
Southern Railway Cubs and Bulbuls Utsav to be held in Erode from July 25
A release from the Salem Railway Division said the three-day event is being organised by the Southern Railway State Bharat Scouts and Guides of the Salem District. Cubs and Bulbuls represent the entry-level group of the Bharat Scouts and Guides programme, catering to boys and girls aged between 6 and 10 years. The initiative aims at nurturing character, instilling discipline, and fostering a spirit of service in young minds, laying the foundation for future participation in advanced scouting and guiding activities.
The Utsav will feature a wide range of events, including standard judging competitions, folk dance competitions, and adventure activities. The valedictory function is scheduled for July 27.
Participants from across the Southern Railway zone are expected to attend the event. Senior officials from various divisions of Southern Railway will also be present to encourage and support the young participants, the release added.

Partial cancellation of Erode and Sengottai train services
Due to engineering works related to the provision of a new crossover and realignment of a curve at Vadipatti railway station, in the Dindigul – Madurai section, two train services will be partially cancelled, according to a release from the Salem Railway Division. Train No. 16845 Erode – Sengottai Express, scheduled to depart from Erode Junction at 2 p.m., will be partially cancelled between Dindigul and Sengottai from July 17 to 26, except on July 22. On these nine days, the train will operate only between Erode Junction and Dindigul Junction, and will not run between Dindigul Junction and Sengottai. Similarly, Train No. 16846 Sengottai – Erode Express, scheduled to depart from Sengottai at 5.10 a.m., will be partially cancelled between Sengottai and Dindigul from July 18 to 27, except on July 23 (nine days). On these days, the train will not run between Sengottai and Dindigul Junction, but will operate from Dindigul Junction to Erode Junction, the release added.

Changes in train services in Salem section
Due to track renewal works at Karur railway yard on June 20, 2025, the following changes will be made in some train services. A release from Salem Railway Division said Train No.16844 Palakkad Town – Tiruchi Express, scheduled to leave Palakkad at 6.30 a.m., will be terminated at Karur railway station. After completion of the works, the train will be run as an Unreserved Special Train to Tiruchi Junction. Train No.16811 Mayiladuthurai – Salem Express, scheduled to leave Mayiladuthurai Junction at 6 a.m. will be terminated at Virarakkiyam railway station in Karur district. The train will run from Mayiladuthurai Junction to Virarakkiyam only and it will not run from Virarakkiyam railway station to Salem Junction on that day. Likewise, Train No.16812 Salem – Mayiladuthurai Express, scheduled to leave from Salem Junction at 2.05 p.m., will instead leave from Karur Junction at 3.40 p.m. The train will not run from Salem Junction to Karur Junction and it will leave from Karur Junction and run up to Mayiladuthurai Junction on that day, the release added.
