OnePlus Nord 5 review

GSM Arena08-07-2025
The OnePlus Nord 5 offers a handful of new upgrades and a completely revamped design, more aligned with the current design trends but still crafted tastefully.
In fact, the new Nord 5 has an iPhone-esque vibe. Okay, maybe not in the sense of the iPhone Pros, but the vanilla iPhone. More importantly, OnePlus didn't go crazy with the camera island, unlike most smartphone makers.
This year's Nord also really packs a punch. It's the first in the Nord family to feature a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is quite powerful and offers near-flagship-level GPU performance on a budget.
OnePlus has fitted the Nord 5 with a matching display, making it the first OnePlus to offer a 144Hz display. But it's not only faster but also bigger, too, measuring 6.83" in diagonal.
As for battery capacity, the Indian market will enjoy the top capacity of 6,800mAh. The Chinese version of the phone is dubbed OnePlus Ace Ultra, and it, too, comes with an extra-large battery pack.

We are reviewing the European spec device, however, and it comes with a paltry 5,200 mAh cell. That's even a slight downgrade from last year's Nord 4, which had a 5,500 mAh battery. Go figure! OnePlus Nord 5 5G specs at a glance: Body: 163.4x77x8.1mm, 211g; Gorilla Glass 7i front, plastic back, plastic frame; IP65 dust-tight and water resistant (low-pressure water jets).

5G; Wi-Fi 6; BT 5.4, aptX HD, LHDC; NFC; Infrared port. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); stereo speakers, additional hardware button "Plus Key".
Another novelty is the new Plus Key replaces the good old Alert Slider, kinda like Apple replaced it with an Action key on the iPhone. The Plus Key still functions as a switch between different sound profiles by default, but you can also you can assign other actions to it, such as taking a screenshot, translating text, recording audio, launching the camera, activating the flashlight, or summoning the AI Plus Mind tool.
The camera system has also received some love this year, with the Nord bringing a significant upgrade in the selfie department. It's now wider and supposedly sharper thanks to a bigger 50MP sensor.
It looks like OnePlus is aiming at the all-rounder title in the segment with the Nord 5, but competition is still pretty strong in the €500-600 tier. Let's see how it stacks against its rivals. Unboxing the OnePlus Nord 5
We received the European variant, so the retail box is quite modest. The handset comes with the usual user manuals and includes only a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer. There's no charger in the box or a protective case.
The Indian retail package contains the appropriate 80W SuperVOOC power adapter and a protective case.

Best Buy is now selling the Moto G Power (2025) mid-ranger at a lower than Prime Day price

Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery... like so many other mid-range devices on the market today, the latest addition to Motorola's popular Moto G Power lineup is arguably not as attractive or as impactful as older members of the same family. At the right price, though, the Moto G Power (2025) is undeniably still one of the best budget 5G phones out there, pairing that respectable aforementioned cell size with reasonably fast 30W wired and 15W wireless charging technology while rocking a stylish vegan leather finish and an almost surprisingly robust construction. $50 off (17%) 5G, Unlocked, 128GB Storage, 8GB RAM, Android 15, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Processor, 6.8-Inch IPS LCD Screen with 2388 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 50 + 8MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 16MP Front-Facing Camera, 5,000mAh Battery, 30W Wired and 15W Wireless Charging Support, IP68 and IP69 Water Resistance, Military-Grade Durability, Vegan Leather Finish, Two Color Options Buy at BestBuy Normally available for $299.99, the 6.8-inch Android handset with MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processing power can now be purchased at a $50 discount in both "slate gray" and "leaf green" colorways. This somewhat random new Best Buy deal is curiously not matched by Amazon or Motorola's official US e-store at the time of this writing, also beating the only good past offer available exclusively for Prime members earlier this month. It's obviously pretty unusual to see a better-than-Prime-Day deal offered so soon after Amazon's big summer event, especially with no special requirements and no strings attached whatsoever. Yes, you're looking at a fully unlocked phone here compatible with all major (and minor) US carriers, which our comprehensive Moto G Power (2025) review praised for its eye-catching design, silky smooth screen, and overall system performance. Of course, it would be nice if the 120Hz refresh rate-capable display used AMOLED technology instead of LCD, and the 50 + 8MP dual rear-facing camera system is not exactly... mind-blowing either. But it's not easy to find a handsomer, more powerful, and overall better-equipped product at $249.99 right now, with something like the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G costing significantly more than that and the OnePlus Nord N30 5G not looking... very fresh after a summer 2023 commercial debut.

As the beta ends, T-Mobile forces some new T-Satillite subscribers to make a call or visit a store

As you might know, T-Mobile 's T-Satellite service allows a smartphone user in an area where there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity to stay connected via Starlink satellites. At first, users will be limited to sending and receiving text messages and sharing their location via their phone's messaging app. Picture and voice messaging via satellite is also being pushed out now by T-Mobile . The carrier says that next, satellite data from optimized apps will be available. Eventually, users will be able to make and take calls via satellite. T-Mobile users won't have to point their phones at the sky in order to connect to a signal from a satellite. When connected to a satellite, the phone owner will see a SAT icon in the upper right of the phone's screen. T-Mobile points out that there may be short gaps in service when satellites are moving. During one of these short gaps, messages might take longer than usual to send. Even if this is the case, your phone will keep trying to deliver the message, even if you leave your device in your pocket." With the free beta for T-Satellite coming to a close last week, T-Mobile subscribers on the pricier Experience Beyond and Go5G Next plans get T-Satellite as a free perk. Other T-Mobile subscribers on other qualified plans can add the service for $10 per month for a limited time. Eventually, T-Satellite will cost them $15 per month. Non- T-Mobile customers can also sign up for T-Satellite at a rate of $10 per month for a limited time. Eventually, T-Satellite will cost them $15 per month as well. Non-T-Mobile customers who want to subscribe to T-Satellite must now make a call or visit a T-Mobile store. | Image credit-T-Mobile Why did T-Mobile make this change? The carrier says, "Since T-Satellite is now commercially available, we wanted to ensure there wasn't any confusion around the setup or activation process which is why we are directing non T-Mobile customers to call or visit a retail store." Keep in mind that there are 60 eligible devices that work with T-Satellite right now: Apple iPhone 13 iPhone 14 iPhone 15 iPhone 16 (all models) Google Motorola moto edge 2025 moto g 5G 2025 moto g 2024 moto g power 5G 2025 moto razr 2024 moto razr+ 2024 moto razr 2025 moto razr+ 2025 moto razr ultra 2025 Samsung
