John Abraham reveals why is he not coming on OTT: It is not worth breaking…
John Abraham-starrer The Diplomat recently made its way to OTT and has been getting appreciation from all over. The film performed well in theatres too on its release in March, but got a wider audience with its OTT release. The web medium has become the go-to platform with even the biggest stars entering the space today. However, the actor has no plans to foray into the space any time soon.
Explaining why, John Abraham says, 'To do OTT, you need a very big office setup. You need a lot of people working towards something, where you don't even own the IP of. You make a commission from the series and that goes into your overheads. Anybody who's doing OTT today, they'll tell you absolutely the same thing. So, I don't see sense in breaking sweat on doing these series.'
Although, he admits that if he comes across a good series that appeals to him to produce, he'd take it up: 'I would love to because I want to tell that story, not because I want to make a business model out of it. So, that's one reason why I'm not doing this as a producer yet.'
But what about foraying in the web space as an actor? "Never say never, but at this point of time, I do not want to come on OTT as an actor for a series or an original film. I want to come on the big screen. In my head, I believe I was made for the big screen. I have a lot of respect for OTT channels because most of the content, at least internationally, and so much of the Indian content like Paatal Lok is outstanding. I have so much of respect for the space, but I don't see myself yet in it,' he responds.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat seeks to join petition against Kamal film release
Bengaluru: The Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP), has filed an impleading application before the high court in connection with a petition filed by Chennai-based Raajkamal Films International, producer of the Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Thug Life'. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Opposing the plea for police protection sought by the production house for the film's release in Karnataka, KSP, through its president Mahesh Joshi, argued that the Constitution does not grant absolute protection to speech, especially when it is likely to disturb public harmony or hurt the dignity of a language and its people. Referring to Kamal's controversial remark that Kannada originated from Tamil, KSP called it an intentional or reckless statement that undermines the status of Kannada. The apex body for Kannada literature also stated that the actor has not issued a formal apology or made any sincere attempt to clarify his stand. In its filing, KSP contended that police resources should not be used to protect commercial interests. It added that public protests, boycott calls, or expressions of anger over the film are all part of democratic expression, and do not automatically amount to unlawful threats that merit state protection. "The very Constitution the petitioner invokes to seek protection also allows peaceful dissent and criticism. To oppose a film is not to endanger law and order," KSP said. On June 3, the court adjourned the hearing after the filmmakers assured that 'Thug Life' would not be released in Karnataka until a dialogue is held with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). The matter is now posted to June 13 for further hearing.

Hema Malini once shared that she was unsure about doing Baghban when Ravi Chopra offered her the role of a mother to four grown-up sons. She found it hard to imagine herself in that part. But her mother, who was present during the narration, insisted she take it up, saying the story was strong and the role would suit her well. Though Hema had doubts, especially after being away from films for a while, her mother's encouragement convinced her to say yes. Interestingly, the Sholay actress wasn't the only actor who had to be convinced to do Baghban. The role of Pooja Malhotra was first offered to Tabu. Although she liked the script, she turned it down, unwilling to play the mother of four children at just 36. She later starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Cheeni Kum. Even Big B wasn't the original choice—director Ravi Chopra had initially approached veteran actor , who declined the role.
