Victor Wembanyama is an All-Star, 1 of 6 1st-time selections
The San Antonio star and reigning rookie of the year is an All-Star for the first time, one of the 14 players announced Thursday night as members of the reserve pool for the Feb. 16 event in San Francisco.
Wembanyama becomes only the fourth Spurs player to make the All-Star Game in his first or second season. The others: Alvin Robertson in 1986, David Robinson in 1990 and 1991, and Tim Duncan in 1998.
Coaches select the reserves, after the 10 names for the starters pool were announced last week through a combination of fan voting (50%), media voting (25%) and active player voting (25%).
There were seven players picked Thursday from each conference. From the Eastern Conference: Boston's Jaylen Brown, Indiana's Pascal Siakam, Cleveland's Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, Detroit's Cade Cunningham, Milwaukee's Damian Lillard — last year's All-Star MVP — and Miami's Tyler Herro.
From the West: Wembanyama, Minnesota's Anthony Edwards, the Los Angeles Lakers' Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Clippers' James Harden, Memphis' Jaren Jackson Jr., Houston's Alperen Sengun and Oklahoma City's Jalen Williams.
Wembanyama, Cunningham, Mobley, Herro, Sengun and Williams are first-time All-Stars.
There will be at least 15 players who 'start' at the All-Star Game this season. It's the first year of a new All-Star format, with three games. The 24 All-Stars will be drafted into three teams of eight players apiece by TNT personalities and former NBA greats Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith.
Those three teams will be entered into a four-team tournament, with the remaining squad made up of NBA rookies and second-year players from the Rising Stars event on All-Star Friday. There are two semifinal games, with the winners meeting in a championship game. The games should go quickly; the first team to reach 40 points wins.
Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault and an assistant from his staff will coach two of the teams, and Cleveland coach Kenny Atkinson and one of his assistants will lead the others.
Among the notable names who did not make it: Charlotte's LaMelo Ball — who narrowly missed out on being picked as a starter, but didn't have enough coach support to be a reserve — along with Atlanta's Trae Young, Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis, Phoenix's Devin Booker, Dallas' Kyrie Irving and the Clippers' Norman Powell.

As the NBA released its entire 2025-26 regular season schedule, the Thunder and Nuggets will have all four of their matchups on national television. The Thunder are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks for the most national TV games this upcoming season at 34. The Thunder will travel to face the Nuggets on Sunday, Feb. 1. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock. Next up, OKC will host Denver on Friday, Feb. 27. That will be shown on ESPN. The two meet again at Paycom Center on Monday, Mar. 9. That will be on Peacock. And finally, the Thunder travel to Denver on Friday, Apr. 10. That game will be on Amazon Prime. Considering it's the penultimate game of the regular season, there's a decent chance the game won't mean much by the time it rolls around. We'll see. Examining the schedule, the NBA believes the Thunder and Nuggets are a rivalry worth investing in. All four matchups being on national television prove that. It's an easy bet to make if you're the schedule-makers. Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokic have been the top two players over the last two seasons. That should only continue.

Brewers' winning streak snapped in extras after 9th-inning comeback doesn't hold
CINCINNATI — Just when it looked like the Milwaukee Brewers couldn't lose, they did. Cincinnati Reds designated hitter Austin Hays hit a walk-off single to left field with bases loaded in the 10th inning for a 3-2 Reds victory, snapping the Brewers' 14-game winning streak and handing them their first loss since July 30. Advertisement For three games this weekend, the team with the fewest mistakes won. On Sunday, for the first time, that team was the Reds. After the Brewers came back from a seven-run deficit on Friday and avoided a loss Saturday with the help of an Elly De La Cruz error on what would've been a game-ending double play, the Brewers were unable to come up with yet another comeback. The Brewers had come from behind in eight of their victories during their winning streak. The Brewers entered the ninth inning down 1-0, but William Contreras hit a two-run home run off of Reds closer Emilio Pagán to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead. But an error by shortstop Brice Turang to start the ninth allowed the Reds to force extra innings, thanks to a Jose Trevino single that scored Will Benson. Milwaukee tried to bunt over ghost runner Andrew Vaughn to start the 10th inning, but Blake Perkins' attempt didn't travel far beyond home plate, allowing Trevino to pounce on it and throw out Andrew Vaughn at third base. Reds reliever Graham Ashcraft got a popup and a line-drive out to end the inning. Spencer Steer started the bottom of the 10th with a successful sacrifice bunt, which was followed by two intentional walks. Hays saw an 81 mph sweeper and drove it down the third-base line, and Milwaukee's streak was no longer. The Reds were the first on the board in the bottom of the seventh when Hays led off with a double and moved to third on Noelvi Marte's single. Trevino's long drive to right was caught by a leaping Brandon Lockridge in right field, but easily scored a tagging Hays for the game's first run. The lefty pitching duel lived up to expectations, with Reds All-Star starter Andrew Abbott throwing seven shutout innings. Abbott allowed just four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Jose Quintana allowed just one run over 6 1/3 innings on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Abbott's ERA fell to 2.28 on the season, and Quintana lowered his to 3.32. After a walk to Matt McLain to load the bases, Anderson got an infield popup by leadoff man TJ Friedl to send the game to extras for the second day in a row. Entering Sunday, Marte was slashing .298/.399/.558 for the Diamondbacks with 23 home runs and 56 RBI. His bat would provide a major upgrade for a Braves lineup that is searching for offensive help. Atlanta would need to play its cards right when discussing deals to acquire Marte and shop Albies as it needs to hold onto the power in the negotiations.
