Cricketer Suresh Raina To Make His Acting Debut. Details Inside
Former India cricketer and Chennai Super Kings's dearly loved Chinna Thala Suresh Raina is to make his debut as an actor in a Tamil film that is to be directed by director Logan.
The film, which will be based on cricket, is to be produced by producer Saravana Kumar, whose production house called Dream Knight Stories (DKS) was officially launched on Friday evening in Chennai.
Cricketer Shivam Dube, who plays the role of a pinch hitter for the Chennai Super Kings, officially unveiled the name of the production house and its logo.
Suresh Raina, who is in Amsterdam with his family on a holiday, joined the event through a video call.
Raina said he wanted to be at the event but said that he could not make it as he had been informed a little late.
When Raina was asked what had made him to pick Tamil and the production house DKS for making his debut as an actor, he replied, "I think DKS has a good director and first of all when the director told me the story, it was very close to us. Then being a cricket movie, it has to start from Tamil Nadu because we have been playing a lot of matches for CSK over the years and they have a lot of love, liking and a lot of affection."
On a lighter note, when it was pointed out to Raina that Shivam Dube had been asked what sort of an actor he would be, if he had become an actor, the pinch hitter for Chennai Super Kings had said he would have been a romantic hero. When Raina was asked the same question, he said, "I think I will be a very good singer. Having a guitar in my hand. Making a nice dosa for my team mates. Enjoy having rasam rice. I will be chilled out. No stress."
Raina went on to add with a laugh, "He (Shivam Dube) can be a romantic actor, I can be a romantic singer. So, we can gel along."

ED records Raina's statement in illegal betting probe
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday recorded the statement of cricketer Suresh Raina in connection with its larger money laundering probe against several illegal online betting platforms, which use multiple platforms for surrogate advertisements and collect funds from their users, officials said. Former cricketer Suresh Raina. (PTI) The former India player reached the ED headquarters at around 11 am and was examined till evening. Raina's statement was recorded under the prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) for endorsing a sports betting app, which indulged in illegal practices. An officer, without naming the player, said 'another former Indian cricketer has also been asked to appear before the agency.' ED is calling several celebrities to understand their links with the betting apps, any endorsement fee earned and the mode of communication between them. Earlier, the agency had called the representatives of Google and Meta for questioning as part of this probe. The financial crimes probe agency is probing multiple illegal online betting platforms and has questioned tech firms, media houses' representatives who have received money in the form of advertisements from them. Several platforms hosting illegal betting and gambling links, including instances of advertisements placed for them on various social media outlets and app stores, are under the ED scanner. In 2023, the Union ministry of information and broadcasting issued four advisories to newspapers, broadcast news channels, entertainment channels, publishers of online news and current affairs content, online advertisement intermediaries (like Google and Facebook), and social media platforms to not advertise online betting platforms. Despite these instructions from the Centre, eminent personalities in the field of entertainment and sports endorsed them. These actors and sportspersons are also under the ED's scanner and they could be summoned soon, according to an ED officer. According to the information gathered by ED over the past several months, multiple betting platforms, which have been banned over the years, still run their operations by changing names and are promoted by celebrities and social media influencers. 'These platforms are in violation of multiple laws and directions by the Indian government, including tax evasion, money laundering, and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) as money is transferred out of the country illegally. It is estimated that around 220 million Indian users are currently engaged on various betting apps, and 110 million of these are regular users,' said the officer. In just the first three months of 2025, more than 1.6 billion visits were recorded on illegal betting websites or apps and it is suspected that the online betting market in India might be worth around $100 million, the first ED officer said. 'The estimates also suggest that top betting apps are evading ₹27,000 crore in taxes every year,' the officer said. The government has issued 1,524 blocking orders against illegal gambling websites and mobile apps between 2022 and June 2025, as revealed in a response from the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) in the ongoing monsoon session.

'He's not studying at all...': Sachin Tendulkar's humorous response to Air Hostess as she mistook Indian cricketer for Arjun
Sachin Tendulkar Apart from being widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Sachin Tendulkar is also a master prankster. Anyone who played alongside him especially the 2000 batch that debuted under Sourav Ganguly will vouch for it. Stories of Tendulkar teasing his teammates have become legendary. Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, and Virender Sehwag all experienced it firsthand, but none of their encounters compare to what Suresh Raina went through. From 2006 until the Master Blaster's retirement, Raina and Tendulkar were teammates. Despite all the ups and downs, Raina vividly recalls this one incident on a plane. They were also involved in some well-known victories and heartbreaks at the same time. Raina recalled the time Tendulkar chose to amuse himself at his expense while they were traveling to a city to play a match. Suresh Raina recalled a funny story from a flight with Sachin Tendulkar 'We were once going to play a Test match when I was about 18 years old, and I was sitting in business class next to Sachin paaji. The air hostess came over and said, 'Good morning, Sachin sir. How are you?' and assuming I was Arjun Tendulkar, she said something to him about me in passing; Sachin paaji saw a chance to have some fun. He replied, 'Yes, he's not studying at all, what to do? I've even told Anjali (Tendulkar)',' Raina said on the 'Cheeky Singles' show. The incident most likely occurred after July 2010, the year Raina made his Indian Test debut. Raina joined a distinguished list that includes Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and Virender Sehwag, and became the 12th Indian batter to score a century in his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Recalling that flight in more detail, Raina said that Sachin eventually took to the skies and resolved the case of mistaken identity, but not before they all laughed heartily about it. 'Later, we went to the section where the other players were sitting, and I blurted, 'Why are you making me sit in business class? You've made me Arjun Tendulkar!' (Sachin) paaji eventually clarified it to air hostess saying, 'He's a part of the Indian cricket team, he is Suresh Raina, not my son'. Paaji loved playing such big pranks sometimes.' Raina mentioned. Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina have shared some incredible batting partnership There have been some amazing batting partnership between Raina and Tendulkar, but none more well-known than their 256-run partnership in the same game at Colombo. India reached a massive first-innings total of 707 thanks to 203 runs from Tendulkar and 120 from Raina. The game ended in a draw.
