India pacer Mohammed Siraj opened up on his heartbreaking dismissal in the third Test against England at Lord's on Monday, which sealed a 22-run defeat for his team in their chase of the 193-run target set by the Ben Stokes-led hosts. In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Siraj reflected on the lessons learned from the defeat at the 'Home of Cricket' on Monday, which allowed England to go 2-1 up in the five-Test series with two matches left.

'Some matches stay with you, not for the outcome, but for what they teach,' Siraj wrote in his Instagram post that included images from the match, including him sitting on his haunches after his bizarre dismissal off off-spinner Shoaib Bashir's bowling with the target very much in sight.
Rashid hails Siraj's 'energy and passion'
The 31-year-old pacer's post receives thousands of replies, including from star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, his teammate at Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.
'Mia your energy and passion for the game is on top . Mashallah you are champion bowler and special player,' the Afghan spinner wrote in reply.
Siraj had played an important role in India's commanding 336-run victory in the second Test at Edgbaston with his haul of 6/70 in the first innings. He was also among the wickets at Lord's, collecting a couple of wickets in both innings including 2/31 that helped the Indians bowl England out for 192.

Siraj later forged a 23-run partnership with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, the last-wicket pair grinding their way towards the 193-run target until the former was dismissed for 4 after facing 30 deliveries. Jadeja, meanwhile, remained unbeaten on 61 off 181 deliveries, having brought up his fourth consecutive half-century along the way.

The Hyderabadi speedster will be hoping to make up for the dismissal, even if he wasn't really at fault, with another match-winning performance in Manchester, where the fourth Test gets underway at Old Trafford next Wednesday.

India vs England 2025 4th Test: Bad news for Karun Nair, 'invest in Sai Sudharsan', says star cricketer

Karun Nair after his dismissal against England in the 3rd Test at Lord's. (Photo: IANS) Captain Shubman Gill and the Team India management have a lot to think about ahead of the fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23. A loss for the visitors will hand over the inaugural 'Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy' to Ben Stokes-led England side. In spite of dominating most of the third Test at Lord's, Team India lost the match by 22 runs – failing to chase down 193 runs to win on the final day. For most fans and on-lookers, it was the shocking dismissal of No. 3 batter Karun Nair in the last session on fourth day which kicked off the Indian downfall. Till Nair's dismissal, India were cruising at 40 for one wicket before the Delhi Capitals batter shouldered arm to a straight ball from Brydon Carse to be adjudged leg-before. Nair was once again dismissed for 14 after doing all the hard work and getting off to a start. Apart from the first innings of first Test at Leeds when he was dismissed for a duck, Nair has got starts in every single innings but has failed to convert. Karun Nair has failed to convert his starts In six innings, Nair has scores of 0, 20, 31, 26, 40 and 14. After three back-to-back Test, it seems that time is running out for Nair, who had made a comeback into the Indian Test side after more than 7 years. In 9 Tests, Nair has only managed to score 505 runs and out of that 303 not out came in one innings against England in a Test match in Chennai. That triple ton was the only international century scored by Nair. Former India wicketkeeper turned commentator Deep Dasgupta believes that Team India management should start investing in youth and give opportunity to Sai Sudharsan for the remaining two Test matches in the series. JioHotstar expert Deep Dasgupta shared his thoughts on whether any changes might be made to India's Playing XI. 'In the Playing XI, you don't want more than one change. If there is only one, it would be replacing Karun Nair with Sai Sudharsan. Because Karun Nair hasn't made any runs. He's got starts, but hasn't converted them into big scores. I also believe he doesn't look that comfortable at the crease either,' Dasgupta said. 'And secondly, Sai Sudharsan is a young player. If you want to invest in this England series, you'd rather invest in a younger player. Karun Nair has got starts in both Test matches, but he hasn't looked that convincing. So if you're looking to build ahead, you might as well invest in someone like Sai Sudharsan. Because after this, I don't know when you'll come back to a series in England. So when you have two Tests left, invest in Sai Sudharsan,' he added. Need solidity at No 3: Deep Dasgupta Former Bengal stumper Dasgupta expects stability from a No. 3 batter in a Test side. When Sudharsan played at Leeds, Nair had batted at number six. 'Technically, he plays from the crease, especially on pitches where it's doing a little bit, that gets a little difficult. So it's not the fact that he hasn't scored big runs. He hasn't scored a 50 or something,' Dasgupta told PTI news agency. 'But also, especially somebody batting at number three, you need to feel that solidity. And at times, it doesn't give me that impression,' Dasgupta added.

