Time of India26-06-2025
Girish Kumar stepped into Bollywood in 2013 with the romantic film 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya', directed by Prabhu Deva. He starred opposite
Shruti Haasan
in a movie that was a remake of a popular Telugu film.
Though the movie did only average business at the box office, it was loved for its emotional storyline and hit music, especially the popular song 'Jeene Laga Hoon'.
Girish's debut earned him nominations for Best Debut, showing promise for his acting career.
But after that, he appeared in just one more film, 'Loveshhuda' in 2016, opposite Navneet Kaur Dhillon. The film flopped badly and was not well received by critics either.
After this, Girish quietly stepped away from acting.
From film sets to family business
Girish Kumar didn't leave the
film industry
altogether. He simply chose to work from behind the scenes. Born into the powerful Taurani family, Girish is the son of producer Kumar S Taurani and nephew of Ramesh S Taurani—both big names in Bollywood and the co-founders of Tips Industries.
After stepping away from acting, Girish joined the family-run Tips Industries and began helping manage the business.
Today, he is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company, working closely with his father and uncle to grow their music and film empire.
According to NSE, the market value of Tips Industries stood at Rs 8,533.40 crore as of Tuesday, 24 June 2025. That's a massive figure for a company that started small. The company had already touched over Rs 10,500 crore in market capitalisation in 2024. As COO, Girish has played a key role in building this success.
His work in the business world has clearly paid off, big time.
Net worth
is higher than top actors
Although Girish only acted in two films, his current net worth is higher than some of the biggest names in Bollywood. As reported by The Economic Times and Hindustan Times, his personal wealth is around Rs 2,164 crore. This is much higher famous Bollywood actors, including
Ranbir Kapoor
(Rs 400 crore),
Ranveer Singh
(Rs 245 crore),
Varun Dhawan
(Rs 380 crore), and even superstar
Aamir Khan
, whose net worth is around Rs 1,900 crore.
Talking about his personal life, Girish is married to his childhood sweetheart, Krsna, and they live in Mumbai with their child.

As earlier reported by Pinkvilla, Coolie has ended its presales with insane collections of Rs 183 crore for the opening weekend worldwide. While the screenplay fails partly, the Rajinikanth starrer is still a fun watch meant for big screens. To note, War 2 and Coolie have clashed at the box office as both released today (August 14) on big screens. Along with Rajinikanth aka Thalaiva, Coolie boasts many prominent stars like Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Aamir Khan. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie has received an A certification from the Censor Board. Apart from Tamil, the movie is also released in Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages.

Saiyaara director Mohit Suri reveals he was blackmailed with negative reviews, reacts to allegations of fake audience reactions

The romantic drama Saiyaara has taken the industry by storm, grossing over Rs 500 crore in the last few weeks and launching the careers of newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The movie also revitalised director Mohit Suri's career, which had been faltering in the last few years. He said in an interview that he'd been written off by the industry following the failure of his last film, Ek Villain Returns, and acknowledged that the same people who dismissed him were rattled by Saiyaara's success. He also spoke about viral videos of audience members having animated reactions while watching his film, and revealed that he'd been blackmailed for positive reviews by people he considers 'friends'. Chatting with Faridoon Shahryar on YouTube, he was asked about those viral videos, which showed audience members ranting, raving, fainting, and having exaggerated reactions to the film. He said that it is difficult to 'lie' about having a physical reaction to a film, which is what his mentor Mahesh Bhatt always told him to aim for. He said that it is easier to 'lie' in a review. 'I just don't read reviews,' he said, adding, 'A couple of them called me also, saying, 'We are going to write a bad review unless you…' I'm like, 'Write it, I won't read it'. I'll make a film, you have a right to watch it or not watch it. Same way, you make your content, I won't read it.' He said that Aashiqui 2, his previous major hit, was ignored by certain circles entirely. 'Now, when my film releases, I delete all my social media. I stay away, because I don't know which one is genuine and which one is not. Some of them are my friends, and I know that they charge money for it,' he said, adding that on-ground reactions cannot be faked. The movie has its origins in Aashiqui 3, but due to some differences between warring production banners, the story was turned into Saiyaara, and produced by YRF instead.
