2025 Central Texas Remarkable Woman Winner Ready To Head To Hollywood
WACO, TX (FOX 44) — 2025 Central Texas Remarkable Woman contest winner Inez Russell is ready to head to Los Angeles to represent Central Texas and the Brazos Valley among the nation's other 124 contest winners!
FOX 44's Vince Erickson had a conversation with Russell this week. She told him she's excited to fly out to Los Angeles on Sunday and spend a busy day there on Monday — with planned and surprise activities during the day and the awards banquet on Monday evening!
'Every day as this becomes real, I'm getting a lot of communication from Nexstar, and itineraries, and even emails from the other Remarkable Women across the country,' Russell said. 'And it's been fun to learn about them, and very humbling to think that I'm going to be part of all of this.
'I'm honored and humbled that I was chosen and I'm so grateful that I get to be part of this, and I think you guys do an amazing job of making us feel special. I'm happy to get to go but I feel blessed to get to be part of it.'
Russell stressed she'll also be excited to tell her fellow Remarkable Women winners, who will also gather in Los Angeles, all about Friends For Life – Inez's Waco nonprofit that helps older and disabled adults live their best lives independently and safely – her motivation since founding the organization almost 36 years ago.
'The thing that touches my heart the most is we've been given a great opportunity to tell people about the people we serve and what we're trying to do to help them,' Russell said. 'And, I know the end result will be that more people will help us, which will mean we can help more people. We can help them in more ways, and that's the important thing.'

At The Box Office: ‘Materialists'
COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – This week on 'At The Box Office' film critic Julia Swift discussed 'Materialists', which is about a matchmaker stuck between two love interests. Swift said that the movie 'comes off as more of a pretty typical romantic comedy' without looking down on the genre. Still, the movie has hidden depth that Swift found enjoyable. She also highlighted the film's director, Celine Song, who reportedly wrote this film based on her time as a matchmaker in NYC. Dakota Johnson, who plays the titular matchmaker, 'always plays the same character,' according to Swift. While she would have loved to see a different actor portray that character, she praised Chris Evans and his performance. Pedro Pascal also stars along side them in this movie. Overall, there is 'so much to enjoy.' Anyone interested can catch 'Materialists' in theatres. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Preps for 250th birthday of the Army underway
WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – This weekend, the nation's capital will host a major celebration honoring the 250th birthday of the United States Army and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest military parades in recent memory. The event will bring together troops from across the country, featuring soldiers from every major command, historic military reenactors, marching bands, armored vehicles, and helicopters flying in tight formation above the National Mall. For Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Sugg, participating in the flyover is more than just duty it's the realization of a lifelong dream. 'When I was three, four years old, when we would go to an air show I would lock myself in aircrafts,' he said. 'Now, I'll be flying in formation, making it look pretty for everybody on the ground.' Lt. Col. Patrick Husted promises the spectacle will be unforgettable: 'It'll be big, it'll be loud and be really, very, very cool.' Flying overhead will be Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters, with pilots like Victoria Robinson leading the formation. 'I'll be in the lead Black Hawk flying over the parade,' she said. Helicopter pilots say they've trained for everything even unpredictable weather. 'There are certain limitations, we need to stay clear of clouds and keep to the altitude restrictions for the national capital region,' said Army pilot Colton Curry. The public is invited to line Constitution Avenue to witness the spectacle. The White House is calling on veterans, military families, and future soldiers to take part in the historic moment. However, the celebration hasn't come without criticism. Some local leaders and watchdog groups have raised concerns over the parade's estimated $45 million cost and potential wear-and-tear on D.C. roads. Still, organizers say the focus is on honoring the legacy of the U.S. Army and inspiring the next generation of service members. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
