'Don't Lose Sleep On It': Manish Tewari's '1971 War' Message To Trump After Tariff Threat

Last Updated: Congress MP Manish Tewari reminded President Donald Trump of the time the US tried to interfere in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War by sending ships to deter India's actions Soon after Donald Trump on Monday warned that he will 'substantially raise" the tariff paid by India for buying 'massive amounts of Russian Oil", Congress MP Manish Tewari had some scathing remarks of his own for the American President and said India has 'resilience" enough to withstand his 'tariff threat". In a sardonic tone, he asked Trump not to 'lose sleep on it" and reminded him of the time the United States tried to interfere in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. Comparing both the situations as an example of India's resilience, he said the US sent the seventh fleet into the Bay of Bengal to 'deter" India from 'reordering the political map of South Asia". He said New Delhi 'withstood that" and will do the same if he chooses to follow up his warning of increasing tariffs. 'Don't loose sleep on it… Your nation sent the seventh fleet into the Bay of Bengal in 1971 to deter us from reordering the political map of South Asia. We withstood that . We have enough resilience as a nation to withstand your Tariff threat. Thank you very much for your attention to this matter SIR," (sic) Tewari said in a post on X. Trump has alleged that much of the oil India purchased from Russia is being sold in the open market 'for big profits". His announcement, made on his social media platform Truth Social, came days after he announced a 25 percent reciprocal tariff on India and an unspecified penalty for importing oil from Russia. 'India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits. They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine. Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!" Trump said in the post. India has defended its sovereign right to conduct energy policy based on national interest. The Centre has clarified that India's energy purchases are guided by market dynamics and national interests. Indians Run Miami Hotel's Front Desk Remotely In Viral Video, Leaving Americans Furious

Last Updated: A video shows an Indian man remotely managing a Miami hotel's front desk, sparking debate on social media. Shared by Pete Lang, many criticized outsourcing jobs to India. A video circulating online shows an Indian man remotely managing the front desk of a hotel in Miami, USA, drawing both fascination and criticism on social media. The clip captures a guest checking in through an advanced digital system, communicating with the Indian assistant who appears on a large screen. The video, shared by Pete Lang on TikTok and Instagram, captures his hotel check-in experience with a virtual front desk assistant. In the clip, Lang interacts with the remote employee who appears on a screen, managing the entire check-in process. The assistant asks whether he needs one or two room keys, then proceeds to guide him and generate the registration form, all conducted seamlessly through a video call. 'The Miami hotel has outsourced its front desk to India. Guests are checked in virtually on a video call with an Indian representative. More American jobs are outsourced overseas. At some point, this should just become illegal. If you make money in America, you should hire Americans," one user commented. 'Ridiculous!! They need to tariff these American companies for giving jobs away to another country," another said. A third said, 'Outsourcing has reached another level. India is the biggest beneficiary of this." 'Very cool! Several U.S. cities have had this since COVID-19. Cheaper to hire virtual workers. No workers' comp, benefits, retirement, etc," added the fourth one. Notably, Indian professionals make up a significant portion of the U.S. STEM workforce, with over 70% of H-1B visas in 2023 issued to Indian nationals. Many American companies continue to outsource work to India, drawn by its highly skilled talent pool and cost-effective operations. According to Deloitte, 59% of U.S. firms outsource to India, while 80% of companies in the U.S. and Europe view it as a leading destination for IT solutions. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
