Rising star Ayush Mhatre sets sights on playing for India at Lord's after recent visit: 'I can't wait for the day'
Mhatre is currently captaining the India U-19 team in their tour of England, in which they won the 50-over leg 3-2 and drew the first four-day Youth Test. Mhatre and his teammates took time out of their schedule to attend the third Test between the senior Indian and English teams at Lord's. read more Having toured the iconic Lord's recently, Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings rising star Ayush Mhatre has set his sights on playing for his country at the 'Home of Cricket' down the road. Mhatre, who had a breakthrough season with CSK in the Indian Premier League earlier this year, is captaining the India U-19 team in their ongoing tour of England in which they have played five ODIs and one Test so far and will be flying back home after playing the second Test, which gets underway in Chelmsford from 20 July. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Mhatre and his teammates, including 14-year-old superstar Vaibhav Suryavanshi, had recently attended the third Test between the senior teams of England and India at Lord's, which ended with a thrilling 22-run victory over the Ben Stokes-led hosts on Monday. 'After seeing all of this, I can't wait for the day when I can come here to play and bat. I will never be able to forget this day. It will always be in my mind that I want to play at the Lord's. I even watched the stadium only before on TV,' Mhatre said in a video posted by the BCCI on their website on Thursday. Mhatre cherishes celebrating 18th birthday at Lord's What made his visit to the iconic venue, which used to be the global headquarters for the sport for more than a century, even more special was the fact that he also got to celebrate his 18th birthday here. 'It's a very special day for me that my birthday is celebrated at Lord's and my cake cutting was also done at the venue. There will never be a bigger moment in my life, but this biggest moment feels very special. I feel very motivated and feel like I wanna come here and bat anytime,' he added. India U-19 head coach and former batter Hrishikesh Kanitkar, for one, could relate to the excitement of his squad, having visitors Lord's himself more than three decades ago – also during an U-19 tour. 'It's a very big moment. One is the history of the Lord's and second is there are so many great achievements here by our countrymen. It's a great thing to know the legacy that a place has. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We toured Lord's in 1994 as under-19s as well. So, I could relate to it and what they are feeling. Boards in the dressing rooms where the achievements are written, the fifers and the hundreds and stuff – these things really inspire you,' Kanitkar said. The Mhatre-led India U-19 team had won the 50-over leg of their tour 3-2, in which Suryavanshi finished as the leading run-scorer with 355 runs at an average and strike rate of 174.01. The first four-day Youth Test, on the other hand, ended in a draw despite the visitors collecting a 101-run first innings lead.

India's most watched OTT show in 2025 so far has no big star, yet 27.7M views; beats Aashram, Panchayat, Squid Game 3
The world of OTT in India is now bigger than ever, with original shows and films releasing across multiple platforms almost every day. Spanning a wide range of genres and languages, OTT content is breaking boundaries and offering Indian audiences a wide range of choices to enjoy online. In this vast sea of content across platforms like Netflix, JioCinema, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Prime Video, and more, one show stood out in the second half of 2025, emerging as the most-watched original OTT show with over 27 million views. It wasn't Bobby Deol's Aashram, Jitendra Kumar's Panchayat, or even the global hit Squid Game 3. This series captured the attention of viewers nationwide with only one popular actor in the lead. The most viewed original OTT show is Pankaj Tripathi's Criminal Justice: A Family Matter, as per a Top 50 streaming originals in India list. Ormax Media has released its Top 50 streaming originals in India list for the first half of 2025. The ranking includes only original content that was released directly on streaming platforms, excluding licensed or dubbed titles. The viewership figures represent the number of unique individuals who watched at least one full episode of a series or a minimum of 30 minutes of a film on any streaming platform. Notably, the numbers reflect actual viewers, not the number of OTT accounts used, with each viewer counted only once, regardless of how many times they watched the particular show or episode. Topping the list is Pankaj Tripathi's Criminal Justice, Season 4 on JioHotstar, which attracted a massive 27.7 million viewers. The show returned with its new season, bringing back Pankaj Tripathi as lawyer Madhav Mishra. It also starred Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Khushboo Atre and Asha Negi. The first three episodes of Criminal Justice Season 4 were released on May 29, 2025. After the initial release, new episodes were released weekly. The show received a positive response from the critics and viewers. Taking the no 1 spot, Criminal Justice Season 4 surpassed hit shows, including Bobby Deol's Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2, which took the second place with 27.1 million viewers. Coming in third is Jitendra Kumar's much-anticipated Panchayat Season 4 on Amazon Prime Video, with a total viewership of 23.8 million. Following the top three, Jaideep Ahlawat's Paatal Lok on Amazon Prime Video bagged the fourth spot with 16.8 million viewers. In fifth place arrived the finale season of the Korean global sensation, Squid Game Season 3, drawing 16.5 million viewers. Others on the list were-- The Legend of Hanuman Season 6 with 16.2 million views, The Royals at 15.5 million views, The Secret of the Shiledars with 14.5 million views, Chidiya Udd at 13.7 million views and Jewel Thief with 13.1 million views.

In Pune this week, Singapore comedian who has a witty name for Ranbir Kapoor's biopic
Stand-up comedian Sharul Channa's shows are packed with observations and comments on everyday matters, news, and social observations, and tend to leave audiences in splits. On June 19, Channa will perform her latest show Saree-ously Not Sorry at Godaam Specialty Coffee Co in Pune's Shivajinagar. Saree-ously Not Sorry, which explores current events and society, is a continuation of her earlier show, Saree Not Sorry, and taps into her Indian identity. Channa's father was from Delhi, and her mother from Punjab, and her family moved to Singapore when she was three. 'Although I have toured the world, performed in various cities, and grown up in a multicultural society, as an Indian woman, I believe that I, like many other Indian women, look best and beautiful in a saree. It represents our identity and dresses us up beautifully. I also plan on wearing sarees for all my shows, my entire lifetime. That's why Saree-ously Not Sorry!' she says. Trained in theatre at the prestigious Lasalle College of Arts, Channa combines theatrical storytelling with her stand-up performances, creating a rich experience. 'I read the news a lot, and I watch a lot of people. Touring across Southeast Asia has helped me connect more deeply with my voice and expression as a comedian. I have come to understand what resonates with audiences — especially in India — and where the invisible lines are drawn. I, now, know which jokes land, which ones don't, and which ones might get me an all-expenses-paid trip… to jail,' she says with a smile. She keeps a tab on Bollywood too. She says that when she found out that actor Ranbir Kapoor would be playing the role of Lord Ram in the film Ramayana, she kept thinking of his previous role in Animal. 'Now, if Ranbir Kapoor has a biopic, it will be called Kabhi Ram, Kabhi Haiwaan,' she quips. She also delves deeper into how people have been behaving lately. 'Lately, it feels like the world has turned into one big episode of reality TV, with frequent flyers, plane etiquette meltdowns, and relationship drama taking centre stage. We're constantly debating personal boundaries at 30,000 feet and questioning how we interact with one another on the ground. Amid all this, there's also the deeper question: Does the world need more children? Or do we need to first become better people?' Channa says stand-up comedians should take risks on stage, but they must also 'stand by it and take accountability'.