Smriti Mandhana And Pratika Rawal Break WODI Record After Record-Breaking Start vs England

India's women's cricket team began their ODI series against England on a historic note as openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal continued their golden run, guiding India to a solid 4-wicket victory and etching their names in the record books. The dynamic opening duo put together yet another impactful start in the first ODI, helping India chase down England's competitive total of 258 with 10 balls to spare. Their opening partnership not only laid the foundation for the win but also established them as the most prolific pair in the history of Women's One-Day Internationals (WODIs), in terms of batting average. A Record to Remember Following their steady opening stand, Mandhana and Rawal's partnership average reached 84.6, the highest ever for an opening pair in WODIs (minimum 1,000 runs), breaking the previous record held by England's Caroline Atkins and Sarah Taylor (68.8). Best average for an opening pair in WODIs (min 1,000 runs) 84.6 - Smriti Mandhana-Pratika Rawal (IND)* 68.8 - Caroline Atkins-Sarah Taylor (ENG) 63.4 - Rachael Haynes-Alyssa Healy (AUS) 62.8 - Tammy Beaumont-Amy Jones (ENG) 52.9 - Belinda Clark -Lisa Keightley (AUS) How the Match Unfolded England Women, after being put to bat first, posted a solid 258/6 thanks to middle-order contributions. India's chase began with composure as Mandhana and Rawal built a confident opening stand. Smriti Mandhana scored a brisk 28 off 24 balls, hitting five boundaries before being dismissed by Lauren Bell. Pratika Rawal, calm and methodical, anchored the innings with 36 runs off 51 deliveries, seeing off the new ball and providing much-needed stability. While the two openers fell before reaching big personal scores, their early work ensured India had the platform to launch a successful chase, later driven home by the middle-order batters. Series Impact and What's Next India now leads the three-match ODI series 1-0, gaining confidence ahead of the next clash. The team's bench strength, strong batting foundation, and youthful enthusiasm are key assets in their World Cup build-up. While England had their moments, including breakthroughs by Ecclestone and Lauren Bell, they were unable to put consistent pressure on India's top order. England coach Charlotte Edwards admitted post-match: 'There are positives to take, but we were outplayed in the first 15 overs. Mandhana and Rawal were too good."

Stuart Broad critical of Yashasvi Jaiswal's pull shot: ‘I'm surprised He just didn't look to cut it over the off-side'

Chasing 193 runs in the third Test at Lord's, India has got to the worst possible start when Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to pull a short ball from Jofra Archer and got the top edge. The ball went high in the air and was taken by wicket-keeper Jamie Smith. Although the intent of Jaiswal was never in question but the shot selection from him did raise a few eyebrows. The left-hander, more known for his efficiency to cut the ball out of the blue on that occasion, decided to pull. 'So Jaiswal getting out, really bad shot, I'm surprised He just didn't look to cut it over the off-side, suddenly England are like okay, we are in. He is the player who moves the scoreboard forward,' Former England cricketer Stuart Broad said on 'For The Love Of Cricket' podcast. 'In a low chase, when you are defending, if you come to bowl and you've got a Sehwag, Warner, the opening batters that can take the game away from you and they up 60 for none or one off ten, the game is sort of done,' he added. Once Jaiswal's wicket fell, Karun Nair walked into the middle. He tried to play with caution. 'As soon as Karun Nair came in, he is someone who plays each ball on merit, then England could control it and set attacking fields, create pressure. So I thought that was a really big moment. England making that breakthrough early, Jaiswal gone,' Broad said. England could manage to pick four wickets that evening, which laid the foundation for their famous win. Brydon Carse starred with two wickets on the fourth evening, and on the fifth morning, Jofra Archer picked up Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar to put India under further misery. Although Ravindra Jadeja, along with the tail, did fight hard, India ended up short by 22 runs in the game.
