No police investigations into venue that lost its licence
A bar in Southampton which lost its licence to sell alcohol is not subject to any ongoing police investigations. Saints Garden in St Mary Street had its premises licence revoked by city councillors following a review request by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. A licensing sub-committee meeting on Wednesday, July 31, heard there had been a pattern of criminal behaviour associated with the venue. PC Emma-Louise Berry said those responsible for operating the businesses were 'known to have committed multiple and varied criminal offences'. Councillors heard police had identified multiple issues with Saints Garden, including use of an unauthorised bar, fraudulent documents and breaching various licence conditions. Members of the sub-committee found revocation was the only 'reasonable and proportionate option' available to them. Following the outcome of the meeting, the Local Democracy Reporting Service asked Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary if there were any ongoing criminal investigation in connection with Saints Garden. A spokesperson for the force said there were currently no ongoing investigations in relation to the premises.
