Minors accused of breaking into vehicles prompts warning by Havre De Grace police
Officers located a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old after cars were reportedly scoured through in the 1000 block of Chesapeake Drive.
A neighbor told WJZ that she heard car alarms in the middle of the night. When she went outside, she said three young men were attempting to break into cars.
One of them yelled, "Hurry up, let's go," as soon as he saw her.
"I'd like to see these kids home getting ready for school and not out dealing with the police at 4:30 in the morning, for sure," said Havre De Grace Sgt. Philip Goertz.
Goetz believes more suspects are involved. If anyone has any information, call the Havre De Grace Police Department at 410-939-2121.
Warning about vehicle break-ins
The car break-ins have prompted Havre De Grace police to warn residents about locking their car doors.
Sgt. Goertz said officers are responding to vehicle break-ins more frequently, especially over the last two months.
"Typically, we might get one or two incidents a year like that, but not for it to extend the period of time that this one has," said Sgt. Goertz. "It seems like it is related to juveniles."
Monday's incident happened on the 1000 block of Chesapeake Drive, and Sgt. Goertz says the suspects are 14 and 16 years old.
Sgt. Goetz said the thieves mostly target cars with unlocked doors and get away with any valuables they can stash.
"Make sure you take any items of value out of your vehicle, make sure your vehicle is secured, don't leave your keys inside the vehicle, and to the parents, we'd say make sure you know where your children are after 11 o'clock at night," said Sgt. Goertz.

Irena Green was jailed on May 23 after The Trowbridge Company Inc. alleged in a lawsuit that the homeowner had violated community appearance rules, ABC Action News reported. The HOA management company, based in Hillsborough County, claimed that Green had 'browning grass' on her lawn, a dirty mailbox and a commercial van, among other minor violations, which they said they ordered the woman to correct. 'The grass has started turning brown. So then they started sending notes,' Green told ABC Action News. 'And it went from the grass being brown to there's a dent in my garage.' After the lawsuit was filed, Green said a judge gave her 30 days to tidy up her lawn and to correct the violations, or she would be jailed. 'I sold my van to comply. My mailbox was cleaned to comply. I bought seeds and watered my grass to comply," she told ABC Action News. Despite her attempts at resolving the issue, Green was later arrested after missing a next court date in August 2024, the outlet reported. 'I was supposed to receive documentation. On May 23, while picking up her 15-year-old daughter from cheerleading practice, Green was pulled over and arrested, according to ABC Action News. 'There was no bond. So I couldn't even go home to my family,' she told the outlet. 'I sat in there for seven days in the jailhouse like a criminal.' According to jail records seen by PEOPLE, Green faced two charges: contempt of court and failure to comply with court's order to show cause. Green was released from jail after her family presented evidence that she had cleaned up her yard to a different judge than the one who signed the arrest warrant, per ABC Action News. 'It makes me feel horrible. I work hard to buy this home for me and my kids in a better neighborhood and environment, and to be taken to jail and to be treated like that for brown grass at my own home ... that's horrible,' she said. Man arrested after crashing vehicle into RCMP Quebec headquarters
Montreal police are investigating after they say a man deliberately crashed his vehicle into the the Royal Canadian Mounted Police divisional headquarters on Dorchester Boulevard, in Westmount, west of downtown. Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said a 911 call was made reporting a crash at the main entrance of the building around 9:25 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was arrested but taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries suffered in the crash. Brabant said the driver was first seen approaching the building on foot, but eventually got into his vehicle and drove "slowly" but at a constant speed, into the entrance. Police believe the driver may have been suffering from mental health issues and said he was possibly in a state of crisis. While damage to the building was considerable with glass being shattered at the entrance, Brabant said that two RCMP officers who were inside at the time were not injured. Investigators will be questioning the driver as soon as his health allows.
