John Abraham reveals why is he not coming on OTT: It is not worth breaking…
Explaining why, John Abraham says, 'To do OTT, you need a very big office setup. You need a lot of people working towards something, where you don't even own the IP of. You make a commission from the series and that goes into your overheads. Anybody who's doing OTT today, they'll tell you absolutely the same thing. So, I don't see sense in breaking sweat on doing these series.'
Although, he admits that if he comes across a good series that appeals to him to produce, he'd take it up: 'I would love to because I want to tell that story, not because I want to make a business model out of it. So, that's one reason why I'm not doing this as a producer yet.'
But what about foraying in the web space as an actor? "Never say never, but at this point of time, I do not want to come on OTT as an actor for a series or an original film. I want to come on the big screen. In my head, I believe I was made for the big screen. I have a lot of respect for OTT channels because most of the content, at least internationally, and so much of the Indian content like Paatal Lok is outstanding. I have so much of respect for the space, but I don't see myself yet in it,' he responds.

Ramesh Sippy Says It Was 'Crazy' To Capture Amitabh Bachchan And Jaya Bachchan Scenes In Sholay
Sholay at 50: Ramesh Sippy shares why Jaya Bachchan's silent role was never a 'waste' but one of the strongest parts of the classic. Sholay turned 50 this week, and its legacy continues to stir emotions even after five decades. As fans celebrated the golden jubilee on 15 August, director Ramesh Sippy looked back at the choices that shaped the film into a timeless phenomenon. One such decision was casting Jaya Bachchan as Radha – a part that many at the time dismissed as being 'wasted." For Sippy, however, her quiet presence was the very reason she was chosen. 'A lot of people asked me, 'Why are you working with Jaya Bachchan? It's a waste… an actress like her.' I said exactly why I took her. It's a silent role. Even the silence didn't stop her from conveying her feelings. In the end, the satisfaction is that after 50 years we are talking about the film. All the hard work has paid off in every way," Sippy told Zoom. Radha, the widowed daughter-in-law of Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) and love interest of Jai (Amitabh Bachchan), barely spoke in the film. Yet her presence gave Sholay its emotional core, showing that silence can sometimes be more powerful than dialogue. Sippy also recalled the painstaking detail that went into capturing the magic between Jaya and Amitabh on screen. 'It was crazy. Getting what I wanted in that magic hour. It's 3-4 minutes. The face can't be behind the pillars, it had to be just right. The counter shots of Mr Bachchan had to be done in a way that the sequence feels right. When you pursue that, it takes time, but it comes out right in the end." Released in 1975, Sholay brought together Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan in what is now considered India's greatest masala entertainer. With Salim–Javed's sharp writing, unforgettable characters and lines like 'Kitne aadmi the?", the film went far beyond a blockbuster – it became part of Indian pop culture. Earlier, speaking with SCREEN, Dharmendra reflected on the gruelling schedules, memorable moments with Sholay co-stars. He said he never thought Sholay would go on to become a blockbuster. 'I didn't [expect Sholay to be such a milestone]," Dharmendra said. 'Of course, we worked very hard on the film. The shoots on the outskirts of Bangalore were gruelling. There were no hotels around. We had to drive down to the location 50 kilometres away from Bangalore every day. But it was a lot of fun. Lots of memories. Hema was there with me. Jaya was there; she was expecting her first child." Dharmendra also shared stories about casting choices. 'Yes, I did put in a word for Bachchan Saab [Amitabh Bachchan] to Ramesh Sippy. But he finally got the part on merit." On playing Veeru, he said, 'No, I was very happy playing Veeru. It is the part that chose me, more than I chose it." Anupam Kher's Birthday Note For ‘God Of Acting' Robert De Niro: ‘You Have Inspired Millions'
"I feel honoured, humbled and privileged to know you as a friend," Anupam Kher wrote in his note to Robert De Niro. Anupam Kher has been in the spotlight recently with his directorial venture Tanvi The Great, a film that has earned praise not only from Indian audiences but also from Hollywood legend Robert De Niro. Their enduring friendship drew attention once again on August 17, when Robert De Niro celebrated his birthday. Kher, who fondly refers to him as the 'God of Acting," shared a heartfelt post on social media. The Bollywood star revealed how 'honoured, humbled and privileged" he feels to have Robert De Niro as a friend. Anupam Kher also admired the Taxi Driver star's dedication and talent, saying his work has inspired performers across the world. Taking to Instagram, Kher treated fans with a series of special moments with De Niro. The post included a touching photo of the two friends hugging during one of their earlier meetings. Another picture was from the New York Indian Film Festival, where Kher received support from his best friend from Hollywood. Alongside these, Kher also shared photos that captured their bond over the years, different events and gatherings. In the caption, Anupam Kher wrote, 'Happy Birthday, Dearest Mr Robert De Niro. May God give you all the happiness in the world. You have inspired millions of actors (including me) all over the world with your HARD WORK and BRILLIANCE. The easiest expression to use in your case is that you are the God of Acting in the truest sense. I feel honoured, humbled and privileged to know you as a friend. May you have a long and healthy life. Love and Prayers always." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Anupam Kher (@anupampkher) An Emotional Moment For Anupam Kher In the past interview with India TV, Anupam Kher, praising the Hollywood star, had said, 'In my view, Robert De Niro is the God of acting. Back in drama school, we would watch his films like The Godfather, Raging Bull, Falling in Love and many others. He is an institution in himself. Just as I consider Dilip Kumar a legend here in India, I feel De Niro holds that place globally, as one of the greatest artists in the world. I even got the chance to work with him in Silver Linings Playbook." 'When I first met Robert De Niro, I told the assistant, 'I don't want to meet him on set. I am his devotee, truly his admirer. Please arrange for me to meet him in his van.' The assistant must have told him that an actor from India wanted to meet him. I carried a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha with me and presented it to him in his van. When I saw Robert De Niro right in front of me, I couldn't believe it. Tears filled my eyes out of respect," Anupam Kher added. According to the actor, 'He seemed a little uncomfortable and asked what had happened. I told him, 'No, sir, I am simply overwhelmed. I'm the son of a clerk from the Forest Department in Shimla, and through hard work, I've reached a point where I'm standing before Robert De Niro. That thought brought tears to my eyes.' He said, 'Okay, fine. Very good. I'm very happy to meet you.' We took a photo together. But when we later reached the set, he was no longer the same Robert De Niro I had met in the van—he had fully transformed into his character." Tanvi The Great featured Anupam Kher, Shubhangi Dutt, Iain Glen, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
