharged after being treated for minor injuries. But now it appears Rudakubana has had some of his privileges returned, The Sun reported. Being elevated to 'standard' means the murderer can have more time out of his cell, as well as increased access to workshops, the library and the gym at the high security prison. He will have access to Freeview TV, a DVD player and will also see his weekly allowance rise from £5.50 a week to around £20. A source said the move was 'outrageous', adding: 'They are basically bribing him to behave — by saying we'll give you a telly and you can keep it if you don't attack anyone.' The 19-year-old triple murderer reportedly hurled boiling water at a prison officer at HMP Belmarsh (pictured) in Thamesmead, east London, where he is serving a life sentence Reform MP Richard Tice said: 'I'm appalled. It feels like he is being rewarded for bad behaviour.' Rudakubana is serving 52 years for killing Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Bebe King, six, at a dance class in July last year. The incident at Belmarsh came as serious assaults on prison officers increased 19 per cent in a year according to Home Office figures.
