Guy Ritchie's "Fountain of Youth" Gets Trailer and Release Date

Yara Sameh
The official trailer and release date for Guy Ritchie's next project, "Fountain of Youth", starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski, have been unveiled.
The movie is penned by James Vanderbilt and follows two estranged siblings who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure set to change their lives and possibly lead to immortality.
In the trailer, Krasinski's character, Luke, hesitantly calls up his sister Charlotte to enlist her help to find the long sought-after, once thought to be mythological Fountain of Youth. 'Are you in trouble?' During a phone call with Luke, Portman's character asks before stating, 'You only call when you're in trouble.'
Skydance Media produced the pic for Apple in a first-look deal alongside Vinson Films and Project X Entertainment. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Tripp Vinson, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Jake Myers produce, while Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella serve as executive producers.
"Fountain of Youth" features Egypt's rich history, culture, and must-see locations, with the Giza Plateau turned into a high-verve playground for the pic.
In July 2024, the Great Pyramid and taciturn Sphinx shared their home for two weeks with modern equipment and military helicopters lent out by the local Ministry of Defense for the first time.
'A friend of mine was on the Guy Richie project,' Location Managers Guild International president John Rakich said at the time. 'And they couldn't stop talking about how seamless it was to shoot for two weeks in front of the pyramids. [They were orchestrating] gunfire, helicopters, all big stuff that usually doesn't get done here.'
'For the longest time, people were going to Morocco to shoot fake pyramids,' Rakich added. 'Now, there's a big push to get people to come back to Egypt. So we're here to take a look, to see what's around to and see how we can help.'
'This is the real Egypt,' he noted. 'Productions can now can shoot antiquity with a friendly partner without having to go out and fake it. We're not talking about moving a whole show here, but if you have to do a scene, you can come here. You don't have to be 'Transformers,' and you don't need a massive budget. You can still be medium size and shoot what's real.'
'We're joking about their ad campaign,' Rakich joked. 'It should just be a picture of the pyramids under a tagline that says, 'Yeah, we got this.' I told them to play to their strengths. Hollywood will go if the right thing is there.'
"Fountain of Youth" debuts via Apple TV+ on May 23, arriving on the heels of Apple and Sykdance joining forces for the action-horror hybrid "The Gorge", which starred Miles Teller and Anya-Taylor Joy; the horror film "Mayday" with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh; and "The Family Plan", led by Mark Wahlberg.

"The Black Phone 2" Is More Violent, Scarier, More Graphic, Says Director Scott Derrickson

Yara Sameh "Dead is just a word," that's the message behind Universal and Blumhouse's "The Black Phone 2". The official trailer unveiled Sunday at CCXP Mexico, a pop culture convention being held in Mexico City over the weekend. The movie is the sequel to the surprise 2022 hit that grossed $161 million against an $18 million budget. Based on a short story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King, the movie introduced audiences to the Grabber, a masked serial killer who abducts children, locking them up in his basement. One such kid, however, finds an unplugged but haunted rotary phone that connects him to the ghosts of the previous snatched boys, and in that a possible way out. The movie ends with the Grabber dead, so how is he back? The trailer shows builds to a chilling phone conversation between our hero, played by a returning Mason Thames, and the Grabber, once again played by Ethan Hawke, with the latter telling the teen, 'You of all people should know that dead is just a word.' Then the trailer unleashes a barrage of horror images. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Director and co-writer Scott Derrickson elaboratedthe nature of ghost stories. 'The first movie was a ghost movie but all the ghosts were victims, which is typical, a ghost story,' he said prior to the trailer 's reveal. 'But in this one, you've got a ghost that is a villain.' With the first movie, Derrickson tapped into his Denver childhood, where bullies and violence were common. For the new movie, he drew on his high school experience of going to winter camps in the Rocky Mountains. The severity of the weather, the environment and the surrounding Rockies contributed to the tone of the sequel. The difference between middle school and high school ages of the characters is the big change in tone. 'A middle school coming-of-age horror movie is a different animal than a high school coming-of-age horror film,' Derrickson added. 'A there's a ratcheting up of intensity because of that.' Derrickson wasn't necessarily planning on a sequel to "Black Phone" but said Hill wrote to him a month or two after the movie came out with some ideas. And having it set in the high school years proved appealing, especially when he worked out the timing in his head. 'I thought if I go make another movie first and don't make a sequel now like you're supposed to, then by the time I finish, these kids are all going to be in high school,' he explained. The movie he did was the large-budgeted monster Apple TV+ movie titled "The Gorge" with Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller. 'And I can return to these characters in this different stage of their lives.' And because of that, "Black Phone 2" is more of a horror film than the first movie, which he considers to be a supernatural thriller. 'It is certainly more violent, scarier, more graphic,' he said. 'And part of that is because of the age of the kids.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Zach Braff Returning as JD for "Scrubs" Reboot

Yara Sameh Zach Braff is set to reprise the role of J.D. in a reboot of 'Scrubs' being developed at ABC. The reboot was first reported to be in early development in December, with original series creator Bill Lawrence serving as executive producer but not showrunner. Lawrence, Braff and other 'Scrubs' alum have discussed the idea of a reboot for years, but it couldn't go into motion until after negotiations between Disney, which owns the IP, and Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence has an overall deal. While working on 'Scrubs' at Disney-owned 20th Television, Lawrence remains under his deal at WBTV, where he produces the Apple TV+ comedy series 'Shrinking,' 'Ted Lasso' and 'Bad Monkey.' 'Scrubs' premiered in 2001 on NBC, which aired the series for seven seasons before cancelling it. It was then renewed by ABC for an eighth season, which was intended to end the series, though the network later greenlit a ninth season subtitled 'Scrubs: Med School' in which only John C. McGinley and Donald Faison stayed on as series regulars. Braff appeared in six out of 13 episodes. Alongside Braff as J.D. aka John Dorian, the original cast of 'Scrubs' included McGinley as Perry Cox, Faison as Chris Turk, Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, Ken Jenkins as Bob Kelso and Neil Flynn as the janitor. The series was a single-camera sitcom set at Sacred Heart Hospital and narrated by J.D. as he and his friends advanced in their medical careers. Braff is the only cast member currently confirmed to be attached to the reboot. He previously spoke about his enthusiasm to join a 'Scrubs' reboot in a Variety interview about the 20th anniversary of his film 'Garden State': 'The idea of getting back together with my friends and doing like 10 or 12 episodes of maybe one or two seasons, and just laughing with everyone? That sounds like a dream,' he said. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies

Elle Fanning Joins "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" as Effie Trinket

Yara Sameh Elle Fanning has been cast as Effie Trinket in 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,' an adaptation of the bestselling book by Suzanne Collins. Fanning joins previously announced cast members Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow. Molly McCann will also appear as Louella, while Iona Bell will portray her Capitol-assigned lookalike Lou Lou. Effie, who was portrayed by Elizabeth Banks in the original four 'Hunger Games' films, enters 'Sunrise' as stylist to District 12 Tribute Haymitch Abernathy in the leadup to the 50th Hunger Games. Fanning most recently starred in the Oscar-nominated film 'A Complete Unknown.' She will next be seen in Joachim Trier's 'Sentimental Value,' which premieres in Cannes this week. Other upcoming projects include the Apple TV+ series 'Margo's Got Money Troubles' for David E. Kelley and Apple TV+, and 20th Century's 'Predator: Badlands,' in theaters this fall. 'From the moment Suzanne released the book, one question echoed from fans around the world: Who will play Effie? Elizabeth Banks made her iconic — so who could honor that legacy while bringing us back to Effie's early, most formative days? For us, there was only one answer,' Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erin Westerman said. 'Elle Fanning's career has been transcendent. She has a rare presence — warm, sparkling and layered with extraordinary depth. She was the undeniable fan favorite from the start, and we're honored she answered the call. The odds, it turns out, were in our favor.' The film adaptation of 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' will be released on November 20, 2026. Lawrence, who has helmed every installment of the franchise since 2012's 'Catching Fire,' will direct from a screenplay adaptation by Billy Ray. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will produce. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce. The five films in the franchise so far have taken in over $3.3 billion at the box office. Published on March 18, 'Sunrise on the Reaping' revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of 'The Hunger Games,' starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. 'Sunrise on the Reaping' sold 1.5 million copies in its first week on sale in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The 1.2 million copies sold in the U.S. are twice the first week sales of 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' and three times the first week sales of 'Mockingjay.' Meredith Wieck and Scott O'Brien are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Robert Melnik negotiated the deal for the studio. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies
